Geoffrey Taucer
Latest version: http://h.xerol.org/f.php?f=500 ---------------------------------- http://h.xerol.org/f.php?f=434 Baba Yetu from Civilization 4. Still pretty rough. Funny story about this one: I met Christopher Tin in person at VGL and told him I was working on this (in fact, I hadn't started on it, I just had the idea for it), and he said to e-mail it to him when I'm done. So I figured I should probably actually get started on it and get it past the idea stage. This was originally planned to be a collab with Polar, though he seems to have dissappeared off the face of the earth yet again. Hopefully he'll show up before too terribly long, and I'll still be able to work with him on it.
227
Is that a real pan flute? Sure sounds like it. Good stuff. I haven't heard anything like this on OCR before, so good luck.
Dafydd
Speaking of pan flutes, you really should give the Young Merlin song I told you to listen to a try. The vocals section sounds a bit like the Lion king soundtrack. Hehehe.
Escariot
Is that a real pan flute? Sure sounds like it. Good stuff. I haven't heard anything like this on OCR before, so good luck. It's an Irish Whistle... http://www.ocremix.org/remix/OCR01455/
Geoffrey Taucer
No pan flute, but two irish whistles; a high one and a low one. The vocals were inspired a bit by the Lion King OST. EDIT: though actually, I have a pan flute that I may end up working into this.
Nicole Adams
Good stuff, Tauce. Maybe EQ out a little of the low end of the vox. It seems a little too prominent.
Geoffrey Taucer
I actually boosted the lows ont he vox because I wanted it to sound big and boomy. I could back off if you think I overdid it, though...
Nicole Adams
Yeah, I say pull it back a little. A tad muddy down there.
SwordBreaker
Cool concept here even though I'm not familiar with the game's soundtrack. Yeah, there's that Lion King-ish feeling with the Irish flute and the vocals, which are pretty good debut, Taucer. I suggest you put even more layering into the vocals, make it sound like a choir or something. The acoustic guitar reminds me of Goo Goo Dolls' "Iris" for some reason. Add some violins and sing some lyrics and this mix will really rock!
Martin Penwald
I suggest you put even more layering into the vocals, make it sound like a choir or something. Seconded, as well as the notion about pulling the vocals back a bit. Furthermore, the irish whistle sounds a little...rough in some places. I don't know how to describe it, but it's as if the whistle becomes too loud directly after the player inhales and starts again. If that makes any sense. Geoffrey Taucer
The whistle is definitely rough. I just did one quick take to get the idea recorded. Gonna go back and redo it later, once I get the arrangement planned out a bit more.

SwordBreaker
Love the update here. Everything sounds more polished. Cool drum intro. Nice piano there. Glad you made the vocals more choir-like. I also liked that added vocal part in the end. Sounds very ethnic and authentic. No complaints from my end. Good luck in completing this! Hale-Bopp
Very nice! I definitely hear the Lion King influence and I'm digging it. When the vocals first come in, I kinda get goosebumps. So cool.
Moguta
Oh man, this is sounding really nice. Hope we get to hear more!
Autocrat
I like it, I loved the track in the game, but it just seems to me that the flute is going a tad too fast when its introduced. Could be just me.
