Dun da da dun dun dun dunnnnnnn! Presenting pixietricks' thousandth post on OCR... VGDJ episode #041 (1st anniversary episode) has been released at WWW.VGDJ.NET! We had a blast with you guys! Keep in mind that this show was recorded live with all our guests at the meetup, so there are a lot of wind noises etc. I think we pulled off the editing pretty well, considering the circumstances. ^_~ Anyway, here are the pics! Passing by a game store in Center City. Lunchtime at Liberty Place as we decide our plans for the rest of the day. Setting up for the recording of the show at Rittenhouse Square. Yay nature! We're good to go. Half of our live audience. And the other half! Interviewing someone for the first part of the show. Asif picking up some footage for the PLAY documentary. The hosts checking the recordings in-between sections. Interviewing Paul & Paul. Paul Levering looking very producerly! "Uh.. was that cable not connected?" Enjoying a laugh at the expense of random strangers and their dogs. Woot! Jose was the only one with an OCR shirt (we had 3 VGDJ shirts though). Doesn't he sort of look like a dark version of ShonenSamurai..? A "20 minute wait" at Olive Garden. Yeah, sure, OK. Yep, aaaannnytime now.. bustatunez describing an interesting encounter at the Game Developers Conference. bustatunez & Merk (finally, seated!) gamerscalling & Cyan_Ide The crew of PLAY: Paul L, Asif, Paul O Intently watching a preview from PLAY! VGDJ: Kills Emo Podcasts Dead. Merk's dorm. He has good taste, eh? The thrill of forum moderation!!! It is is so exhilarating! AIM-yelling at Rama for being late with the report. Tsk tsk tsk. zircon, Merk, and bustatunez chillin' after dinner at Merk's place. The whole mobile recording thing sounds good in theory, but the amount of wires, connectors, and adapters required was a bit overwhelming. Cousins...? A late-night snack at "Scoop de Ville", the only thing apparently open after 5pm in Philadephia. Merk and gamerscalling gaze in fascination at bustatunez and his ice cream. VGDJ repreZENT! zircon and pixietricks expressing their frustration at their inability to get a good shot. This one speaks for itself A Mary Poppins-esque jump on the walkway towards zircon's dorm. bustatunez with +1 glasses at zircon's dorm. bustatunez giving GeoffreyTaucer's a run for his money with a Splinter Cell style wall climb. The remainder of the meetup, ready to go to sleep at 3AM in zircon's dorm.. starting with bustatunez. Cyan_Ide and gamerscalling are KO'd. Hard at work Sunday getting the shownotes and such together, as pixietricks does some serious editing. WE LOVE YOU ALL!!! THANKS FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT!

Podcasty Alley counts accumulated votes for that month, right? Remember we can--or are supposed to :wink:"--only vote once a month. Well, obviously that has to do with it, but we usually get more votes trickling in. Some people don't listen weekly, forget to vote because they're busy with other stuff, or are hearing the show for the first time. ^_~

Yeah, I figured that would happen. Without a new show, our listeners didn't get the usual voting reminder. That's okay; we're still doing better than ever! Usually VGDJ is somewhere in the 30's or 40's on podcast alley. I'm still astonished at how far we've come.

If zircon feels up to that, maybe... But seriously, we already spend so much time on the editing and shownotes that I kinda feel like you guys could just take a minute to find them yourselves. Especially now that we have a quick search on OCR! ....and if the listeners aren't regular visitors to OCR? Well, they should be able to figure it out, if they've been clicking on the other ones. It's not that complicated. If we do *everything* for them, they're less likely to explore the site on their own.

Sucks because I missed a bunch of notes and it was REALLY REALLY QUIET!!! (my fault on that one) I'll just record myself playing it later and host the mp3 I don't know why whoever was editing the show didn't duck the background audio... Ah well, an MP3 would be appreciated. And if any of you want to play it on the piano: sheet music Believe it or not, I TRIPLED the volume on his voicemail. As in, maximum volume in three, synchronized layers. Oh well.
