I always copypasta what the directions change and replace all the info (remixer name, source names) by copying them from the first post. I use the temp title TITLE throughout the writing process so I can just replace it later. So mine will be: ladyWildfire - TITLE (Abandoned Castle, 1479; Inner Quarters, 2035; and Inner Halls, 1476) It isn't rocket science guys.

Are the polls private? The problem I have with public voting in bracket compos is that if the votes are extremely lopsided, some competitors know what they're working with before others.

I would guess that's a typo: you should vote for 1 entry per matchup.

I'll clean mine up tonight and sub it. At this point all I have left is polish. I was busy with the Global Game Jam over the weekend so I didn't get everything I wanted in, but overall I think it's passable for a compo. It's definitely a departure from what I usually make.

Global Game Jam 2016 was January 29-31. I noticed on Facebook that @Fishy participated and shared his game. My friends and I also made a game over the weekend. You should check them both out! I'm using vocals in mine and my boyfriend is providing guitar samples. It's totally ok to use live recordings. I think the only thing you're not really supposed to do is use a live performer and let them write a lot of the remix; your submission is supposed to be a reflection of your arranging skills, not the arranging skills of your performer.

Can you put me down for "Keeps Us On The Move"? It will probably end up as an EDM remix that's pretty faithful to the source, probably with vocals. I was also contemplating a "Tricky Maze" + "Chased by a Rock" mashup but I think I'd rather start with the Egg Carrier source.

6/8 and 12/8 are pretty much the same thing, it's just whether you think of the "bars" as having 2 or 4 beats. It's more natural for me to think in 4 beats. I've done 2 songs in 12/8 and have one more that's on-hold. Everything in that meter feels super bouncy and fun, even if it's in minor key!

@Esperado I just realized your source is in 12/8 time, which happens to be my all-time favorite time signature to write in!

Hey @Esperado, this is as close to the source as I'm willing to transcribe: https://www.dropbox.com/s/31dq8pwwm982cm8/Abandoned%20Castle.mid?dl=0 Right before it loops it goes into some crazy solo stuff that is really hard to hear at half speed, the airy-ness of all the instruments used in the source makes everything kinda muddy at slow speeds. I also think there is a wrong note around 2:09 but I couldn't figure out what it was supposed to be. Anyone going up against me throughout the compo is welcome to use this midi!

I'll send you my transcribed midi later tonight! It's a pretty simple source for the most part.

I think having that information on the calendar would be helpful. Also, the submission times on those dates, with time zones clearly marked. I'd hate to accidentally submit mine past the deadline due to time zone confusion.

I've also been testing out some streaming methods (twitch, mixlr) while working on an album remix, I can post the info here if anyone's interested. I usually remix at night (central time).

I was also super relieved to see the 2 week period. 2 weeks allows me to take a day here and there for some recovery from work stress without feeling guilty over not remixing.

I used this video to find some songs, because I'm know nothing about the Castlevania series. Abandoned Castle Wandering the Crystal Blue Please someone let me know if both of these songs are ineligible and I can look for some more sources. Also, if anyone happens to find midi files of either of these, you'll be my best friend throughout the compo!

You can count me in for Yoshi's remix. I'll take a look through the source list and see if anything still available jumps out at me. EDIT: I had meant to listen to all of the remaining themes to see which I liked, but the first one I searched clicked pretty well with me. You can put me down for remixing Drachma's theme.

I might be able and interested to be in this, but I've never played a Castlevania game and know nothing about the music. Are there any playlists or info on what all the available sources or games are?

I'm so glad you like them! It was really fun designing and assembling them, and I plan to do more pieces using the same techniques after my current remix project is done. I am not very organized so the second part of your gift may arrive after Christmas.
