A lot of sites are verfying that URL for Krystal as true. cool. So either an Assist or Playable. I think she'll function well as either... there is an apparent lack of new female characters... I mean, ZSS is cool and all, but she's essentially shiek from the future with a gun. Hehe. ^_~ I'm cool either way. I've never been a fan of Krystal, but a playable character that has a staff would be really darn cool.

EPIC!!! Wow!! DEDEDE! I'm ... surprised! I'm happy. I really dig the pic of him getting carried around. haha. But...... I just don't know how to say his name, back when the SNES was around and they had Nintendo kiosks in stores where you could watch promo video's they always called said his name like 'Duh-Day-Day'. Now when I hear it on TV and stuff it's 'Dee-Dee-Dee'. Any official pronunciation because I'm totally in the dark on how the hell to say his name? totally excited though. EDIT: AND... I wonder if he'll have his southern accent from the Television show. haha.

neato. 3 minutes isn't much though. Not much at all. I guess camera mode in Brawl will have a video recording option instead of just snapshots. So is that what you think that blurred out option was during the camera update a few weeks ago?

Hmm... I gotta be honest, I can't understand how people take those showfloor people seriously, they're about the equivalent of a hall monitor, except they don't have a hall pass or... well, any authority whatsoever. They're baby sitters that are supposed to pimp Nintendo's stuff in a "GOSH DARN EXCITING WAY... uk-yuk!" and make sure you don't break the machines playing them. Then they usher you away so they clean up the showfloor. Get real they know nothing! I mean, hell, these people (no offense to them) are peons that are in no way involved with the creation of the game and know nothing more than we do (in fact, they probably know less.) My two gold coins. AND... I can just feel the impending updates of nothingness these next two weeks (or more!!). It'll be constant updates of stuff we've already seen from the demo. Advance Wars Assist Trophy. Ike's Final Smash. Some more pokemon. what else do we not really care about seeing? Haha. That'll be it. hehe. oh, and I don't think they'll scrap Captain Falcon. He's the main character of F-Zero. They have to keep him in the game, imo. SAKURAI: This is Captain Falcon from Melee! Isn't he grand? SAKURAI: We're showing you a Melee screencap because we didn't put him in Brawl. Isn't it magnificent? We were worried about misrepresentation actually... SAKURAI: We will replace Captain Falcon with the most obscure F-Zero character imaginable... DRIVER OF THE SUPER PIRAHNA ... the SINGING MEGASTAR DIVA ... KATE ALEN! SAKURAI: You go girl! Isn't she funky fresh? SAKURAI: In one fell swoop, we will tackle the troubles of racial intolerance in the world of Smash Bros! SAKURAI: She is very black is she not? ... mark my words.

MAN!! I too (at first) thought it was some kind of DS functionality. Man, if you could have a DS connected to the Wii and have someone drawing a level the entire time, or even just drawing static levels, that would be so much fun. Anyway, about level. I love it. I'm glad to see interesting levels like this, that are unique and just plain fun. The choice in music is certainly funny and off the wall. I dig this one for creativity. It's not only Nintendo's characters being represented, but their actual hardware! awesome!

Even though fanboys are annoying, console wars are good for the consumer. How? It forces the manufacturers to innovate and improve their systems. We wouldn't have Nintendo systems with DVDs if the Playstation didn't battle it out with the N64. We'd still be with cartridges if Nintendo had their way. We wouldn't have motion sensing capability on PS3 (and future consoles) if it weren't for the Wii. Both the Wii and PS3 allow for music playback in game which the original Xbox pioneered. Admittedly, the Wii and PS3 don't utilize this feature very much but it is possible. And XboxLive will be emulated by Sony and Nintendo (eventually... haha, not anytime soon but they'll try though...). And look, Nintendo's Mii concept was emulated by Sony in Home. And home is now being emulated by Microsoft, which was just recently announced. For the consumer this is good. We get new stuff, new content for the console(s) we purcashed. Without competition we would still be in the N64/Playstation generation. There would be no need to innovate, no need for better graphics, because we would all be at the mercy of one company giving us the same old stuff. Sure, we'd get games, but we wouldn't see interesting things like motino control and online play if Nintendo was in charge from 1990 on. Seriously, their online model was in response to the overwhelming success of XboxLive. Reggie has said this in interviews. Competition is good. Fanboys can kick and scream how companies are stealing each other's ideas, but in the end we get better systems out of it, now and in the future.

