MAGFest 12 - Post-MAGFest Depression hits again
Bahamut replied to Arrow's topic in General Discussion
The group pre-reg badges have been purchased! You just need to show up and pick up the badge as if you registered it yourself! -
Hey, question - do you have any websites you can link us to see what you've done?

MAGFest 12 - Post-MAGFest Depression hits again

Just 2 days left to get in on the badge group buy! -
Yeah, I'm highly skeptical the PS4 or XB One's libraries will match the Wii U's current offerings in a year's time...now those lineups look pretty lame (and I'm the sucker buying both).

How did you first hear of/get involved with OCR?
Bahamut replied to Diodes's topic in General Discussion
I found OCR back in 2001 through AudioGalaxy - I found a bunch of tracks from OCR and thought they were ok, but I was crazied about VGM, and I kept seeing this magical source of music with the URL in the ID3v2 tags, so I eventually took the plunge and haven't looked back. Amusing bit of trivia: I wasn't really super impressed by Terra in Black, and I still kinda stand by that. It's not bad, but it's actually not really anywhere how I'd imagine the definitive version of Terra would be *puts up flame shield*. -

Most of you who are in on the MAGFest pre-reg have sent me the $ for the badges already - great on ya! Anyone else looking to get a badge for only $30 should hurry, there is only about a week left before I purchase the badges for the group and the deal closes out! -
MAGFest 12 - Post-MAGFest Depression hits again

Just bumping this up to remind you guys that you have about 2 weeks if you want to get in on the group badge buy! Also there's an enormous amount of room in the suite if people want to sleep there! -
I had to fight the controls in Skyward Sword, so I don't like it as much - it also felt like a smaller game. I loved Twilight Princess, with my main complaints being that its vastness in scope exposed areas that weren't as well developed and that the overworld could have been larger. I have been playing an assortment of Wii U games I snagged, although I've remained focused mainly on Wind Waker and New Super Mario Bros. U out of a need to limit how many games I'm playing at once. I did also play some Game & Wario last night - I don't feel it is as good as the other Wario Ware games in my short time with it so far.

I'll be organizing it soon - I just need to clear out my PM inbox Edit: Ok, so I just cleared out a ton of old PMs - I am now ready to start taking reservations & badge $ for the MAGFest group buy! Send me a PM, and Paypal wesley.cho@gmail.com $31.50 (to cover most of the BS paypal fee) whenever you can - I will be doing the pre-reg around the end of the month, which is the deadline for getting the prereg in. For anyone interested, send me PMs expressing interest in staying in the OCR suite! The rate will be $50/night for any interested in staying, so it's guaranteed to be cheap! -
Finally got to start playing my Wii tonight (for a bit) - really like the gamepad, it's a nifty idea from Nintendo. My only real complaint so far is that getting all the controller accessories can be pricey.

My Wii U came in today - now I'm just waiting for my TV to come in to start playing it .

MAGFest 12 - Post-MAGFest Depression hits again

It was at the time of the post - MAGFest subsequently got a limited expansion of rooms available at the rate...there was a lot of panicking from what I gathered due to the sellout though. -
Steam Triple Announcment (OS/Machine/Controller)
Bahamut replied to Crowbar Man's topic in General Discussion
I am excited by the announcement - I would love the opportunity to kill Windows from my main desktop, which I would love to use as a dev machine running Ubuntu (I've had issues getting a VM to work due to graphics issues, unsurprisingly). I reserve judgment on the controller, but I'm excited to see a company making a serious effort in changing the gaming PC landscape. -

MAGFest 12 - Post-MAGFest Depression hits again
Bahamut replied to Arrow's topic in General Discussion
Yesss! I now have a reservation on a suite and a room. -
It'd also require a complete takedown of the current torrent and releasing a new version - as far as I can recall, this was a large incentive for the content policy, because there have been other artists dissatisfied with music that they've created being present, and it occupies a bunch of time when there are multiple requests for these things. It's a huge negative, and from what I understand of OCR's perspective, it has to be much more of a convincing reason than artist dissatisfaction that causes a removal, since that dissatisfaction could disappear one day and then an artist could try requesting it be re-added.

MAGFest 12 - Post-MAGFest Depression hits again
Bahamut replied to Arrow's topic in General Discussion
Ok, so I did a bit of investigation, and apparently there are discounted rooms for Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday, but not Thursday for some stupid reason ($150/night not including tax/fees - resort fee = ~$50 per reservation). Just things to keep in mind. I'm also willing to organize a group badge buy, so get in contact with me if you're interested. I'll be mobilizing on getting that done in October so that it remains $30 per person. -

So for those who were waiting to book your hotel room...the MAGFest rate rooms are all currently booked. Rooms are now available for $280/night I'd like to remind people that you're more than welcome to stay in the suite for $50 a night, but I can't guarantee that you'll get good sleep! -
Hm? It's available here: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Wii+U+Deluxe+-+The+Legend+of+Zelda%3A+The+Wind+Waker+Bundle/1654001.p?id=1219058301134&skuId=1654001&st=zelda%20wii%20u&cp=1&lp=1

They did not charge me for my room when I reserved it. I'm up for doing another group buy - got 1-2 others interested so far. -

OCR TF2 Server - Anyone interested in trying out TF2 should join us!
Bahamut replied to Bahamut's topic in General Discussion
To give an example of the map votes that popped up recently, here was one such situation: pl_retawdab cp_egypt_final arena_offblast_final cp_sdnaldab Here was another (I believe this happened more than once as well): pl_retawdab pl_badwater_rainy pl_badwater [insert map I forgot] These are becoming less isolated occurrences, and are the type of map votes that lead to unsavory results, especially on those who continue to play for the evening. Most people don't seem to care about that aspect, but as the primary server admin, I do care because I don't want a server environment where a particular clique forms and excludes those who dislike the opinion of the server norm by map vote, unwarranted marginalization, etc. I refrain from nominating maps too much myself due to not wanting to be overbearing in deciding what maps get played next, even if I don't like the choices I have to make some times. However, it's clear that a pure vote for the next map with nominations is broken when this is becoming an increasing regularity and the negative reactions to those types of votes are quite noticeable. This is far worse from a server management standpoint than a fixed/frequently updated mapcycle IMO, but I want to hear more opinions before forcing that change. -

Bahamut replied to Bahamut's topic in General Discussion
As I mentioned, I've always been a proponent of a well-updated mapcycle over the server voting for the next map from a server administrator perspective - a healthy balance of maps can encourage people to stay around more, and prevent the consensus forcing the next map, even if some people dislike it, which can be a huge problem & even kill the server for the night. I would be willing to keep the server maintained as such with input from the community, should we agree to do so. Also, I won't be on TF2 for the next 2 1/2 weeks or so due to drill this upcoming weekend and my vacation. -
