  1. Overall, you've got a nice track, and I like the overall dreamy quality of the piece, but there are some really strange harmony choices in here for the background pads. I'm not sure if it's the chords bleeding into one another, or if the choices just aren't working out, but I think that it needs to be cleaned up overall. 2:17 stands out in particular. I like the overall vanilla texture's you've got going on. Everything is reverb heavy, which I think works pretty well in this context, although I think it could have been pulled back a little on the lead guitar. I'd like to see this again after you've looked some things over. NO (resubmit)
  2. Really fun and enjoyable take on the source material. Arrangement is solid, and you've got a lot of elements that are really working well together here. Instrument choice is pretty solid, although my nitpick would be that the held strings have a slow attack at times. Balance is also solid, with nothing overcrowding, although the same strings mentioned before could come down just a little at times. Percussion overall is a lot of fun. YES
  3. Now that I've compared a good breakdown that showed me a couple parts I didn't quite pick up on, I am comfortable changing my vote on this. Glad to do so, actually, since this track is pretty slick, and everyone makes mistakes. YES
  4. Pretty much in agreement with Andrew. The arrangement is pretty good overall, although a bit conservative at times, but there's plenty of arrangement and interpretation going on. The drums a programmed really well, and really fit the arrangement. I'm not as crazy about the synth choice, mostly due to the slow attack and the bit of overall mud (seems intentional) of that section. I like the overall breakdown, however. More than willing to give this a YES
  5. Despite being a low (by Larry's standards) on source usage, I am really liking the arrangement to this a lot. The Debussy influence is very obvious, and it's great to hear the sources taken in this style. Playing is very fluid as well. Oh look, it's not teh technoez! YES
  6. The first thing I'm noticing right off is that it appears you've panned the bass and synth to the left channel, and the guitar and drums to the left. Some subtle panning is alright, but this is nearly exclusive, and it just feels very strange in headphones. It's hard to comment on the balance or production because of the set up. The lyrics are a little difficult to make out, but you've got a good style for your voice, and intonation is good. Overall the arrangement feels a little sparse and repetitious, especially the opening, which could be pretty much cut in half. Overall I think you could add some more counter melodies or parts to give this a little more flavor. I think you've got a pretty cool idea here, but it needs some adjusting. NO (resubmit)
  7. Considering how short the source is, I think you both managed to expand on it well, and using the other sources was a good choice to give the track a little more meat. I like what you've got going on for the arrangement. Right away I'm noticing some crackling in the organ. I'm not sure if it's intentional, but since I don't hear it anywhere else in the arrangement, it feels out of place. As Andrew mentions, the lead guitar is coming in a little loud at the beginning, though it fits much better once things start to rock out. I can also hear the rhythm guitars being a little out of time as he mentioned around 1:22. Overall the organ feels a little mechanical overall, and it's being enhanced when it is compared to the guitar playing. I'm a bit torn on this, because I think it could pass as is, but I could also see this getting fixed up. I will say YES for now, but based on the other judges' opinions on the production I might consider revising. YES (borderline)
  8. I am loving the style and the overall arrangement you have here. The melodies aren't greatly changed, but there is a lot of personalization, and lot of energy added to this. The playing is natural and the solos fit nicely into the overall song. The latin vibe adds a sense of urgency to this that is really cool to listen to. The piano itself sounds great as well, and the recording is well balanced. YES
  9. Definitely a cute arrangement, and nice to see a source that isn't often represented. Lots of personalized parts, and overall fun to listen to. My only nitpick is that the stuff played in octaves felt a little strange, but it's not a bad choice. As Andrew said, there's some production aspects that need a little fixing. The bass is crowding things a little, and needs to be brought back just a tad. I also agree that the guitar could use a little delay. Aside from the drums, overall things feel just a little dry overall. I think this is super close, and doing these fixes will push it over the bar. NO (resubmit)
  10. I liked the original version of this, and this version still holds a lot of Daft Punk charm. I'm noticing that there's more variety overall; drums, sections changing around, etc. I like the ominous use of brass throughout, and there's a lot of panning being used pretty effectively as well. I'm noticing a little bit of more dynamic work, although there still could have been a bit more of that. I was sold on the first, and I'm liking this one too. YES