New SmashBros, new rules. I loved WD-ing... but... seriously, for all the new stuff they're adding in I'm okay with it. I just have to come to terms with the fact that Wavedashing was actually an exploit and was just an overlooked move from Melee. That's the toughest part. I would imagine all of the "advanced techniques" we're used to will be gone. I mean, all Nintendo has to do is look at the move repositories all over the internet and make fixes for the movements. Nintendo wants the game by their rules: they don't want the player's figuring out ways to exploit their controls... which, has its pros and cons. It will certainly level the playing field between the newbies and seasoned players, but not enough that a new player will just own a good player. Like it's been said above, if you can't play without Wavedashing then you better re-learn by February... and if it is the case that you'll lose to mediocre player with out WD-ing, then lets face it, you're just bad at Smash Bros. On one hand, since I like to WD, I'm a little sad to see it go, but since Nitnendo is refining the game to how they want it, it makes me a little more comfortable in the overall balance of the game. I think this game will be well-balanced, especially with the cleanup surrounding "advanced techniques." I seriously doubt there will be many moves in Brawl like WaveDashing. Nintendo wants it by the book so a new player will see what a seasoned player does, and will know how to do it. Nintendo as a company doesn't tend to like really secret moves... they just don't do it, so I'm willing to bet if there even are "advanced techniques" that people somehow learn, that there will only be like one or two. My money is on Nintendo cleaning up the control functions so much that the game will almost exactly how Nintendo wants people to play it. I'm cool with it. Again, it was said earlier by someone else, but New Brawl, New style of play. I doubt anyone would say "SCREW THIS GAME, I REFUSE TO PLAY IT BECAUSE OF NO WAVEDASHING!" All these people just need to stop complaining. Bitching and moaning will not get the functionality back into the game. Nintendo doesn't want it there since it's been removed. Nothnig we can do about it. Nothing. At. All. So deal and move on. The game looks fantastic, and still will require skill to play. Different from Melee. So you've got 4 months to get used to it. . .

I just wanted to give my two cents on the subject of Little Mac. Love PunchOut! Happy with the assist trophy. HOWEVER, to people saying he's to generic compared to other characters, Killer Instinct had TJ combo, also a boxing character that worked. Yes, I realize that KI is a different type of fighting game, but it shows that boxers can have a wealth of interesting moves, (rolling punches, running punches, etc.) could be done, and I don't think anyone disagrees with that (in fact someone that didn't want LittleMac as playable stated this.) Same with Balrog in Street Fighter II. Both boxers with plenty of interesting move sets. all in all, seeing a fighter that is strictly into one real style of fighting might be an interesting change of pace for a character in Smash Bros... everyone has an interesting eclectic mix of moves so far (it would seem). Seeing someone strictly into say drunken kung fu would be real interesting.... and... images of a drunken Pichu doing kung fu has entered my head. haha. Good times. anyway, thats my two coins. Btw... did anyone see this Mario and Sonic at the Olympics video? What Mario says is absolutely hilarious... http://us.video.aol.com/player/launcher?ar=us_en_video_748x541_full&mode=1&pmmsid=2003501

sweet!! I love HomeRun Contest, it will be so much fun with this competitive aspect mixed with it, as opposed to just the record setting deal. And co-op sounds like so much fun. Maybe we can have a tournament mode for 2v2 sandbag.

that level is awesome looking! Exciting! I always loved the giant hyrule temple. I'm glad they're bringing back some more large ones.

hehehe, like getting viking horns on your hard hat and bulging bicep muscles?

Yeah, we'll no doubt get all of the stuff we've learned in individually wrapped, resealed (*cough* rehashed?) updates. Just like they did with showing us new characters from their own official trailers. Prepare for updates like the infamous "THIS IS HOW YOU ATTACK" updates. Haha. Okay, well, maybe not that bad, but yeah, we'll get all the new stuff from the videos we've seen all this week. No doubt. Which will essentially make this week at the dojo boring probably ... that's my prediction. Maybe they'll throw in a character update to break it up.

