  1. Love the arrangement overall. Agreed that the ending is a little abrupt, but it's in no way a dealbreaker. Solid work. YES
  2. I like your intro, but I felt like the transition into the meat of things was a little awkward. As Andrew has said, overall this just ends up being a little too close to the source overall, and could use a little more of your own personalization. I think it's pretty close as is, but other judges may disagree and ask for more from you. Take to note Andrew's comment on the drums as well; I think you could do a little more to make them a tad more interesting, as well as give them a little more punch. NO (resubmit)
  3. VVVVVV - Veni Vici Vidi took like an hour and 20 minutes for me. Never again. FFX the chocobo bird racing thing, also took way too long and will never do it again.
  4. I like the sense of urgency that you put into this track, it definitely reflects well the feeling of racing to the next checkpoint for those few precious seconds. I'll also say that for the most part the sound effects were used sparingly and fit the track well, so kudos on that as well. The level of repetition is holding back the track, as is the overall loudness (which to some degree is understandable for the genre, but this is just a it too overpowering for my tastes). I can also agree with OA about the breakdowns not really holding up to the rest of the track. Trimming this overall and adjusting volumes is going to be a big step, and tweaking the breakdowns as well. NO (resubmit)
  5. This one is pretty tough for me, because in a way I agree with Andrew, but at the same time it's still a good track. To me it feels like everything is behind a filter up until 2:58, and I'm expecting it to open up then, and it does...but somewhat disappointingly. As it is, that is a pretty long buildup, so I agree with Andrew that you could trim some of the fat. I like what's going on here a lot, but it just needs some adjustments. NO (resubmit)
  6. It's there, Andrew, just tenuous in spots. 3:38-3:50 is more obvious 3:50-4:06 is a play off 0:17 of source 4:08-4:34 is a play off 0:23 of source I agree that the connections aren't the most solid, but I was able to pick it up quickly enough for me to count it. Aside from that, I'll agree that the breakdown wasn't very smooth overall. Still worth a nod, just something to consider in the future. YES
  7. Vig has some solid critiques, so take what he says and use it to your advantage. Aside from that, I honestly have little to add, aside from I like what you've done here, and I'd say this is a pretty good improvement over your last accepted track. Keep improving, bro! YES
  8. Remixers: HoboKa & Flexstyle Source tune: Boss Boogie Game: Donkey Kong Country 3 Composer: David Wise (I think) Remix name: Can't Boss Us Around (Robot Anarchists from Hell Mix) Description: Apart from the rediculously long name, I think that Flexstyle did an awesome job sound-upgrading our remix; I also changed up some of the composition to make it less bland (hopefully). It's a lot more cyber-punky, mixed with industrial and a lot of other weird and cool motifs. I won't lie, this remix isn't exactly conventional in the way it was executed, but Emunator, Flexstyle and myself are praying that you higher forms of life will enjoy the remix -----------------

Mega Man 8 was one of the games I grew up on, so it holds a special place somewhere on my person. Especially that F#&$ING Wily 1.. I first played the game when I was probably 6 or 7, didn't get past that stage till I was probably 14 (which is reflected by the title...). Anyway, I wanted to try out a couple of things to expand my style: adding in chip elements, and dnb drum sequencing. Neither one really went as planned, since I couldn't find any free chiptunes downloads, except for some drum samples, and the dnb isn't really dnb; there's still my strange, wickedly syncopated (that's what drumline'll do to ya) sequencing style in there. The result of things "not really going as planned" is this mix, and I can't say I'm too upset with that. I also tried expanding the soundscape a little more than what I'm used to, and there's some stupid-beefy segments in there that I think you guys will enjoy. This also marks my first real synth solo. Again, a huge shout-out to the WIP forum for all the encouragement and suggests, the piece wouldn't even be close to what it is without them. Time to work on album stuff, it might be 6 WEEKS before you hear from me this time -pH -------------------- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vXt_nSdGe0A&feature=player_embedded - Title https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I3KiM0QiMK4&feature=player_embedded - Grenade https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nkNlNFTjhF4&feature=player_embedded - Wily 2 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XrAVfupdzJM&feature=player_embedded - Wily 1
  10. Hello, Here is a submission of mine of an arrangment I have just completed, titled "Booster's Waltz", from Super Mario RPG: ReMixer name: LemonLime Name: Christian Floisand Email: christian@christianfloisand.com userid: 44839 Game: Super Mario RPG Song arranged: Welcome to Booster Tower Composed by: Yoko Shimomura Comments: The first thing you'll notice with this track is that it's just straight up, solo piano, which I haven't heard much of on OCRemix. I was listening to some old favorite video game music tracks and this one always stuck in my head from the moment I heard it in this wonderful game. I love the humour and absurdity of the original track and began improvising on the piano and found that it lent itself very well to a waltz treatment. So here we have a nice graceful, Chopin-esque waltz to play against the bizarre character of Booster. Thanks very much for your time! Best regards, Christian Floisand -------------------

  12. Hello again, << This is "Icicle," a remix of Sonic 3's Ice Cap Zone theme. I am Techno Jon, my email isTechno.Jon96@gmail.com and I have a website at whytelytnin.co.cc. I don't know who will get this, but I would like to thank OA for giving support and suggestions. Some comments about this tune: A while back, I had sent in a remix of Ice Cap Zone. It was rejected; I did not have the best samples or mixing skills back then, so it was no surprise really. However, I decided to give it another shot. So this is what came out of it. The string intro was actually first developed in a test tune, it ended up going Ice Cap after some screwing about with it and so I decided to make a full-fledged remix out of it. This is the second mix of this particular tune, the first was rejected, and so I fixed it up and resubbed it. This probably took about a week total time, even if rather spread out. Many things were improved from the original, including the strings, piano, and overall flow of the tune. ----------------------

