  1. HOLY FREAKING CRAP CATCHY MELODY ALERT What's with these tetris like games and good music? I have never played Columns but now I definitely want to. It's just a little repetitive, but that's actually what makes it so great, plus it's not repetitive in the way where it just loops some same part you've heard. Kinda like when you hear Frog's theme for a second time in Ailsean's Knights come marching home, there's just more stuff added to it and you want to hear it again. I love this stuff EDIT: What the heck. I just listened to the original. This remix is FAR superior to it. Someone should deremix this remix =) Make a chiptune outta it.
  2. Yes, this is a perfect example of funky melody/beats that is hardly memorable, but that's what makes it great! You listen to it once, think it's great, and about an hour later you totally forget how the tune went but you remember how sweet it sounded. You listen to it again, and it becomes even better. Yes that's kinda vague but it suits the song well, along with my own feelings which are forgotten right now because I haven't listened to it since yesterday and I need to fill my brain again! Or for layman's terms it doesn't sound repetitive at all, hence the forgetfulness of the tune. This also shares my thoughts well:
  3. The variation of the piano sounds so much cooler to me now that I compare pieces. I like the extension by itself when used in this mix, but I think the strings in the original compliment the original piano to make it sound better. But if I whistle just the piano, I like it better when this version's is whistled. As for the rest, just nice to listen to. No ear grating, don't remember any wrong notes (haven't listened to this recently actually), and might encourage you to get the game! Or listen to it's other music, and the wingless's other music. Because you must!
  4. I really like the piano at the beginning. It sounds like the Icewind Dale mix on here, has the same key or something (though at 0:17 it sounds a lot happier, and that's when I know it won't have that same Icewind Dale mix feel throughout the song). I kinda wish it would stay on that focus of key, even though it kinda still does when the guitar part comes in. But this is all personal preferences, and I'm probably talking about music terms all wrong, so stop laughing at me! I don't know, I really like to listen to it, but I feel it could definitely expand towards my liking through more variation from the original (haven't played the game, but looked up a midi to see the similarities), but that's just me.
  5. Yeah, D+ for DAMN GOOD PLUS! Intense variety. Massively funky. Vibrantly loud (the factor determining personal liking, most likely). You just gotta look past the fact it might hurt your eardrums and you're set! Well, I haven't heard the original. I'm going to do that now.... Ah, well, could only find them on vgmusic.com, but from them I can tell this mix is definitely original. This was made in ModPlug? whooeey.
  6. Pure genius. WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRGGGGGH!! This is definitely opening my cd of "crazy" OC songs. Nice live sound to it, random things added here and there to keep things from repeating. Next on the cd, Mario Bro's Dirty Mix! WHA-WHA-WHA-WHA-WHA-WHA-WHA-WHA-WHA-WHA-WHAT'S A FIVE DOLLA SHEEP?! Actually, it's a tough decision which should go first. I think dirty mix should go first since the whole song is crazy, then after the static at the end of that song, this immense scream of this song overcomes the listener, making their future kids have nightmares every night. Good times.
  7. I agree the original has to be one of my favorite pieces of music ever. That said, this remix is a nice song if you aren't solely thinking about Silent Hill at the beginning. It's definitely going on my cd of "heavy" remixes. The guitar takes it into a whole different direction from the original...until suddenly I can definitely hear the wonderful arpeggiating rhythm/melody which defined the mood to the original. At that moment I do not hear the remix anymore, I hear the original. Whenever I hear this song, I cry. Whistling to the tune doesn't help either.
  8. those off beat vibes make the song for me I love this song, though when it loops around the middle I get a sense of lack of direction...or something, bah who cares, it's great. The piano is great and I love that second vibe...thing layered over the original near the end.
  9. I can't really think of what would make this forum better, because all the changes I do think of have not so pleasant side effects. I have thought of asking to make permanent threads like this for each major remixing program, like in the reviews section. But what if it gets too large? You would have to search through a lot of stuff (it could be good stuff...or pointless) Eventually those threads in the initial post might get purged, which will leave this thread with massive questions and answers about one program. But then, wouldn't that be a good thing? I don't know, it hasn't happened yet. As djp asked, I wonder if someone would actually do it? I see it that someone could, since someone took the time to compile every single word in the "three word story" thread into one post. I have my own questions about everything, like the most effecient way of running any certain program, using all the hotkeys, knowing what tab does what, what combinations are good, etc. It's nice to look through a non-professional help file. It always sounds like they say too many things about one subject, but maybe that's just me.......yeah it's just me. Blah
  10. That second melody coming in mentioned sounds so cool and catchy. The organ man!!! It's so cool! Everyone should listen to this song once. Not something I would listen to constantly, as Rob has said. hehehe Rob....Rob the Helpless Good to listen to the old OC tunes once in awhile. I'm not one for musicality, so I can just say it sounds good. Maybe one day in the distant future I will learn eveerrryyyyttthhhhiiiinnnngggg.
  11. Yes, this remix is great. I can't find the words to describe its greatness. To anyone who hasn't downloaded it, do so now. Can't find anything wrong with it, even if you dislike the style in general. Definitely my favorite Megaman mix besides DiscoDan's Snakeman one. I can't believe more people haven't reviewed this =( Check out anything else by Gux, also.
  12. I don't know, I just...can't get into it. It sounds too much like the original to me, which I've heard a lot. *listens to it 500 times trying to like it* ahhhh, oh well, to each man his own.
