I've replaced the old VSTs with more realistic/better sounding ones. I also improved the mixing so some samples aren't so loud compared to others. I've added parts throughout the song inspired by funk songs to make it less repetitive. MindWanderer Posted February 8, 2019 Share Posted February 8, 2019 To get the bad out of the way first: the volume of the samples is still very inconsistent. "Float like a butterfly" and "There ya go" are very loud, "Who da man" and "You got it" are very quiet. If this gets sent back, those definitely need another tweak. That said, I'm really loving the funky grooves here. It's still a bit repetitive towards the end, but not as badly as I remember (which, granted, was 2 years ago). The leads are more than adequate in quality. My one concern isn't a dealbreaker, so from me this gets an enthusiastic YES Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

While the main melody is quite repetitive, the creative use of samples and dropping layers in/out gives this a similar style and feel to the original soundtrack. This would likely be my main criticism as well, in that your mix takes a lot of cues/inspiration from the original soundtrack, and while not necessarily a bad thing on its own, it would have been nice to hear some further creative exploration of the piece. Things have changed around a bit from the last submission, but in general the sounds are thicker, and the arrangement has a bit more focus in the direction it moves in (the samples sound less randomly applied, for example).
