zircon Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 Summary: I just bought a $14 drum sample collection of 469 oneshot WAVs, edited and categorized. It consists of vinyl sounds sampled to an MPC drum machine and then re-sampled to a computer. If you are interested in 'groovy' drums (breakbeat, hip hop, big beat, funk) then this really is a must have. Here's my full review. http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=197271 Here's a demo I did in a couple minutes with NO processing. http://www.soundtempest.net/dope.mp3 And here's where you can get them. http://www.goldbaby.co.nz/thempc60page.html Quote
Harmony Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 Hey just out of curiosity, with the 1000's of one-shots that you have, what do you typically use to load them up quickly and in an organized fashion? I wouldn't think that you're just loading wav by wav as audio clips in FL...are you? Kontakt perhaps? Quote
zircon Posted November 9, 2007 Author Posted November 9, 2007 I just drag and drop into FL's step sequencer (sampler channels) - by far the easiest way. I don't really have much of an organization system, however... I've tried in the past, but the best I have is organization by sample library. Quote
Legion303 Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 I just drag and drop into FL's step sequencer Gah! Having used the piano roll for so long, I couldn't imagine going back to individual sequencer channels for drums. -steve Quote
zircon Posted November 9, 2007 Author Posted November 9, 2007 If you saw how fast I could sequence you might change your mind. There really is no better way IMO to do 'drum machine' style drums, the primary draw being not only the speed of sequencing but the ability to just change your samples in real time (and preview new ones) while the sequence is going. OceansAndrew Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 Pretty sweet stuff, and the price is awesome! I'd recommend this to any beginning mixers who have issues with drums (myself included). A super cheap way to improve your mixes tenfold. Quote
AMT Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 Is this a temporary deal or the standard price for it? Quote
zircon Posted November 9, 2007 Author Posted November 9, 2007 Nope, this is the permanent price. Quote
DDRKirby(ISQ) Posted November 10, 2007 Posted November 10, 2007 sold! nice find, I'm looking forward to using this. Quote
HoboKa Posted November 10, 2007 Posted November 10, 2007 it's pretty good, though the snare samples sound almost exactly the same as all the FPC stuff I have =/ any idea where I could find some hardcore snares? LoL, feeling generous Zircon ? Quote

Tensei Posted November 22, 2007 Posted November 22, 2007 it's pretty good, though the snare samples sound almost exactly the same as all the FPC stuff I have =/ any idea where I could find some hardcore snares? LoL, feeling generous Zircon ? Learn 2 process u nub But seriously, I'm pretty sure most 'hardcore' snares are really just your average 909-samples with a load of distortion/saturation. Quote
zircon Posted November 22, 2007 Author Posted November 22, 2007 Yeah, hardcore snares = 909 w/ distortion. These MPC sounds are way better than any FPC samples in FL. Quote
