  1. Yep, i've got Sytrus. Thanks for the tip! Actually, I've already tried lots of things. I think the problem isn't really the sound ; the lead part i'm working on is pretty dull by itself, i'll try harmonizing a bit and changing the articulation. Anyway, here's what i mostly use for lead sounds : - saw oscillators - 12 an 24dB lowpass filters (nice for modulation) - a bit of distortion or overdrive (sounds better when applied only to mid and low frenquencies) - flangers (fantastic to make the sound thinner, or wider, and add some expression) - FM synthesis (yep, you were right, Nase), it helps making rich sounds without using distortion, which is useful when you want to play some chords (other than power chords). - low cut filters - oversampling, often necessary in the high range -... this is it, for now. Maybe i'll post some more stuff if i find anything interesting.
  2. Hello OCR I'd like to make a saturated lead sound, something close to a lead guitar, with modulation capabilities, vibrato and pitch bend. I've already tried several VSTi but i just can't make it sound nice, especially in the high range. Is there a particular VST i could use? What kind of synthesis suits best for this? Thx
  3. lol that must be the first track i ever attempted to remix! but that was four years ago, and it sounds like crap. Thanks for reminding me this aaaawesome track, i'm back to it, right now^^!
  4. Ok Gario, you won.

Now can someone please post something useful? Like ideas for the Dynamite Heady remix project^^?

  5. lol Do you mean they're bad enough not to say anything useful about them? Like, you know, ADVICE? I agree though, this soundtrack deserves as much respect as Sonic 3. I really don't have much time to spend on this, so for know i'm just stuck with FL Studio, and it's a pain in the ass to have it sound "real". Now we've all heard what you can do with cubase and a guitar,so why don't you give it a shot?
  6. Why thank you, that's quite encouraging^^! Yet i'm not satified with the "guitar" sounds. If anyone out there knows a virtual instrument or sampler with a nice saturated sound, please let me know, that would really help me out. I'm trying to put this on Reason. I'm not really familiar with this soft, but it definitely sounds better than FL. Oh and Mokram, there's no way you're getting away with it like that lol, I can't do all the job on my own either!
  7. here you go! my contribution of FL Studio overly saturated crap! it's not the whole piece, but gives an idea. oh and i know, there is no intro, no outro, no real guitar, not much actually.
  8. Hello there. When I first played this game, like ten years ago, the soundtrack really blew my mind. I've been playing it around with FL Studio for some time now, but i just can't get it to sound nice... If i manage making some cool stuff, i'll be posting it here. Not sure though. Anyway, good luck with your remixes, Mokram.
  9. nice funky bass, cool piano and... where the hell did u get this violin sound from? drums do need some more work, though...
  10. hey, the electric thingy sample... i heard that before... were did u find it? (yeah, i remember, it was a piece from Tool...i dont remember the title, though)
  11. er, well. I think its useless to talk about the kick anymore, is it? Come on, the orchestral part is great!
  12. Rock'n roll! yeah, sure, the guitar is perfect, but... hey, I've never played Castlevania (i know, i know, shame on me) but the soundtrack must be rock all the way, aint it?
  13. what can I say? this is exactly what sonic is supposed to sound like. Fast, really nice pads. It could be in the game itself (well, the first level, cuz sonic turns out to be more techno at the end, lol)
  14. DiToRsIoN, uh? Ya can't make more industrial than this. That's good, cauz it's what any industrial listener is looking for Funny, i think i heard sometime that sounded like the Sonic&Knuckles Lava Reef theme...
  15. I havent heard lots of dub among the remixes, but this definitely is dub, and hi quality. Sounds a little like Kruder & Dorfmeister, am I wrong? Maybe the drums got a little too much treble, but my gear at the moment isn't very reliable.
  16. Ok, I wont make any word games about the remix being "cool", but, well... no bassline, ultra-delayed pad...yeah, its cool. It's frozen.
  17. Hey! this is one of my favourite FF musics! These strings are amazing. The style fits perfectly to the original. (actually, I had planned working on this music already, but I'm less than a newbie in arrangement, and I've been on anoter project, my first one, for some time;) Well, there's where you recognize pro's, I guess.
  18. Nice drums on a sweet echoed synth... this sounds like trip-hop to me, even if there are some trance like parts. Works great on 3D sound.
  19. ...wow. Impressive. Hey, I've never tried to rec myself singing, but I wish I could start singing like this. The pitch in some parts reminds me,as strange as it can sound, of oriental music. Nice echo too. The music sounds a little like some 80's classics but the effects and synths are different. Well, whatever. I just want more.
  20. really cool, but the 4/4 beat might be a little boring on a 5:40 remix