  11. Yay, 'Morning, Thinker'! Also, I've been watching all the episodes, and I enjoy every one of them. Nice work!
  12. I like this mix, and I really like how you treated the source here. I think the arrangement works very well, slowing it down adds a bit more emotion to it. As you said, it gives the impression that Zero is going to carry on and do what he can do, no matter the odds. The only thing I'm not too sure about is the guitar and piano pseudo-doubling at times. I'd consider revising that, either going for a counter melody, or simple harmony in the piano instead. The production has a few issues that I think need to be addressed. The opening is a bit reverb heavy, and things are pretty muddy. Overall the reverb could be turned down a bit. The bass synth is loud overall, and it's overcrowding everything, but especially the piano lead, which could come up just a tad. The string attack is pretty slow when it comes in as well. I'd say this is a good candidate for a resub, I hope you fix this up. NO (please resubmit)
  13. Hi and happy New Year to all of you from France! All the best for 2011! Here's the collab-arrangement of 'Dead Music' from FF1, made for Brandon Strader's FF1 album project. He's shooting for OCR release, so it may be considered as a project track in the future if the project is accepted. LINK - FF1 'Requiem for a Dying World' : Contact Information Your ReMixer name: Chernabogue, Brandon Strader Your real name: Alexandre Mourey, Brandon Strader Your email address: chernabogue@gmail.com ; Your websit: Not yet for me, www.bestrader.net for Brandon Your userid: Chernabogue = 20943 ; Brandon Strader = 3123 Submission Information Name of game(s) arranged: Final Fantasy I Name of individual song(s) arranged: 'Dead Music' Additional information about game including composer, system, etc.: Nobuo Uematsu/NES Link to the original soundtrack: Your own comments about the mix, for example the inspiration behind it, how it was made, etc: Brandon started the FFIX project, but it was then directed by Fishy (that's what I read). He decided to make a heavy metal album to cover FF1 and I joined it, though I was not as good as other metalheads involved in the project. I first wanted to do 'Victory Fanfare', but it was already claimed by NintenJoe, so I decided to do 'Dead Music'. The source is simple but very effective. An organ/guitar duet was pretty obvious to do. I did all the arrangement and Brandon recorded the guitars and bass for the track. He opted for mellotrons instead of organ and the result is incredible! The final recordings and production were done on New Year (and M. Strader want to add that he was drunk). From Brandon: "I finished it on New Years, and I was drunk. It was an honor to work with Chernabogue on this song, because the arrangement is incredible. Thanks for letting me slap all those mellotrons on there!" I hope everything's okay! If not, don't hesitate to tell/ask me! Cheers! -Alex ------------------

Remixer: WillRock Name Of Remix: Countdown To Infinity Games Remixed: Megaman X5, X6 Sources Remixed: Infinity Mijinion, Spiral Pegacion Comments: Before you listen to this mix, listen to the intro of Infinity Mijinion. Now, you guys... do you REALLY need more convincing to listen to this remix? Ok, so listening to OneUps source for the GMRB, I realised that (the strangely named) Spiral Pegacion's source sucked really. And (the even more strangely named) Infinity Mijinion - I now know how to spell Mijinion, go me - was epic beyond all kinds of epic. Imo that is. What is a Mijinion anyway. You have billions, Trillions, and Mijinions maybe? why wasn't it Mijillions? Mijinion might have been a typo of Ignition. Infinity Ignition? Or more likely, the guy who was making the names for the X6 bosses spazzed out over the keyboard when he couldn't think of a good word to go with infinity and liked what came out. It also sounds like the final countdown. You all agree. It sounds so much like the final countdown that Joey Tempest faced off against Infinity Mijinion for stealing his music. Infinity Mijinion won however, even though Joey Tempest had the guard shell. So.... May the Countdown to Infinity commence! 1... 2... 3... 4... 16. Hey, again. Very, *very* sorry for the delay. School definitely caught up with me, and then my computer died, so I haven't had time to do the revisions I wanted to after I saw this email until just recently. And, in case it was lost from before, here's the text from my initial submission email. ReMixer: SiriusBeatz Real Name: Ike Elele email: ike.elele@gmail.com userid = 33208 Submission Info Title: 'Full Synchro' Game Arranged: Mega Man Battle Network 4 Red Sun (system: GBA) Songs Arranged: Title Screen music (link:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8pdru8F4HU4) and Battle Pressure (link: )Composer: Toshihiko Horiyama Additional Comments: I've been a pretty big fan of the Mega Man series for a while ever since I first picked up Mega Man X back in 1996 or so. I was never particularly good at the main series games, but I had much better luck with the Battle Network series. I was a little disappointed to see that there had been no ReMixes of any of the games' music up until now. Battle Network wasn't nearly as memorable as the classic Mega Man games, but I certainly had a lot of fun with them; that was in no small part due to the really catchy music. Here, I've taken the boss battle theme from Battle Network 4, which despite having one of my favorite tracks from the series, was probably one of my least favorite to play because of the rather contrived storyline. The title music also quotes