  1. Kizyr: still haven't received the music, so I'm afraid I can't answer your question for certain, but I'm guessing it will be an entirely new theme.
  2. WOOPS! Christopher Tin is not the composer on this project; I was misinformed. Veteran Civ-series composer Michael Curran will be writing the main theme, as the lead audio designer. If you think you may have mentioned the wrong info anywhere, please help clear up the rumors. ^-^
  3. BGC has participation bias. btwbreathingyouinandantigravityRthebesttraxkthxbye
  4. Already got two preorders - one for each of my parents on Mother's and Father's Day! If you guys thought Impulse Prime was good, just wait till you hear this. IT'S AWESOME! XD
  5. You made this post at 5:07? Laaaaame. ^_~
  6. Looks like the recording session will happen on Saturday, May 5th. Still haven't gotten the music, so I dunno how it sounds yet!
  7. I think it makes more sense to paint *before* we move in, though... since then we won't have to worry about shifting around furniture. But I guess it depends on when the current tenant moves out. If we don't have a "help us move in" meetup, we can have an apartment warming meetup instead. ^_~
  8. The above statement applies to me, too.
  9. Plucked guitar sounds waaaaay out of tune with everything else in the intro. It didn't quite fit in texturally, either, perhaps due in part to the mixing. In fact, I'm not sure how much the entire ethnic introduction really enhanced the arrangement in the first place. It was in an entirely different key, and the production qualities were weaker here. I liked everything from the metal entrance on much better, to be honest, and I'm not even a big fan of the style! Very nice soloing, solid production, great interpretation. The ending was a little abrupt for my taste, but it works. I'll YES this, but I hope that you consider a different approach for future submissions. In the end, the entire intro section felt like more of a gimmick than anything else. YES
  10. This *sounds* relatively good in terms of texture, but it's extremely repetitive. Bass line's too faint, the drums are kind of tinny and dry, and you're basically riding cruise-control for the entire arrangement. I'm glad you've been able to familiarize yourself more with the program, but that doesn't change our standards for reinterpretation. Voting blindly, yes, but even if the source tune were this repetitive, that wouldn't excuse an equally repetitive remix. The ending section starting around 5:55 was cool! That's the kind of variation we should be hearing throughout. I hope you'll continue to work on this... Condense things a little and vary it up a lot, and you (might) be on your way. Can't know for sure until I hear the source! NO
  11. Lawl. Ummmm... Where'd the pitch go? This is certainly R:TS/OLReMix worthy, but there's just not enough going on harmonically to really call it a rearrangement - more like a remix in the traditional sense of the word. Production is... creative! Very fun indeed, but I can't really make heads or tails of it in terms of OCR standards. I'll still be listening, 'dough. NO
  12. Very catchy early 90's kind of groove. I could picture this on a Pure Moods album any day! I understand Larry and TO's standpoint, but I feel like this is still minimalistic in the positive sense. I was feeling everything up until about 2:26, and then it got a little sparse for a bit with the standard bassline and light piano embellishments. Same kind of thing from 4:13 on - wish there had been some more punch for the conclusion! Also, there's a weird, dissonant note at 0:48. Was that intentional? All in all... Could be better, yes, but it's still good in its own right. Maintained my attention without a problem, at least. YES
  13. I like the new tempo. It's not that often that you hear someone slow down a source, and I feel like it really enhances the style. You're off to a good start with this mix! The arrangement is a little tentative at the moment, however. I think part of the problem is that it's just a little too short to develop a true arch. Some balance issues, as BGC pointed out: there is a little too much volume the higher parts, and not enough bass to support them. And from 2:36 on, I felt like things got a little sparse. You'd need some more movement to develop something really substantial with such a thin texture. Anyway, I hope you'll continue to work on this, because I see a lot of potential. ^-^ NO PLEASE RESUBMIT
  14. Ahhhh, thanks everyone!!! I'm very excited as well. Haven't gotten the charts yet, but from what I know, it's looking like a four-minute long, epic choral piece for the main menu screen.
