  1. Got some issues with attack and decay on the strings. And that dissonance is still present man. You really really need to train your ear for key T_T BUT this still has big potential Don't submit V5 until you have the off keyness fixed. Private message me V5, cuz as is, people probably don't won't comment on it.
  2. And never pay attention to Snappleman, cuz he couldn't properly critique to save his life
  3. Except skip the Jager bombs...don't want any heart attacks here
  4. Obviously there's no point in trying to argue with a pretentious jerk, so I'm going to leave it at that.
  5. Yeah, well you can go die in a fire for all I care. Music's all subjective anyways.
  6. Meh it's snappleman, I don't take him seriously any more. And Gario, we were talking about patterns, not tracks. Patterns are used for making small areas to "easily" make changes in your song...but I find them to be a hassle myself. BTW, thanks for the support and critiques ^^
  7. Still got the dissonance here on ver3. Like I said getting that ear takes practise. Okay you know what, extract the midi of your track and I'll see if I can get it to sound like it's on key, that way you can compare it between what you have my fixing. However, you have a good sense of how instruments go together and your harmony and progression is purty good - like the flow makes sense, it's just the notes are jarring due to their off keyness lol.
  8. Okay Rozo...soon as my writing block fades I'll work on another track...which one do you think would suit me best?:
  9. http://soundfonts.darkesword.com/ there's some fairly decent soundfonts in here.
  10. Yeah, I write with one pattern. Thanks for the critique...except you shoulda waited for me to start on another track, cuz like i said, this one's burnt out haha. BUT I shall consider your critiques for my next works. As for the one pattern thing, I'm used to it because that's how midis are written, though I don't have any clue how to use patterns, not sure if I intend to try either.

  12. holy fucknuts and cheese, you guys type a lot My eyes are burning
  13. NP, feel free to PM me if you have any questions (so long as it's not about ACTUAL theory =p) In either case this wip has big potential, can't wait to hear your improvements <----metroid fan.
  14. Yeah man, midis are your friend - I was raised on midis good luck on your future endeavors
  15. harsh, meaning it's a bad sample. That's the bad thing about using soundfonts...most of them blow...trust me I still rely on those pieces of crap-cola. If you want, Google up Squidfont Orchestral: that will provide you some decent orchestral samples...well decent in terms of Soundfonts anyways. As for offkey, I shall show you the difference between on and off... http://www.fileupyours.com/view/218181/key%20example%202.mp3 http://www.fileupyours.com/view/218181/key_example%201.mp3 Tell me which one sounds more pleasant. Now, the one that isn't pleasant is what your track sounds like - I'm sorry, but there's no way to sugar coat it - because the judges will be 500 times worse than me...they have little patience for new composers unfortunately. And yes, definitely work on the EQ - but before that, ensure that your notes are all correct. I've been there man, so I know how this all feels. Took me nearly two years to get where I am and I STILL haven't gotten posted yet. The bar here is hiiiigh. Especially since SOME of the high-ups here are pretentious...at best.
  16. oooof that violin sample is harsh man. Gotta find a better sample for that. And the notes are off key...gah. The beat's not bad I suppose, but you really need to develope that ear for key. sorry there mate Hmmm but main part of the mix where it builds up to the epic kinda feel is good. Major clipping and huge volume editing needed, got some good atmosphere. Haha wait a second...this sounds like how I started off >_> well, I must say if this is how you normally compose then you need to practise a lot...just like me - you've got some huge potential methinks.
  17. I'm an odd composer myself Slygen...I actually don't hear the notes beforehand, I just experiment till I find a rhythm or melody that I like, then I go with it. Either that or I start off with chords and improvise from there...I guess everyone composes a bit differently eh. In regards to Hewo's work here, I must say that Hewo is similar to me lol
  18. it's there...just well hidden - you need to hear it a lot of times >_< I'd never want to compose like that myself though, because I'd like my listeners to hear the source nice and clearly. But this mix IS impressive regardless of any of our gripes
  19. ooo this one looks like fun, I can do this as a standalone mix. I'm not with the project unfortunately...took too long to apply /emo tears. Check out the wip forums and you'll prob see it there soonish
  20. I didn't feel like messing around with the .zip file, so I won't bother with any source comments. However, the production is pretty decent, the flow is decent and the ballad-like rhythm is an incredibly nice touch. I'm no pro at critiquing piano solos, so I'll wait for some one better to do so. Over all though, I didn't feel confused or get annoyed by anything, so that's a plus.
  21. hmmm this is pretty much your generic techno remix not much to say, cept for it's not horrible. I do like the extra percussion sounds in the background, they are a nice touch. The break down is alright too. Just don't blame me if the J's take a dump on it.
  22. Daag bro, I wish Nutritious would critique my stuff T_T, anyways I agree with all of his points, especially the last. To become a great composer/sequencer you need to play with all forms of different projects, from classical to DnB (or hybrid) to whatever the hell you want - just make sure you practise practise practise. That's how I improved. Certain people on these forums used to tell me that I couldn't compose, yet here I am, making half decent stuff , I still have a long ways to go though. And so do you, but don't let that put you down - and especially don't let any one's comments make you shy away from your dreams. So my advice, start some new projects and try to get that ear for key, among other things like cogency (which I still feel weak at) and transitions. Good luck mah boi
