  1. Hey Darkesword... What happens if ALL of your picks are somebody's #1?  Do you do a second runoff? Or do you use a different method to determine who gets what?

It can never hurt to extend your list up to 10 entries. The worst that can happen is it will be ignored. At least this way you won't be disappointing about getting a random song.

  2. This should be fun. Guess I'll make time :)

    1) Toxic Seahorse (X3)
    2) Blast Hornet (X3)

    3) Vanishing Gungaroo (X7)

    4) Shining Hotarunicus / Izzy Glow (X5)

    5) Crystal Snail (X2)

    ...

    6) Magna Centipede (X2)

    7) Gravity Beetle (X3)

    8-) Launch Octopus (X1)

PS: I'm teamless :/ Any takers?

Edit: I'm done comparing / rearranging my choices.
Edit 2: Ok no one has my top pick now. :)

  3. I agree that the chalices are a let down. The randomization could be done waaaay better. Feels like dark cloud style level generation and the environments and enemy placement are not random enough to not get boring quickly. A randomization style like from the game dragons dogma dark arisen would have fared much better. Also the reward system feels flawed for the chalice dungeons. I guess hoping to find the blood rock and alternate rune slot weapons are the prizes.

  4. There are two things that can make this game easy beyond memorizing enemy attack patterns.

    1) level your weapons and find the monsters that drop the materials to do this.

    2) level your vitality stat. Even if you get it to only 20 that will make a huge difference. I was having trouble near the fourth boss with a waste of skin character with 8 vitality and the kidnappers were one shotting me with their wimpy kick.

As a side note, I really enjoy playing an arcane build with a fire Ludwig blade and oil urns. Bosses don't last long with that combination.

For advanced techniques you need to learn to dodge roll effectively (memorizing enemy move sets help with this).

Also you can use your gun to interrupt an enemy's attack animation in order to perform a riposte. This makes dealing with some enemies very trivial.

  5. Thanks for all the love peeps, I'm not used to these types of compliments though. Anyways I've got to solve a funding issue if I want to make this a yearly occurrence otherwise it'll be an on and off again every two or three years thing. Ryan mentioned possibly trying a kickstarter thing to help with it so I'll see. I actually owe Shariq a lot for the success too since he started the megaman competitions (inspiration) and I borrowed heavily from his format.

  6. Hey sorry for my tardiness. I've paid Brandon and MushroomSword for the last round.

To finalize this competition I still need payment info for gercr and Cosmic (I'll send Garpocalypse's with these final two when I get word or within a week if I hear nothing).

Thanks everyone! We have some great songs now :)

Oh yeah, If you think I can improve this format for future contests please offer me feedback. Brandon has already expressed a desire for a clearcut rules section. Things like the time of year being hosted (Magfest conflict), the time periods for mixing (Saturday night EST deadline too early?, would Sunday night be a good deadline?). I'm interested to hear about any problems that participants who couldn't submit ran into and if there is something that could be done differently to alleviate these issues. Did voting feel fair? If not suggestions to better the experience are welcome.

  7. Ok, Charlie Round Two remixes are up and the voting thread is open. Check the first page post. I've also revised / added some details regarding how to vote when there are less than four entries.

    1) Any remixer competing in the round who votes will automatically receive 3pts towards their entry because they voted.

    2) If you are competing in the round and there are only three entries then vote for your top two.

    3) If you are competing in the round and there are only two entries then make a short post to get your free points (Ex: *bump*).

    4) Non-competitors voting in a round with two entries can vote for their top two.

If Brandon submits the collab version of his remix later, I will add it to the bonus download after the final voting session ends. This offer of adding updated / extra songs is still in effect and applies to anyone who wants to take advantage of it (just PM me).

  9. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    !!! ALERT !!!

    !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm giving bracket C a deadline extension. So they are due Tuesday at midnight (When Tuesday becomes Wednesday) EST. Good luck mixers.

If you see any of the remaining contestants in Bracket C please let them know about the extension and to check here for details.

Jason C, Brandon S, Ghetto Lee Lewis, mushroomSword (and Jonathan! if he has had a change of heart).

Also, please go vote for Bracket Bravo (Only 2 so far).

  10. So, I've complied all the tracks together in a mini album for my own listening pleasure and it's actually a pretty cool compilation we've got going here. Shadow numbered all the tracks for a track order, so this may have been his intention all along (and if it is and I'm spoiling the surprise, I apologize!).

Oh nothing special. I'm marking all the tracks that are competing as Disk One. The song order is the order I received them from contestants. Disk Two contains song upgrades and bonus tracks in no particular order.
