Where on said website is Reason 4? EDIT: NM, I found it. Pretty cool... looks to be out before the end of the year. Quite nice, quite nice.

Computer Science major, Creative Writing minor. Yep, always manages to raise a few eyebrows. Does anyone else see the problem in that statement?
-
Not that so much as some (most) of us don't have both the time and skill to take the offer.

I too said that somewhere in the other thread. And when do we arrive at official decisions such as where we're going after the concert and how long we're staying there? -

12:00? So early? In order to be there then I'd have to be on a train or bus at 7 am. Yeugh. -
Just bought myself an Ashbory...

Tell me, though, what exactly sounds different than a typical bass. As I mentioned before, I couldn't here anything. -
I probably don't have enough skillz in order to submit anything for such a competition, but I could try (and fail miserably) anyways. "Power Tools for Reason 3," you say?

With regards to where we go afterwards, I vote DJP's. We'll have eaten already and there's no reason to go to Dave & Buster's to spend more money. Plus, at DJP's that's a perfect time to ask him (and others) all the remix questions I've got. Would one of the OCR peoples not staying the night at his place be available to give me a ride? -

Maybe I'm missing something here: We meet up We go sightseeing We go to concert We sleep We meet at park meetup officially over When do we do games? Don't get me wrong, I'd love to. I'm just not quite understanding the schedule, apparently. -
Ah geez forgot about this thread. I hope to have some OCRemixers look at it in person during the DC meetup. But for now... Right now I'm just starting with Reason. It's compact, it's self-contained, and there's a huge support community. So I'm working with that. I installed the ReWuschel app and loaded up a rewire. I made sure it accepted the MIDI input (though it couldn't find my particular controller) and tried to play... I got the same latency as before. I wasn't running any other programs and my processor is 3.4 GHz.

It's just a matter of the title. As I mentioned before, "must have" seems a bit extreme to me. Perhaps I'm a minority of one here, but I feel something a little less... imperative might more accurately describe the list you're compiling.
-
Fuck yeah you do. Based on my questions from a few pages back (on pg 29 I believe), can we change the title from "must-have" to something that's not so much hyperbole? Something like "OCR's Games to Play Before You Die." That way you don't have to have them, and you don't have to beat them.

One of these DC threads ought to be eliminated, because I'm getting confused as hell. So it sounds like we're on for meeting up in the early afternoon on Friday. We must decide where. Personally, I'd be up for meeting in the train station, since it sounds like a good number of us will be coming in that way anyways. If we wear our OCR tshirts spotting one another shouldn't be difficult. Updated FAQ says we'll be going out to eat AFTER the concert. I don't mind that, but I have to worry about transportation to my friend's house (bout 10-20 minutes outside DC itself). He may not mind coming to get me at 12, 1 in the morning, but in case he does, could someone give me a lift to his place? P.S. 360WiiPS3 where when plz? -

A few questions, as usual: Does this mean we've finalized the schedule, in terms of what's happening when? That'd be very good news for me. Who is BT? Should we plan on wearing our OCR shirts and appear to be a standoffish cult gathering? -
I was reading the Circuits section of the New York Times this evening and came across this. Did anyone else read this, and does anyone have familiarity with some of the options the article presents? I was particularly interested in the X-Fi, and I'm sure a few of you have Creative cards in your machine. My personal computer is in the shop, so I haven't been able to try out fxsound yet (and I don't know if it works with the particular media player I use), but I was happy to discover a couple of sites which sell only the highest-fidelity Super and DVD Audio. Not worth it for me to buy, of course, but I'm glad it's out there. Thoughts?
-
Fair enough. But then should we really call them Must Have? I know everyone hates a literalist, but I am always looking for new games to consider, and when I saw Must Have it brought certain connotations to my head. Maybe they should just be called OCR-sponsored game list or something like that.

Radical Dreamers: Thieves of Fate - History
The Pezman replied to Geoffrey Taucer's topic in Projects
Whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa. No need to get all up in my grill over this. It was merely a SUGGESTION. There is obviously no way for me to know how each track is being made, and I never meant to imply otherwise. Nor did I mean to imply that any sort of MIDI ripping (as in, note-for-note copying) should take place. All I meant was that, because of the striking similarity in the music of these two games, it would be less difficult to move on to an album of Cross than, say, an album of Kingdom Hearts (though I would love that, but that's neither here nor there). It just makes sense that people working on RD music would want to work on Cross music... -
This may have been defined before... But when we say must-have, how literally should we take that? Do we mean that it's a good game that's probably worth your time to play? Or that it's a game that you MUST HAVE... in other words, you can't really call yourself a gamer unless you've played this game. By the second defintion, there are several must have games I have not beaten: Super Mario Bros 2 & 3 Super Mario 64 Super Smash Bros series Streets of Rage series Street Fighter series Mortal Kombat series All of Final Fantasies I - VI, Tactics, VIII, X-2 Any Castlevania other than SotN or LoI Halo series Doom series Quake series Now I don't like fighting or FPS games, which explains why a good number of the games up there fall into those categories. I also don't like sports or racing games, but there are exceptions in all four categories. Point being, I'm thinking we might want to up the criteria for a game being "must have."
-
Ah, you're right. My mistake. Though I would only use a controller then, and not a full-fledged hardware synth.
-
Fine. I'll give you something else I noticed: Reason doesn't seem to fit within Propellerhead's own naming convention. We have REcycle to capture samples and make loops from them. We have REfills to bring added sounds to our music-making repertoires. We have REbirth to emulate some older vintage synth sounds. (though I haven't quite gotten this to work, and I know it's no longer supported. I heard about a Rebirth Refill... is that good?) And then we have RE... ason? ......???? That's one lucky pun.

GameBoy Refill - OCR Exclusive [UPDATE]
The Pezman replied to anosou's topic in Music Composition & Production
Well if you have to use Protools I suppose you have no choice. But I think it might be waning as the so-called "Industry standard." Logic, Sonar and Nuendo (at least) can all serve the same functions just as effectively. All I know is that I don't need a program redirecting audio out of a piece of required hardware when any other program will just route it out of the soundcard. Like a normal program. That said, I hope your Mbox arrives soon so that the refill can be completed. -
That mess alone is, for me, reason enough to keep things as software-based as possible.
