Some tracks are OCR quality and were posted here (Snowbound, Da Black Market, See Sixty Funk, Nirvana, Home Again), but joe_cam basically wanted Bound Together done his way, recruiting people not only from OCR, but VGMix, OLR, OneUp Studios, etc. An independent project, as noted in Snowbound's writeup.

That kind of catch warrants a clean-up of the last sentence in his bio, which says that Duke Nukem 3D is his only other appearance. · You didn't miss any more than I did regarding his space suit at the ends of levels; I brought it up earlier and Dafydd said it shows up in Doom 95 (I haven't played it though, so I took his word for it). + The 2nd sentence in your version of paragraph 1 reads more clearly than other versions we've tried; it's shorter, more fluid, and doesn't try to confuse the reader. - "They also know his familiar green suit" sounds subtly repetitive, coupling the words "know" and "familiar." I think it would work better to say "They also know his green space suit"; that's what he's wearing, since he's on the moon Phobos. - I had to check the use of lay vs. lie, and according to Dictionary.com: So the latter is preferred: "...the many dead Space Marines that lie scattered about..." - "...in the games four episodes." Did you mean "in the first game's three episodes"? I only remember Knee-Deep in the Dead, The Shores of Hell, and Inferno. I also added an apostrophe for you. Dafydd can fit these updates in before LT checks his PMs for the first 10 completely (?) edited bios.

I cleared my cache (I wondered if that was why I didn't see the changes you made at first). The other two fixes are there; the ' symbol is still missing. Champion Edition (and Hyper Fighting) includes the apostrophe / prime symbol in its title. Look at these two pages. It's read "Street Fighter Two Dash: Champion Edition" in Japan, indicating that there's something between the number II and the word Champion (besides the colon).

Yeah, that's what I meant when I said Anchoring's not a bad idea. When Wikipedia swipes a character article and stuffs it into a list of other characters, you're redirected automatically. I just noticed Linearity didn't anchor any of the mascots whose Wiki pages are "List of (characters)." Of course, it doesn't hurt to steer the reader right to the mascot's section for quicker reading. All it is is more busywork (updating said links). But we have time. I'll do my share. Your Doom Trooper rewording works just fine. I think someone actually WILL tell us that he grins when he picks up weapons, but we can brush 'em off with your words of wisdom. If one mascot gets it, then we would have to link to every #niche for every mascot who appears in a "List of (Game) Characters" article on Wikipedia. If you'd rather not be that specific, just leave off the #Toad suffix. Yes, it's code name (two words). If two games under two systems are released the same year (and they're both first in their lists), the alphabet takes precedence (Game Boy, then Super NES). Page 21. Remember how I suggested listing the current company names in the "Created by" line but Linearity thought historical accuracy would work better? I've taken up his point of view (and applied that rule throughout my text file), so if you replaced any "Square" or "Squaresoft" with "Square Enix" or whatever, then that could delay Larry's analysis / implementation of the bios. Also, you think you can update the first post somehow? We wrote more than 130 bios, and any more mascots Photoshopped into that corner will likely have their bios written by one of us, so the need for Guidelines has kinda dwindled. Even the Sora bio has undergone changes. Since we're on the brink of completion, I think we need a shorter summary of what we've accomplished. I posted these before (maybe you missed them), but if you want to you can use them to replace the FAQ / Guidelines / Progress Report, which as I remember helped add up to more than 5,000 characters. So there I was, comparing the Azumanga Daioh avatars to one of Sakaki that I've been working on, when I noticed something curious. Yukari and Osaka in the (Anime) gallery are bitmaps with the names azumanga_yukari1.gif.bmp azumanga_osaka1.gif.bmp From what I've seen, a bitmap takes up more space than the average image file. Just to be sure, I converted these two to GIF format, compared pixels, and found the GIFs to be exact replicas, but in a smaller package. So here's the non-BMP stand-ins: LT: Danke. And of course, Sakaki: And Kyon from Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya: (Yep, it's the same defeated expression tried like 3 times prior, each time "not sharp enough" or similar.) LT: The linework looks too pixelated. Not feeling it, until the image looks smoother.

Cool, Dafydd. Any improvement, no matter how minor, help us in the long run. To prevent unwanted brow-furrowing, I think the word "ironic(ally)" and the statement "little is known about" can be omitted entirely, since the bio will say what IS known about the Doom Trooper. It wouldn't hurt to start this way: Also, he smiles when he picks up new guns and ammo, but when he fires for a few seconds, he looks mean / pissed / determined. Just to clarify. + "...and his green spacesuit shown at the end of each level." Leaving out "that is" keeps it succinct. Nice. + "...spendS his days..." = consistent present tense = the right move + "economic success" = more specific than "sold successfully" + The added commas in the last two sentences fit, leaving elbow room between ideas.

One way to cross-check these edited bios is to pluck stuff out, one detail at a time, and tie some of them into bigger issues / questions at the end. In this case, an asterisk * after a comment references a rule I think should be checked (at the bottom) so that other bios can follow suit, if needed. That way I won't have to expose the same nitpick within the first 50+ bios if you guys don't agree with it. So let's start with the first 10, from the Doom Trooper to Sora (comments after a plus + are compliments )... Doom Trooper + I liked the term "threequel" in Dafydd's original bio, but since the word means second sequel, and Doom 3 retells the first story (and isn't a story continuation of Doom II), "third installment" fits better, so props on that. Japan often receives their luxury a year before the rest of the world. **** For the sake of consistency, let's write the most recent name / hybrid of the original company / creator of a mascot, because links to their homepages give away their current status (Square Enix, SNK Playmore, Namco Bandai Games, etc.)

I can understand the stress of double- / triple- / quadruple-checking facts, formatting everything, and making sure links work and whatnot. Yeah, we're practically done. Once we sort out the remaining kinks we can PM Larry our .txt files and wait for new life to spring up in that random corner. Your point about quotes is very thought-provoking. Checking the ones in your editing packet was helpful in getting a better idea for what you considered fitting. (Btw kudos on giving mascots like Strider Hiryu, X, and Samus Aran better word balloons.) Basically, any quote should be read as a standalone piece of info, right? Anyone who's played a Lemmings game has heard the gerbils say "Let's go!" and "Oh no!", but those who haven't wouldn't get the context in which they're spoken. And since people might jump right to the quote section of a bio (if it's there), we want it to be a clear and unique statement / thought. So in my text file I've muted: Jago - I got the impression that saying the names of attacks (projectile or otherwise) doesn't count as a quote. Since Ness isn't yelling "PK Fire!" or "PK Thunder!" and Alex Kidd doesn't voice his Japanese rock-paper-scissors sound byte, I figured Jago's fireball shout of "ENDOKYUKEN!" didn't cut it either. (And no, he doesn't have after-battle boasts or anything.) Crono - I realized it's contradictory for a bio to say the mascot in question is a mute, yet add a quote further down the page, even if it's canonical. (By that token, shouldn't The Prince's quote be removed as well? After all, watkinzez writes that he "(a)ppear(s) mute throughout the game...") Bomberman - The only reason I put "Speed uppu!" in there was because of this mix. Except I couldn't verify whether Bomberman actually speaks or not, in any game. I'll hunt them down through every corner of my island, until I have every last banana from my horde back!!" in the Donkey Kong Country manual's story section, which IMO isn't half bad. Or should we only include in-game quotes? · The Wiki'ed Toyota Supra still says "Vroom vroom?" thanks to Larry's Toyota Disco bias. Should we have him change it?