Hey Gecko, do you mind me asking what your specs on your laptop are. My computer is starting to age and I was just wondering if I may be able to run it. In fact, part of the reason I was kind of sliding on playing UT3 was because I was worried my specs wouldn't be up to snuff.

Listen, online competition (specifically rankings) with Nintendo's bad online network is a bad idea. Just try playing Phantom Hourglass, once someone thinks they're going to lose they disconnect. They need a better system. It won't work right now, maybe in the future, maybe in an update, but right out of the box it will be flawed, just the way Phantom Hourglasses point based online ranking system is. The incentive is for good players to DC right before they lose to keep their points. They need a simple way to set up a lobby, meet up with people and play them, but they need to keep rankings out imo, because it just screws with the entire online mode, especially since Nintendo has demonstrated they don't want to show the number of disconnects a player has done. Seriously, you should be penalized for disconnecting in ranking modes. Anyway, that's my two cents. In an ideal world, online modes make me happy where you can just create a game lobby, have player's join then start the game. It's simple, allows the games to stay friendly, and still gives those online gamers their bragging right for beating people.

So true! haha. Linebeck is awesome. I don't want to give away any spoilers but the one cutscene early in the game when he drops... someone... was really really funny. I love Linebeck! Zelda never has had a really self-serving good guy and it's great breath of fresh air for the series.

@ Eulogic That hell looking level in Fire emblem is a really weird area in the GBA version. I don't know if its in any of the other Fire Emblems. There's like a valley with monsters flying around everywhere and it's all red and firey like that. When I saw it in Brawl, I was like "oooh! That lame part of Fire Emblem GBA looks really sweet in Brawl." Hehehe. ^_~ True, though, I always thought Nintendo saying it would be a launch title was kind of silly. I mean, they had no online system really set up yet, and additionally, when they said they started development on Brawl, it would have taken only a little over a year to produce the game on that schedule, which is really ridiculous for such a high profile game like Brawl. That would have been hella rushed, seriously. I can understand the miffed-ness though too. They shouldn't commit to dates early on that are just silly.... although I wonder what they're exact development plans were at the time when they were saying that. I agree though, its way better to play it conservatively and ambiguously with those dates when you know there's going to be a lot of shuffling going on. Part of me feels like Nintendo realized that "Oh, Wii's are going to sell out this Christmas too, then we can afford for Smash Bros to come out later." Nintendo doesn't really need hot software like Brawl coming out to keep Wii's selling like they are... however, I'll argue that to keep their hardcore audience around they'll really need to get the game out soon, especially with Xbox360's massive library and now that Halo 3 is out... plus the fact that MGS4 is looming on the horizon in March. Strategically, I guess having it come out in February may boost sales shortly after the holidays. EDIT: BY THE WAY, where is the video of the Smartbomb item? I'd really like to see that and I can't seem to find it. Anyone think we'll see one massive update tonight with all the press demo information? Or maybe something new?

Inexcusable? If it's that "inexcusable" then stick it to the man and don't buy the game? Not that inexcusable after all? eh? Well, honestly speaking, as a Game Development major, a game is never really complete. It's passable. The developers 99% of the time end up dropping features towards the end of the development cycle to get the game out on the scheduled time. Those few months that they've delayed the game will allow them to fix things and perhaps add a few features that they may have had to drop... perhaps extras to really flesh out the game. Yes it does look like SSBB is really far in its development cycle, nearly complete, but we don't know what features they have put in the game that aren't working or are buggy.... stuff like that. If they didn't delay it, whatever features they're working on would have to be dropped so you could excuse them. but then you'd be pissed that the game could have had more stuff in it. Every game developer is racing against their budget and time. It's not inexcusable. They're trying to add stuff... improve the game. Who knows what the reason is... it could be any number of things... music related? Balancing? Menu options? Levels? Characters (probably not this far into development...). but we really don't know. the only thing certain is that Sora believes that Smash Bros can be better if they have an extra 2 months. That's a lot of time to polish a game. They say a game is polished in the last 2 months of development. So theoretically, the extra 2 months will add that much more time for the game to fix bugs and hammer out any problems they're having. So get the game in December that's incomplete, or get it in February that's more complete? The delay will only make the game better, and more likely than not, will fix little issues like bugs that will piss us off years later.

