Hi Bundeslang

here is my pick for the contest PRC453 :

Console : Super Nintendo
Game name : Space Megaforce (aka Super Aleste)
Song name : Black Hole Anomalies (Area 4)

youtube link to listen to the music track : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sx0DRngBROg&t=21s

Yup, another shoot them up :D
I really liked this game back then, I played it like a lot ! ^^
This game has a lot of good soundtracks on it ! They really worth to listen all of them.
"Area 4" has that kind of "HOUSE" vibe, looking forward for what you will come up with this remix.

I would like to thanks TheVideoGamer that helped me figure out how to make good midi files.
Now I'm confident enough to tackle the transcription of this source :)
The process transcription : I used the program vgmtrans (free) for SPC to midi extraction and had to do also some more modifications on the midi files to make it right.

Have fun everyone ;)

The deadline is Wednesday September 7th 2022 at 10:59 am ThaSauce time (18:00 UTC, 19:00 GMT), check the link https://compo.thasauce.net/rounds/view/PRC453 for the exact time left. Make sure that the song is uploaded to ThaSauce or that there’s a download link posted in this thread. Five days extra.

You may enter as many mixes as you like and work with as many people as you like on each mix. You are free to create a second ThaSauce account for that if you use ThaSauce, it's needed to be able to upload a second remix if you use ThaSauce. Of course you can also upload it somewhere else and put a download link in this thread.

Do not make qualitative comments on an entry until the results of the vote have been posted in this thread.

Mixers cannot vote for themselves but if they vote they receive a free first place vote added onto their score.

The winner of this round may select the source for PRC455.

Hleet can enter with a bonus song and has a double vote.

You can find the full rules list at this page as well.

GOOD LUCK!

@Bundeslang Thanks for the extension, I just did.

For some reason I cannot upload the song even after converting it to MP3. I used a tool and saved it and now it seems to work.

Welcome to the voting stage

The mixing stage is over. This round has 3 songs. The following people compete against each other:

Aurelien Castel

Souperion

TheVideoGamer

To vote, do the following:

Visit https://compo.thasauce.net/rounds/view/PRC453 and listen to all the entries

Scroll to the form at the bottom of the screen or click PM.

Fill in the entries from first to third in the ThaSauce form or fill in your top 3.

State a reasoning for it.

Participants are encouraged to vote and leave feedback. They get a 3 point bonus, but they are not allowed to vote for their own track. They should fill in their fjrst place and leave the other box empty

Always look in this thread to find out who's the winner of the round after the voting stage instead of only looking at ThaSauce for the results.

You have until Monday September 12th 2022 10:59 AM ThaSauce time (11:00 UTC, 12:00 GMT) to vote.
If you vote by PM make sure that your top 3 is clear. I prefer something like this:

(To)

(Subject)

PRC ## Vote

(Message):

1: (remixer A )

2: (remixer B )

3: (remixer C )

(reasoning)

It's results time

TheVideoGamer got 6 points and gets the last place wooden spoon.

Souperion collected 8 points and gets second place.

And the winner of PRC451 is Aurelien Castel with 12 points.

Aurelien Castel, you are the winner. You may pick a source for PRC455. Send the source to me (with a MID/MP3 file, otherwise send a second source with a MID file) by PM, other options are PM me @ ThaSauce or by e-mailing to bambombim@gmail.com (I prefer a PM @Ocremix). Send your source as fast as you can, but before next Wednesday (21 September 2022), 11:00 AM ThaSauce time (18:00 UTC, 19:00 GMT).

You may select any source from any game, but not a source with an OverClocked remix or a source which has been used in PRC before. An overview of the past PRC's can be found in the following links (I recently updated this site):

I've just realized i forgot to vote or give feedback lol.

So i'll do it now.

Aurelien Castel: Really liking the array of cool square like sounds. Really gives it that oldschool c64 kind of sound. Main melody is super dynamic, love it a lot. It's got a lot of cool acoustic moments in the piece, despite it's electronic leanings. Each sound changes throughout, it's pretty cool. It almost has a Jazz Fusion meets Chiptune approach. Some of the sounds can unfortunately get a bit loud, or at least close to the threshold. I'm not sure if the chord changes are deliberate, because they sound very spicy (Maybe dissonant depending on who's listening). I don't mind them, but i have to be in the right frame on mind, otherwise i might perceive it as dissonant. Despite that though, the whole arrangement is really great, i love the cool new sounds added in this. It's just a really lovely arrangement, well done! Congrats on winning by the way!

Souperion: Welcome back to remixing dude! This is some really cool orchestral styled approach here. Loving the piano, it's like a mix of Jazz and Orchestral. The drum parts were delightfully 80's sounding, and the synth parts were really juicy and trance like. On it's own, it can get a little...weird and uneven mix wise, but when mixed with the strings and piano, it adds a wonderful electronic edge to the sound, really making it like some Disco thing. The piano is a wonderful touch, makes it more of anime type piece lol. The mix does need some touches for me, the piano is a bit too much in front, and i would add a bit more electronic sounds to bridge the gap more. I feel like there isn't enough to distinguish the 2 (Just a taste thing in my opinion). Ending gets a little distorted for me. The fade out is very sudden, no anticipation for the ending. Despite all that, you did a wonderful 80's styled take on it, with some amazing melodies and sounds. Well done!

Thanks for a fun round. Sorry i couldn't give a proper remix this time, but i will do for the future rounds. Again congratulations to Aurelien Castel, really great job! See you next round!
