Reserve Tank: VARIAtions (Need Mirror Infos)
Vivi22 replied to DarkeSword's topic in General Discussion
Beat me to the joke. With more work maybe mine could be OCR quality, but I doubt it's there yet. -
Might as well update on time for a change since I have nothing better to do just before I go to bed. Being away from home these past few days has certainly helped. I'm a picky eater so most of the food I'll eat in the meal hall is healthy stuff except for pizza (which I'm not indulging in much). I've also run every day except one since coming here for courses and I'm back to lifting weights every other day. I've started running with one of the guys I came down with which is helping us both push eachother and stick with it. Overall, these next few weeks may be what get me back on the workout track.

OCR TF2: New Server forthcoming - new server IPs and other stuff
Vivi22 replied to Bahamut's topic in General Discussion
Fixed. I still love TFC myself. Though TF2 is technically a better designed game the original is still incredibly fun. The only exception to the fun being if you play Pyro in the original. It was always fun using weak-ass weapons and setting yourself on fire. -
If you had said the 89 Batman kickstarted the idea of a dark Batman movie I might have agreed with you. It was so steeped in over the top campiness I can't believe that anyone can take it or it's interpretation of the characters seriously. Particularly the fact that it had Batman kill more than once.

The age you start doesn't determine how well you play an instrument. How you practice and your determination to learn new things does. Granted, even with poor practice habits, if you play often enough for a long enough period you'll end up learning to play some things pretty well, but if you want to excel, it take more than that. Anyway, it's certainly never too late. I didn't start playing the drums until my first year of high school when I was 14. I didn't pick up piano until about two and a half years ago when I was 21 or so, and I'm just now starting to learn guitar at the ripe old age of (almost) 23. So again, it's never too late.

I missed my update this week, so I may as well update now. The last couple of weeks have seen little working out since I was preparing to both move out at the end of August and go away for a couple of courses (where I am now). The good news is I'm currently left with little more to do than go to class, study, and work out. I have a track to run on literally right behind the residence building I'm in and free access to a gym one building over, so I expect to get back to the weights and the cardio pretty hardcore for the next month.

I look forward to having to get my rank back up when I get back in a month. A month of not playing is going to suck. -

Whoops, sorry I forgot to tag mine. I guess after exporting about 50 versions over the course of working on it it just didn't occur to me in the end. -
I used to be one of those people who said they'd be fine with Heath in the role as long as they dubbed Mark Hamill in for the dialogue (back when it was first announced Heath would be playing the Joker). After seeing the trailers and now, finally, the movie, I've come to the conclusion that myself and everyone else who said something to that effect were being stupid. I may love Mark Hamill's portrayal of the character, but I think Heath topped him easily.

Well, I wasn't able to make the item found theme work the way I had hoped. Might have been able to last night, but I forgot what the hell I had planned today. Oh well, I redid the end of it and I like it more now. Parts of it aren't perfect, but I won't have any more time to work on this before the deadline, so I'm considering it pretty much finished for the purposes of the album, barring any last minute production suggestions anyone may have. I highly doubt I'll be able to change much arrangement wise in time. -
[Help] Cant seem to get a good mix going.

Everyone has different tastes and work flow preferences. Personally, I find Sonar to be far easier to use than FL Studio (based on the demo of FL anyway), but then, Sonar just works in a way that makes sense for me and how I like my work flow to go. -
The inconceivably exciting contest I entered

I have to agree with that. I loved the actual music but the singing wasn't enjoyable, and even got downright painful towards the end. -

That suggestion actually has a few ideas floating through my brain right now so thank you very much. I think the item fanfare may be the best choice to go with it now that you mention it. It certainly seems to have my creative juices flowing. If only I had time to work on it tonight. Hopefully the inspiration is as strong tomorrow. -

Posting a WIP. I kind of wrote myself into a corner at some point today and got to the ending a lot sooner than I thought I would. I'd like to make it longer so we'll see if I can manage anything tomorrow since the inspiration just isn't coming today. Any ideas on how to continue it would be helpful, and any suggestions on the production side of things would be great. I know it could use some tweaking on that side of things so tips are appreciated since I'm still fairly inexperienced with that stuff. -