the second theme from the boss battle music, so I decided to incorporate that briefly as well. I'm still very new to Reason and music production in general, so there are probably things that still need cleaning up, but for being mixed through cheap headphones on a crummy laptop, I'm pretty satisfied with how it turned out. It's been a while since I last submitted a ReMix, but here it is! It's a nice li'l uplifting track that re-imagines a couple themes from one of my favorite childhood games, Mario Golf. It features a warm saw lead, progressive house plucks, cool counter melodies, riding triangle arps, and deep plucky bass, and a crunchy house beat. The first part of the track focuses on Grace's Theme with a brief cameo from 'challenge', then 'dormie' takes over at about 3:02. I thought this would be a nice touch since this is the actual progression of events in the game (dormie in match play is when a player leads by the same amount as there are holes left), and the fact that it didn't require a key change only helped the decision. Either way, I hope you guys enjoy it and see how much I've grown as a producer since 'Breakout'! Thanks, ---------------- - Grace Theme - Challenge - Dormie

It has destroyed its fair share of dancefloors throughout North America and Europe in 2009 and 2010. Somebody suggested I submit it to your site. This is a full-length DJ-friendly track with intros and outros. The timing, production, pacing, and dynamics are consistent with that of modern progressive house music. If you enjoy the music but would prefer the build-ups in the track to proceed at a more mainstream-friendly pace, I could do a "radio edit". Cheers, your site is great. ~ Elyot ---------------
  20. Game: Mega Man 4 Tracks arranged: Pharaoh Man's Stage Remix Title: Pharaoh's Last Dance This was one of my tracks that was going to be on the Mega Man 4 remix project that got stuck in limbo. This one's mostly middle eastern intruments mixed with some disco elements (specifically disco style strings). I released it on my site a while back, though this particular version has been slightly remastered. I believe it sounds a little more open than the original. link: -----------------------------

Flexstyle: When Draconiator first handed his mix to Wes, who then handed it to me, I knew there was a lot of work to be done on it--but it definitely had promise. I asked if Drac would be okay with a collab, just to throw a couple coats of polish on his track and possibly get him in as an actual mixer, instead of just a bonus mixer. He agreed, and we got to work. To be honest, most of the arrangement is his work. I did some editing, such as adding the reversed piano bits and chopping up the arrangement to make it more listener-friendly, and I did some serious tweaking of synth patches and tempo and whatnot, but a lot more of this is Draconiator than me, musically. Where he fell short in mixing and general "remix sense," if that makes sense, I was able to step up. The result is this deep trance track, which both of us are very happy with. Draconiator: Before I even sent this to Wes, it was an original (which I lost the FLP file for). I sent said original to Wes, and he suggested that I redo it into a remix for the album, which seemed like a good idea to me, so that is what I did. However, the first finished version of it, according to Wes, was still bonus mix quality, so sometime later he proposed that I work with Mike to get it up to album quality. I couldn't be happier with my decision. ----------------- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xS_Z6zO5xqM

To me, this song (the original) is so beautiful because it sounds both happy and sad at the same time and it's great for chilling out in those extremely crappy days/weeks/months/years when I just need to drift away ("hence the title"). I usually hate the cliche Indie sound of tinkery bells and wannabe Beatles flutes/whirlitzers/Rhodes, but I really wanted to make this emulate the happy and sad emotion that I interpreted from the original. The original is already an extremely simple song (meaning that anything too complex ruins the song) so I did something very different from my usual adaptations by not adding unnecessary embellishments. Oh yeah, and the whistles are a bit out of tune because they're not a keyboard; I was really whistling, but I've never been too good at whistling. I hope you enjoy this chill song! -----danius---- ----------------
  23. So there is tons of pretty awesome playing here, but I'm only hearing the source from 0:00-0:57 and then from 3:22-End (and the second half has some more arrangement that could be sourced out even shorter). On high end, that's giving us 1:34 of source out of a 3:59 track. To add to that, the source and the soloing are pretty mutually exclusive, and a lot of the source feels pretty coverish. Still an awesome track, and a good project track, but there isn't enough for it to pass here. NO
  24. Plenty of good things going on here. As mentioned, this purposefully avoids the overly-cheerful mood of the source which is heard often enough in other tracks of the game, so it's nice to hear something different from NiGHTS. The source motif is heard throughout, but the new soundscape gives it a whole new feel, although it does get a bit repetitive again and again to hear the same six source notes again and again. Production is pretty solid, with the balance being clear. Some sections sound just a tad mechanical, but it's not that bad. Drumwork is nice, although it feels just a little far front in the soundscape, but it really adds to the texture. Some good work here, YES