DELAY?! NOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

I love this game. I've beaten it and I'm now just trying to get the rest of the gems I missed and any treasure I can get my hands on... AND ship parts. Those damned ship parts. Haha. Really though, this game should be called "Pimp my Pirate Ship" "Those are some mad dope rock spinners, foo'!" "Yeah, hit me up at Beedle's, fo sho durdy. Peace... " "Southeast side ocean, REPRESENT!!" "YOU GOTTA HIT US UP, TO GET A PIMPED OUT RIDE. YOU GOTTA PIMP MY ... SHIIP." ... i went to far... but this was a fun game. <3 I JUST HATE THE PEOPLE that disconnect in the middle of a game where I'm rocking. It's almost like you have to trick people into thinking they're winning so you can win at the end... it's kind of a broken experience since you lose all progress and don't get any reward for their misdeeds. Online mode is fun though when it works. I need to trade some more so I can get some more ship parts though. Haha... oh and Linebeck is probably my most favorite Supporting Zelda character now... surpassing Midna. He's got so much character and charm imo.

Seriously, no worries. The people that started the company get a load of cash, EA gets the "name." It's okay. Pretty soon the good developers from the company will leave because of EA, start another company (free from the mighty hand of EA) and release killer titles from there. BioWare will go under with EA manning it. Once the new EA-free company is profitable, EA will buy that company (again). Lather, rinse, repeat.

Love it. and the fact that the spring stays on the ground is awesome... I can imagine some wicked team uses for that.

okay, so apparently after I updated this song MySpace decided NOT to put it online because its retarded. So I've reuploaded it... I can't believe it was "processing" one track for over a week. That's ridiculous and stupid. Anyway, its up. and an update on the vocals; They'll be coming very very soon. I talked to the vocalist and she's totally onboard and ready to start singing in Gaelic!

Someone mentioned the N team... Seriously... Megaman, Simon, and captain N. That's all we need. That's it. Already have Pit. We're 1/4th of the way there! lol. haha, yeah, after thinking about it, my money is on MegaMan's Brawl appearance. so wait, did Captain N show up anywhere outside of North America? Does Japan even know about him? edit: Captain N for Brawl!
-
Totally onboard! and if you keep pressing b and holding down it charges up just like in Sonic 2 and 3!! That would be sooo sweet! @ JayBell Master Chief wasn't in any Nintendo games. There's talk of Halo DS, but I doubt MC will be in Smash. Maybe the next version of Smash brothers though. Only characters that have appeared on Nintendo consoles will be in Smash. Sakurai has said this officially. Cloud technically was a summon on the GBA version of Kingdom Hearts... so... I guess technically it's possible but I doubt it, unless Nintendo wants all the old Square fans to hop on the bandwagon (which they would... Square has almost all RPG fans under their girly-anime-man thumbs)... seriously, Cloud+Snake+Sonic+Mario is a killer lineup, but I doubt it. I seriously, seriously, seriously, doubt it. Hardcore doubt it. The more I think about it, the more logical a choice is picking a character from a Capcom franchise... Belmont, Megaman, or Ryu. or even viewtiful joe. or A Resident Evil character. Capcom has a ton of great characters and to me is the best candidate for a 3rd party appearance in Smash since Nintendo and Capcom worked together on quite a few of the Zelda titles on GameBoy Color back in the day, and even some recent ones. Capcom supports Nintendo with great software usually before other systems get stuff (Resident Evil 4, Viewtiful Joe, Killer 7)so I think it's logical to make a guess that they'll be the next (and last?) character to appear, if Sakurai even lets one more 3rd party character in.... he said 2 or 3, remember?

There has been a lot of games coming out first in NA and later in Japan... if SSBB does this, it wouldn't be the first, so there's still hope.
