  1. I need price suggestions.

I want to sell my kinda-sorta brand new Xbox(was just repaired 2 months ago from Red Lights) without the hard drive, an extra controller, and my wireless network adapter.(Official XBox brand)

I was thinking of pricing it at $425.

Without the hard drive, that is pretty steep.

Anything more than $350 is too much IMO, and even that is pushing it.

  2. Wow, thank you for the response this has gotten. I was very afraid I would not be able to get any solid results.

I am available for an in-depth email interview, P.S.

I will let you know asap. Do you have AIM?

edit: are you also reaching people outside of OCR for this survey? ...because, being a fairly gamer-centric website, your results may end up being a little skewed if you only ask here (unless you're trying to ask gamers only (but your questions do allow for non-gamers to answer)).

The survey group is being contained to OCR for now, since it is assumed that everyone here has at least played some video game. To be totally honest, I don't want to expand it further. People are just more mature here.

Also, if you need another interview, I'm more than willing. PM if you need it.

I might do that. I need at least one interview for my purposes. Do you have AIM?

    A note to all:

Thank you for your interest and participation. I will try to figure out some way to display the results. I'm sure most of you are not interested in reading my 45 page research paper.

    EDIT

Holy crap. The survey was posted just over 24 hours ago, and I have 77 people who have completed the survey, and 3 with partial completion.

In light of this, I might expand on it, since the free survey monkey surveys only allow 10 questions.

    This is fantastic!

    Thank you all for participating!

  3. Hello OCR.

As the end of this semester comes closer, final projects and papers are looming ahead of us.

I am taking a research course where I need to conduct a survey.

If some of your here wouldn't mind taking a few minutes to help me out, it would be greatly appreciated.

It is ten questions about your video gaming habits.

NOTE: I am not totally aware of OCR's policy toward surveys. If this is not ok, I understand.

  4. I have never beaten Ristar.

I use a gameshark when I play pokemon (fuck trading).

    I never finished Chrono Trigger.

I have a gamer score dangerously close to 10,000.

I sold most of my games, and regretted it. (Including SOTN, and sonic 1,2,3&k, Links Awakening, original Kirby GB cart, etc)

  5. Maco I disagree, it seemed to me, it followed pretty damn close to the comic. few changes, nothing super huge. Overall

    Re-read my post...

It followed it very close..aside from the things it outright cut and that ending.

Anyone notice the name printed on the "device" used at the end?

    "Project S.Q.U.I.D."

    Clever maybe?

I see the novel as a many layered story. The movie removes several layers... and several of them are the wrong layers.

    It was "good".

I cannot imagine how 2 hours of character development and 45 minutes of fight scenes would be impressive to the casual viewer.

The brutally of Rorschach made me love him a lot. In the theater I went, people started clapping for him when

[spoilers] He savagely cut up that kidnapper after he fed her to those dogs. [/spoilers]

I think the scene in the novel was much more effective.

  6. It was good.

    Not great.

    Good.

    ...It could have been great.

Anyone else surprised at the amount of gore in the film? It seemed very unnecessary for most scenes.

    SPOILERS:

I hate that they destroyed the scene when Rorschach is "born". Turning him from a sociopath into an axe wielding crazy was disappointing. But I nitpick...

    Also, worst use of Hallelujah.

Now whenever I hear that song I'll just end up thinking about that drawn out sex scene.

    Yes.

  7. I was wondering if anybody's Xbox has lasted at least a year before it got the Red Lights of Death.

I got my Xbox in July 2007 and the first time it broke it only lasted 8 months.

Got it repaired then it only lasted 10 months before breaking again.

Has anybody else had shitty luck or even worse luck than me?

My Xbox is on it's way back right now with it's new Jasper unit thank god.

But I forgot to mention the power supply when I called them. Do you think that may be a problem as well? I think so since all the newer Xbox's being produced have the power supply which uses less power.

My brother's xbox is one of the original release units. Still works perfectly.

  8. Someone wrote an article detailing why Half-Life is a funner game than Half-Life 2... it was quite an interesting ( and rather correct, in my opinion ) look at the differences between the two games.

    Useless post without link.

    And I agree with bleck.

    Xen was awesome

Well, I'll concede that it wasn't the best part of the game, but the whole setting overall was absolutely stunning. Especially in 1998. I had never seen anything look this good, ever. And the low grav was fun :D

No, it looked fine for the most part.

I refer more to the platform jumping and overpowered enemies. All of that leading to the final boss just...

  10. Really wish you would have waited for Black Mesa Source, which is a remake of Half Life, and completely overhauled physics, etc.

See, I really prefer console to PC. I don't even have a steam account. Even when this comes out, I probably won't play it. That is unless they release it on XBLA. That would be sweet.

Wow, this will be helpful for clearing up anything I might have missed.

    Thanks!