  13. You will download now If you do not like doom music, you will download now If you worship doom music, you will download now If you don't feel like downloading it, you WILL DOWNLOAD IT if your speed is 1 byte per second, you will download now If you hate ambience, you will download this If you hate melody, you will download this (and you should be ashamed of yourself) You will download this song. All my friends will download it or have it shoved in their face and they will like it, even if at one point they didn't feel like downloading it. They will hear it, and so will you. I'm seriously loving Doom remixes.
  14. part at 1:49: totally awesome change of pace. Make sure to play this one loud with headphones. Don't pass it up just because you haven't played the original! Unless you hate songs that...I dont know...SOUND LIKE THIS!!! (read djp's for more information =) If I were to rename this, it would be "Funky in the Forest" =) just has that feel.
  15. Mmm, this is a perfect DDR-type song when the synth comes in at the 1:40 mark (time to make a DWI and shorten it!). The part I'm talking about also gives off a Dj Sammy - Heaven vibe. The rest is nice and quiet. Preetttyyyy. I'd LOVE to dance that synth part in DDR. As the title suggests - very melodic. I think I want to play Zillion now.
  16. Very good variation. It took several listens over a stretched pariod of time to get in the liking, but now has become one of my favorites. A friend of mine also likes it, who is a lot harsher critic than I am. Maybe not a pure funk piece, but to my ears it's 100% funkiness! Not repetitive at all (in the sense of massive loops) which is true about nearly all of djp's mixes...to me anyway.
  17. Yep, I got the feeling there might actually be too much ff6 on this site. After that I shot myself and said, "This is ff6 we are talkin about!" The game from my childhood that I thought would make tons of good mixes when I first visited here. The string sample at 2:27 reminded me of this for some reason, probably because that's the first time the melody really kicks in. I'd like to compliment on the title for the mix. It fits really appropriately with everything used here; especially the bassline. I can agree with djp on the guitar, but how could you have ruin without guitars? It all falls back on the title for me. (Don't mess with World of Ruin's knowledge on ruin! ...AAAAH! I'M SORRY!) One final thing. Being 6:06 minutes long, it sure doesn't feel like it! This song seems over right when it starts. Weird.
  18. This song is old. I downloaded it when I was new. I liked it very much, because the original probably was very good. I still haven't heard the original, so I treat this as the original. As mentioned before, it takes a second to get good, but when it did, turned out this melody was one I really liked. When it changes to piano, that's the best. It slowly gets better. The melody is a bit short, but one of my favorites. Rubs the right way. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
  19. Oh boy, after playing this series just for this song, it's amazing how much was expanded from the original. The original was very minimal, almost awkward sounding. Listening to this reminds me of all the games I've played. You always come across a sad part. Makes me want to cry :'| I don't play this much because I'm not in the mood for sadness a lot. Ugh, can't say much, just listen!
  20. You want heavy metal remixes? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *beats random passerbyers with 2x4s while screaming* Any fan of heavy guitar based remixes will love this. It progresses so well, using a great synth...thing before the guitars. You would think the remix would be great even by staying with the synths, but then some ripping guitars come into play that would sound great on loop while driving on the highway. I put this on a cd a long time ago. Oh the memories. A lot of the feeling has drained out of me from listening to it so many times. A good pause is a great remedy.
  21. Mmmm, I listened to this to no end. DJP really makes this sound fresh, like there are new melodies thrown in (are there really). He said in his review there is a part of the first stage in here. I might be able to hear it, but it's been awhile so I could be listening to the wrong part. I can't find anything wrong with this. I can't seem to find things wrong with any of the mixes I like. Who would want to? This brings a feeling of power. Something something something ahhhh I suck at reviews.
  22. Having listened to all mutagene's Shadow of the Beast ReMixes, then listening to this one, a big change occurs: IT'S HAPPY! YAY! All Mutagene's are awesome, didn't mean to make people think I only like happy songs. The melody here REALLY sticks to you. If you're like me, and haven't played this game, and like the melody, and have listened to a ton of other remixes from games you haven't played, and like THEIR melodies, then this melody falls under the catagory of "I can recognize this from the first note!". Man that was pointless, but the melody is definitely the strong point in this one. One part is played a lot. Definitely sounds like a journey. You will get this and remember it!
  23. Hm, I just so happened to randomly click this in my Chrono folder. I can't keep up with who remixed this song, because there are so many. Since it's just another zeal mix, and I don't feel like talking, I'd just like to say this is definitely one of the better ones.
  24. UHHHH, FF9 Battle? Am I the only one who's played FF9? That's no battle theme. That's a remix of "The Loss of Me", played when Beatrix is around. Actually there is a time where Steiner and Beatrix fight alongside each other. There's a more heroic version of The Loss of Me played during that part (which sounds like the method used in this mix). Ah yes, that was a good part in the game. Anyway, just thought I'd clear that up unless by some weird twist of fate I'm wrong, and to say this is definitely a song that sticks in your head (Very weird "factoid" that counterpart is. I never noticed it until right now)
  25. Woooo! Very easy listening techno, not hard on the ears at all. Never played the game (shame on me I guess), but I still love this anyway. DJ 3dn3r has only made 2 remixes on this site (this and excitebike), both heavily electronic, and both aren't bad at all. The excitebike one is weird though =)