Recording of what? Instruments or vocals. If it's instruments then the Shure SM-57 is a good all around mic though more info would be good. If it's vocals, then someone else should help you since I don't sing. Anyway, my mix is sitting about half done. I had about an hour to work on it today so since I'm usually a very slow, methodical composer that's actually really good for me. I also managed to get a lot of the production issues sorted so it actually sounds pretty good when I cram it into an MP3. -
I was trying to figure out how I could describe how my brain organizes music, but I think you managed to do it for me. Just about everything I've ever learned or written I've done in pieces like that.

The Red Ring of Death may actually be a half a percentile out of all consoles as you say, but the 360 does have an overall failure rate of 1/3 of 360 consoles. Not sure if that number includes only red ring of death or all failures, but the problems that console has had shouldn't be downplayed, especially when the other two actually have failure rates below 1%. Granted, Microsoft did the right thing in the end.

Have about 31 seconds of a song together. Happy with it so far and should be able to make more progress tomorrow now that I have some direction figured out. The production end is killing me though. I'm realizing I don't have nearly enough experience with it, but no better way to learn than under a deadline. -
Went running a few times last week. I was busy towards the end of the week, so I wasn't able to get much done then, but I have managed to lose at least 3 pounds so I'd say I'm back on track. I'm also back on track with the diet as I've been keeping to a reasonable amount of calories, and only eating healthy food.

OCR TF2 Team: Gametime 9 PM EST on OCR server MWF + some weekends

Meh, I love Dustbowl to death, but I still love Hydro. In fact, it's been a long time since I played Hydro. I'll second the suggestion for Hydro and Goldrush. -
Nope. It could only track where you were pointing with speed and accuracy. But if you didn't have it pointed at the screen it had no idea where you're arm was, and couldn't track 3D movement with any accuracy. This thing is basically what Nintendo should have done for the Wiimote in the first place. That said, I really doubt it's going to provide much more in the way of innovation. Developers have enough trouble figuring out how to use a pointer and tilt sensors in new and interesting ways.

Guess it's been a very long time since I played the game because I didn't notice. I'd still be curious to hear the original you did. Anyway, work has begun on a piano mix of the Theme of Super Metroid since the only plugin of mine that works for me right now is Ivories (haven't had time to get the others setup). We'll see if I get anything respectable done in time. -

My writing process is incredibly slow, but if I come up with something I'll send it along. I've always liked Blind's stuff. I'm not dead, but I am seeing random patterns of flashing colour. Meh, it's not as bad as you seem to think it is, though it would fit better as an old 8 or 16-bit level theme than on a get well album I think. -
The Rock Band Guitar may have sucked (my friends started to die after a couple of months. Never had that happen with the GH1 or 2 controllers), but so did the GH3 controller compared to the ones for GH 1&2 (especially compared to the 360's GH2 controller). I also don't expect the GH4 drums to be any better than the Rock Band drums without being noticeably more expensive.

As someone who hated the feel of the drum pedal on the original kit I'm not exactly glad to see they didn't change a thing except make it harder to break. The song list in the original was lacking, and though this one mostly looks better (Everlong being one of my favourite songs ever), I will absolutely not buy a Harmonix game again until they fix the lag calibration. I tried every different method they put in the first Rock Band and it only came close once. Unfortunately though, the drum parts are less forgiving with the timing than the others, which led to a lot of missed notes, especially on higher difficulties. As if the constant mistriggers from the pads weren't bad enough. My friends and I got to the point where we now officially hate the game and refuse to play it, even on CRT TV's. I still don't understand how they fucked up the lag calibration either; it was damn near perfect in GH2, but it wasn't even close in Rock Band. I'm also not seeing any features that really warrant doing a sequel yet. Maybe they have something up their sleeves, but it honestly seems like most of the new stuff could have been done in a patch of the first game.
