  1. This one makes me laugh every time I listen to it. I'm not sure if it's the cheezy guitar or voice samples that are too repetive and don't sound too good, but I seem to enjoy this one in a weird sort of way. I don't think it was supposed to be funny at all, and it's still pretty well done, albeit short, but I can't help cracking up whenever I hear it. Whatever works, I guess...
  2. Mazedude has always been an a top contributor to this site, and I love pretty much all of his remixes, but I've got to say that this one feels a bit lacking to me. There's some variation, but I guess I expected to sound different than it did. Anyway, it's still a quality remix and definetely worth your time...
  3. I've only played MachRider once or twice, so I don't really recognize the tune, but still this is a great piece of work. All the distortion and effects were great, and I could really tell that some nice work was put into this one. Furthermore, although it doesn't elaborate a whole lot, none of the effects are the least bit unpleasent nor does it get annoyingly repetitive. Nice job, munky...I'm glad that some more obscure games are getting good coverage...
  4. Scott Peeples is probably the top on this site of remixers I admire, but actually don't like too much in terms of his style. I'm not too fond of the way he arranges things - I find it to be a bit overproduced and doesn't feel right to me. Still, this is one quality remix that is extremely well done, and if you're not me, you'll probably like it a lot
  5. This mix is awesome, especially when the guitar kicks in with the theme at about 1 minute into the piece. The only gripe I have is that I find all the "pump up the volume" and "go go!" stuff to be a bit annoying. Otherwise, this is a phat DKC remix, muthafuka! EDIT: This remix is so good, it's made me make a complete ass of myself!
  6. Almost a too optimistic interpretation of a very dark theme, but still a good solid nice sounding mix. Progresses nicely, and ends in a nice fashion, too. Overall, a very well arranged, quality remix that covers the Metroid title theme well...(how many times must I re-iterate myself to get the point across! Dowload it...nnnn...whenever you feel like...but get ready to hear some quality mix-age when you do.)
  7. I honestly can say that I don't enjoy this - mainly because I love this theme so much that I think it deserves the best remix ever...and that's a little bit too much to expect from a newcomer. Anyway, as said before, the dark password music doesn't really fit with the happy techno that dominates the rest of the piece. I also don't like the bassline...something sounded a little off, and everything sounded a bit bleepy bloopy techno-y for me. Finally, as DJP says, the reverb is kind of weird, and imo the samples aren't great and there's not a whole lot of elaboration anywhere. Still, despite all my gripes, I think it's good enough to warrant a listen to see if you like it. Some people do, but I don't get into this sort of thing...
  8. Contrasting to the last post's length, here's my review: Good tune, solid remix, download now.
  9. I have to completely disagree with Rob here. I think this is a spectacular and emotional remix that's just about as exicting as can be for an orchestral mix. Just as DJP says, the transition between "sections" is seamless, the instruments are all good quality, and everything is very well arranged. Not much else I can say here besides download it, especially if you like orchestral stuff, because this is just about the best you can get for that genre.
  10. I dunno about this one...when I first looked at it, I thought it would be a crazy industrial version of some sort, but instead there was this. It seems a bit weak and simplified in the melody part, which made it a lot harder for me to get into it. Thankfully, around 2:50 it starts to sound good to my ears, but that part is short-lived. In general, it just seems like it's missing something... Also, the samples aren't great, but I can understand how hard it is to get quality samples for wind instruments. Overall, it's a good effort, but not as good as some of the other remixes of the DKC main theme avalible on this site.
  11. I absolutely LOVE this remix and the way it was arranged. I love the distortion guitars and how it fades in at the beginning - it sounds like the end part of "Helter Skelter" by the Beatles. Also, near the end (I'm not sure where), if you listen closely over all the distortion, you can hear the Zelda theme played by a quiet piano which also abruptly ends the piece. Overall, a definite download. If nothing else, it had a prime spot on my first OCremix Cd after the Rabbit Joint mix...
  12. Damn, this is a spicy remix! It sounds like something straight from the Simpsons (obviously it's a nod to Danny Elfman). It's short, sweet, and just about all over the place, so download now for an...uh....GREAT remix.
  13. Mario RPG is a game I've played through many many times, and I'd have to say that this mix is really good. The choice of of instruments fits the "adventurous" theme of the music perfectly, and I especially like the bassoon, although it gets drowned out a little bit by the higher instruments in its solo at about 1:07. It's also a bit short, but I don't know too many things present that could've really been expanded upon. So overall, a highly recommended mix.
  14. This is one of the first, if not the first, remix I listened to. Zelda 3 is one of my favorite games and the Darkworld theme is my favorite tune from the game, so naturally I downloaded first. My preferences aside, when I first listened to it, I was just blown away by the quality of everything in this mix. Although it's nothing really fancy notewise, the instruments, the rythym, and how it was put together all makes complete sense, and most of all, sound good together. A definite must to download, esp. if you really love Zelda 3 like I do.
  15. I haven't read the whole huge thread, so I don't know if anyone has mentioned this, but the second time you fight Mizar in the underrated n64 game "Jet Force Gemini", is one of the toughest boss battles of all time, imo....
