  1. It's there! :> http://www.soundtempest.net/jill/ocr/june07philly/10.jpg
  2. What am I, a wildebeast? Jesus, Brad! But is she really smaller? I'm only 5'2" and 112 lbs... My hands must be smaller, at the very least. ^_~
  3. The intro made me want to scream, "Who you gonna call? GHOSTBUSTERS!" This be a cover. A good cover, but a cover nonetheless. I like your choice of instrumentation; the pulsewave arpeggiations sound really cool. It's a little on the 80's cheesy side, but I think you can make that work even more in your favor with a more personalized resub. Hope to hear an update. NO
  4. A few gripes to start off with: Introducing the mix with a cello solo... Hmm, good idea, but the sample (w/ cheesy vibrato) sounds too exposed. Harp is too loud for a realistic orchestral setting. The 2:28 transition into major was a little abrupt. Brass samples are thin, as has already been pointed out. All that being said, the main problem I find here is in the arrangement itself. While you've changed some things here and there, it all sounds much too similar to the source in terms of key, instrumentation, and mood. I have no trouble believing this piece as performable in the real world, but I just don't take anything *new* away from this in the end. I'd like to hear a much more personal interpretation, especially considering the samples were a bit of a downgrade from the source. NO
  5. Cool intro! Scratch that; pretty much cool everything. The drums are definitely the weakest link in this remix, however. I have a feeling you don't enjoy writing percussion, judging from your Malcos collabs on Blood on the Asphalt. The "I Don't Fight Boys" Garageband loop sticks out in my memory. Although that was probably on Malcos' part, it seems as though you enjoy working on the jazzy/soloistic elements to a greater extent. Point being that you could probably be a little more creative and experimental with this stuff - just consider it another part of the combo. Everything else is right on par, in my opinion - production and all. I don't think I could NO this solely based on the lazy drumwork. Variety and instinctive musical choices make up for the minimalism. YES As a side note, there was a bit of a note clash around 3:43 during the downward scale. ><
  6. Lots of cool ideas going on here for starters. I really dig your style of soloing - it's kind of unpredictable and spastic, but in that "oh hey, that works" sort of way. The piece has a very natural evolution as well. Still, I feel like the source connections are too liberal at this point. Needs more direction - a liiiiiitle schizophrenic. And as others have already pointed out, the soundfield is pretty thin as we speak. I'd give this an A+ for a rough draft, but definitely needs more finetuning. Hope to see a resub! NO PLEASE RESUBMIT
  7. I found the first 1 minute to be a little on the slow side. The strings had weird delay (as in behind the beat stuff - not echo), and drums sounded pretty stilted. Things picked up, though, and everything beyond that point was quite solid in my mind. Excellent solo by Sixto, and all of Andy's additions fall right into place. I feel you, Larry, on the Dream Theater-esque style. Something about this rock mix feels sort of distant and ethereal. Nice contributions from all. YES
  8. Haaaaa! Moving on. I'm definitely hearing the DJ Shadow influences in here. At first I think the time signature threw me off, but the connections to the source are pretty clear to me upon second listen. Background pattern doesn't change as often as the progression in the original, but the solo e-piano helps tie things in on another level. Not too liberal, IMO, but getting there. If the production and musicality weren't of such high caliber, I would probably lean towards a NO. But this is such a refreshing interpretation, and as Vig said the mood is right in sync with the source. Nice work! As a side note, the intro FX are a little tricky due to the low volume. Kind of reminds me of TV-channel stuff on Pink Floyd's "The Wall." I'm sure it was a stylistic choice - I just hope nobody is fooled and turns up the volume way loud only to be blasted by muzaks. ^_~ YES
  9. I'm a vocal performance major at Peabody Conservatory entering my final year in the bachelor's program. DrumUltimA is my friend!

  11. A few more favorites: José's my hero Brain freeze! Cousins zircon and Merk? You missed all the group pics cuz you came late! But you're still in the last couple ones.

  15. It was definitely Freezepop inspired. I introduced Andy to them a while ago. :>

  17. (ROBOT VOICE) Female: Processing input. Input within acceptable parameters. ROMantic access approved.
  18. Thanks, Doug! I could really use your expertise. XD
  19. It's not possible. I don't have that kind of money.
  20. Regardless, $700 is a little steep for an audition fee, wouldn't you say? ^_~
  21. Excellent! Geoffrey Taucer's sig quote now applies.
  22. I think it was rejected more in terms of arrangement, though production wasn't swell either. M1lesteg just had me sing for the mix; I didn't have any deeper involvement. And now we're barely in touch. Buuuuut, who knows. Maybe Andy and I can remix the Celes Opera right sometime...
  23. Somebody actually contacted me through my website a week or so ago to point out this opportunity. Unfortunately, I don't think travel costs would make up for the odds. Auditions are in Nippon, silly.