Contact info: ReMixer name: Devastus Real name: Jani Syrjänen User ID: 38159 Submission info: Games arranged: Wild Arms Invidual songs arranged: 'The Power Which Supports The World' Link to the original (just in case): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bsrr0Dxq1pk Comments: I just happened to buy myself a new computer due to the old one busting out at the time of the Wild Arms: ARMed and DANGerous album project, and were anxious to see whether a month of plain noodles for dinner was worth it. Thus it's no surprise I went for a really massive rock orchestration with this one, over 60 tracks overall containing multiple layers of everything and beyond. While the original is more ominous in it's style, I felt Wild Arms needed it's own epic workout routine montage - remix to the catalog, so I went and tried to provide that as a large, soundwall-mixed rock opera. 99% guarantee of feeling the need to lift some weights or run those long stairs that you've always hated all the way up while listening to this! Hope you guys like it, it was a blast to work on it at the very least.

  15. Brandon Strader www.bstrader.net 3123 Game: Mega Man 9 / Mega Man 7 Title: Excalibur Sources: Splash Woman (MM9) Spring Man (MM7) Composer: Ippo Yamda for MM9, Yuko Takehara, Toshihiko, and Makoto Tomozawa for MM7 System: NES Splash Woman: Spring Man: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3RyXHR1OJ9g Hi. So I made this remix for round 2 of the GRMRB and I really loved it, listened to it a lot. Meant to sub it but forgot about it. A few days ago I decided to clean it up a bit and adjust some levels. There's not a lot to say really, I was prepared to make at least a couple more Splash Woman mixes -- sad that I didn't get the chance to in the grmrb. Might do it on my own someday. Totally LOVE this style, it's a bit like String Chamellotron -- there's mellotrons that help give it this snazzy aged feel. Almost like something you'd hear in the 80s. Not that I'd know, I was a baby. Sorry my notes are so short this time, but Mega Man has a distinct lack of Argonians.
  16. Nothing to add here, compression's killing the song, but the arrangement itself is pretty fun. I'm getting a little bit of distortion/static at 2:43ish, might want to check that out. Hope you fix this one up! NO (resubmit)
  17. There's really not much to add to what Andrew has said so far; right now the structure is very similar to the original, which can be ok, but this becomes super repetitive, and it wears down on you after a while. Overall this needs more variation, including the soundscape as well as arrangement. NO
  18. Super fun intro, but as Vig said, once things get settled, the variations lost steam. I will also definitely agree that the breakdown feels pretty out of place. You've got a start here, see what you can do to really add to that cool intro! NO

Contact Information Your ReMixer name: liquid wind Forum ID: 30427 Submission Information Name of game(s) arranged: MapleStory Name of arrangement: Sunrise Over Mardia Name of individual song(s) arranged: Maps near Ellinia Additional information about game including composer, system: PC, composer is unknown AFAIK Link to the original soundtrack: This started as my entry to PRC156(http://compo.thasauce.net/rounds/view/PRC156) in 2009. it was a free round but going with PRC's theme of under remixed games I went with something I've never seen a remix for, a F2P sidescrolling MMO by the name of MapleStory. Although the game had serious mechanical issues(grindfest to end all grindfests), I still appreciate its sense of aesthetics to this day and love the soundtrack. After many revisions since PRC156, I uploaded what I thought would be the final version a few months ago when Stevo volunteered to record live guitar for it. As well as offering his guitar skills he also noted a few technical issues with the piece and suggested that I change one of the instruments to the sine lead that is there now. Big thanks to Stevo for being a professional badass! The remix title comes from the server mardia which was a new server when I used to play this game in 2007
  20. Hey OC team! It's me, Cr4sh again with another submission! My last sub is still in the queue, so i figured i'd throw another one up there! I made this remix for a set i was performing during a SSF4AE tournament, and it went over really well so I figured I should share it with the world...or try to anyway ReMixer name: Dj Cr4sh Your real name: Daniel Ramos Your email address: Crashproject@gmail.com Your website: www.soundcloud.com/DJ-Cr4sh Your user id: http://ocremix.org/forums/member.php?u=44273 Name of game(s) arranged: Super Street Fighter IV Name of individual song(s) arranged: Dudley's Theme Additional information about game including composer, system, etc. (if it has not yet been added to the site): Hideyuki Fukasawa Link to the original soundtrack (if it is not one of the sound archives already available on the site): Your own comments about the mix, for example the inspiration behind it, how it was made, etc. : This song has always matched Dudley's character very well; and it always felt like you were stepping into a swinging club in some neon city. Being from NYC, I wanted to try and bring some of the city's dirty house style to this theme. I added some nu disco feel and a dirty house lead and I really felt I was in the meat packing district after one of his fights! Hope you feel that way too..if you've ever been to the MPD that is!

The idea was to create something that wouldn't be entirely out of place on The Wall—something highly 70's in a slow, moody rock sort of way. It's a little minimalist as a result, especially as I didn't want to cram it full of drums everywhere. It's mainly about the piano and the synth. And in 5/4 time! The organ uses samples from a Roland MT-32 synth run through a few guitar pedals, such as a Boss CS-2 and a CE-5. The drums are from a demo version of Kontakt's Abbey Road 70's Drums. Authentic! I really wish I had worked in a guitar solo, though... And of course, what is a StarFox song without cheesy samples from the game?
