  1. When the strings hit, I was like "Whooooooooa! This is my favorite part!" and then even more cool instrumentation kept dropping in as things kept shifting. Very dynamic and, at nearly 5 1/2 minutes, it does a great job evolving and justifying the length. Fun energy!

  2. The intro is already going when we get started and then we're at high octane from then on. And everything from there just keeps getting better and better as various surprises are thrown in from left and right. This ReMix is a trip, as we are thrown from idea to idea to idea like electricity arcing from point to point. Perfectly captures the vibes of a shmup.

  4. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO US! OC ReMix = 25 YEARS OLD! 4,500 ReMixes later, video game music is STILL an art form! We've got a celebratory Zeal mix by JSABlixer from the upcoming anniversary album TimeShift, and we'll be doing lots more over the course of the next year to celebrate the creativity and impact of this powerful community! Thank you to everyone -- past, present, and future -- who have made OverClocked ReMix what it is. Please share some positive memories on how you discovered OCR, artists and tracks you love (original VGM OR ReMixes), let's go! :-D

  5. Xcellent team effort from team SNES. Xaleph leads with great creativity as always. At times this has more mellowness then I xpect, but that's a joy. He's a master of psytrance, so anytime he breaks it up with dipping into other genres or changing up the feel it's awesome. The guitar was also a highlight as it injected just the oomph of energy it needed to close things out. Love it!

  6. An aggressive delight. Love the popcorn synth at the start before the takeover by guitar. Audiomint's voice is dreamy and ethereal as always. The change around 2:50 is chef's-kiss. The dark mood suffused throughout comes to the fore. Soaring guitar around 4:30, but in the background...wow, fantastic. That change at the end of the "verse" too...Mmm! The surprise around 6:10? Yes. Amazing.

  7. This gives me LotR vibes, which means that the orchestration must be doing the intended thing. There is an exposed low instrument early on that I didn't particularly like the timbre of, but it's forgivable, and the low brass feels somewhat restrained at times... it reminds me of Kirkhope on a N64 so unfortunately for me it has a bit of a comic edge to it due to that association. The (presumably-synthetic) choir does lend a lot of strength to it, though. It's still a very well done mix, though. Jinx, @MegaMixtape :P

  8. Transporting is right. The noise crunches as percussion as well as the spacious audio give me Massive Attack vibes. This is something that you could leave on in the background while coding, or easily fit into a playlist of driving music for when you're cruising at high speed. While I'm not familiar with the OST (but have seen enough of the gameplay) and thus the source isn't necessarily familiar, this creates a shimmering crystalline ephemeral space that leaves me breathless. Beautiful.

  9. Very chill, but still has nice momentum to it. This would make great BGM for work or study.

  10. The piece does generally stay in one gear, but it ebbs and flows nicely within that gear. Cool lil' mood piece, and an interesting direction to take it in, going instrumental and more of a groove-based vibe. Loved when the beats dropped out to let the lush textures shine through as well.

  12. I like the flex between different genres and you're still able to keep focus and direction of the mix. Great job Jorito.

  13. Orchestra meets metal, the classic combo. Yes, I'm a sucker for strings and a drum kit and overdriven guitars. The atmospheric intro gives no indication of the rock that's about to hit your face, and that's good...when that build up goes through and the storm breaks on multiple occasions, it's great. There's some echo between piano and guitar that works really well too. But the thing that gets me is the synth bass...I would say that this is what gives this track its distinctive character and makes it memorable.

  14. I'm not familiar with the source, but this remix rocks. I love the build up, and resolve at the end.

  15. Breaking news: the sir nuts track is indeed a banger. It's so groovy and cool and I love it so much

  16. Yo, funky groove... and then tasteful vox that leads into a sick pitched wub... yes please. This is some damn fine work. The Sir_NutS are, as always, addictive...you can never stop with just one bite...

  17. Groovy! The synth work is absolutely killer. The drums hit hard, and the way you arranged the source works great. Sir Nuts always has great stuff, and this is no different. The dubstep elements later on in the song are sexy af.

  18. Good jazz always hits the spot, and this smashed it into the ground. I'm always a huge fan of mallet instruments so the vibraphone just elevated this for me

  19. I love all the remixes from this album, and once this one gets going, it really swings!

  20. I love the drums in this song. These kinds of songs are why I use ride cymbals in every song. Every elements comes together very well and the instrumentation is very professionally done. Good work on this one.

  21. Really loved the Lavos intro, got into the groove, and then when the Burn Bobonga came in it brought a huge smile to my face. Everything in this is impeccable. It really has a live recording feel. The interpretation is amazing.

  23. Dracula's our vampire! He's our man! If he can't do it, no-one can! How did this go through this long without any commentary on here? Well, let's fix that. This is a great marriage of guitarwork and wubwub. The shreddage takes no prisoners and will floor you. Very tasteful howl placements. A real juggernaut.

  24. Super high energy take on the classic Vampire Killer and Opening from CV3. Love the combination of genres. Orchestral and guitars have always been epic and this is no exception. The guitar solo from BMC ~2:30 was sick shredding. Great take, super enjoyable!

  25. Awesome intensity from BMC_WarMachine's guitars, which were a huge highlight! Voice clips, mallet percussion, and spooky sounds were super on-point as well. Strong collab, boys!

  26. How has no one said anything? :( This is actually such a wide arrangement that isn't trapped in a single genre, I love it.
