  1. A bit of damage control wouldn't hurt, would it? Like, at least tagging the files and making it a subpar release instead of a non-release release. Oh well, music is still music.
  2. neblix, you should stop posting irrelevant stuff. We don't care about your humanities teachers unless they have something to do with video games or music. Anyway, the remix... The Proto Man stuff is pretty cool, nice work stretching a short source. Gemini Man is no less cool. The recording quality is what it is, I'd say it could be passable, but only barely (and needing some processing), but there's a few rhythm messes. It all adds up to something that's worth recording again. If you have more than one recording device or some way of mixing them together from multiple mics you should try that. Jazz recorded in multiple sessions probably won't have the same feel as a single session with everyone together. Besides, the sound bleeding and stuff should only make for a more realistic sound as opposed to studio productions. If you can't do that, there's some processing you can do. I laid a transients processor, a multiband compressor, a stereo widener and an EQ on it, and got it to sound pretty good. If you give me the wav/aif I can bounce an mp3 with those effects on it. Those effects make the recording sound pretty good. I'm gonna make a sample of it from your mp3. Uploading soon... edit: The mixfixed sample, alternating original and mixfixed.
  3. If anyone has an arrangement but no good sounds/mix skills I can use whatever sounds I have - mostly synths or synthy soundscaping - on it. I'm in too many projects to start writing an arrangement for this atm, but I'm available to help out with (mostly synth) sounds and mixing. This project needs more love. edit: Don't let my mediocre posted remixes fool you*, I now have Omnisphere at my disposal. Sound goodness abounds. Need a new age ethereal pad, or a Tesla coil lead, waterbowls, or an e-bowed (insert string instrument here)...? * you, fellow ocremix-reading-remixing-person
  4. Nope, mastering is the final track's stereo phase and volume esp. in regards to other tracks in the same group (e.g. an album or soundtrack). Terms are muddy, but most effects and stuff counts as sound design or mixing. Even the stuff on the master output counts as part of the mixing stage - it's before the mixdown. Audio engineers laugh at ppl who misuse the term mastering. Just saying. I'm not an audio engineer. Yet anyway. Sorry to not give your wip any comments, DW.
  5. Download them. On a remix page, click on the download tab and then right-click on one of the download links and select "save target as" or "save linked file as" or whatever it says in your language in your browser. Then it'll download, then you find the file on your ahrd drive and drag it to iTunes. ...or if you're familiar with torrents, download the torrent files and set them to download. If you're not familiar with torrents, never mind.
  6. Uh... yeah, get them into iTunes, then drag them into the ipod in the sidebar on the left side of the itunes window. Just like getting anything else on an ipod.
  7. I'm pretty sure there's no made-up languages in Metroid advanced enough to make lyrics with. Don't think there's anything in Zelda either. In both game series' there are instances of vocal clips in no known language, but I don't know if they're advanced enough for any lyrics. Neither Chozo or Hylian tho. There might be some Hylian voice clips but I'm too lazy to try finding anything.
  8. If there's no way to credit ocremix for the music used (e.g. in a youtube vid description, shownotes or the end credits of a movie) then you don't need to. I'd say your hold music would count as such. Tho if you're supposed to submit original music for the hold music I don't know if you can use OCR stuff. The source materials aren't owned by ocr or the remixers; the remixes are derivative works of copyrighted works. Dunno. Anybody more knowledgeable about stuff like this?
  9. Let Jade use whatever name she wants. The current name is fine. Then again, if the end result isn't as enchanting as it implies, ppl might be disappointed at first when it's rocking or chilling or groovy instead of enchanting. If it doesn't quite fit the songs, the name wouldn't need much fixing anyways.
  10. http://www.ocremix.org/remix/OCR01474/ Not energetic, but really creepy.
  11. I can make sense of the question is if the OP is concerned about the feedback boards. Posting on either of the feedback boards is NOT, repeat: _NOT_ the same as submitting a remix to ocremix. Info on submitting remixes to ocremix Could also be about re-arranging one's own video game music compositions. You can sub an arrangement of your own video game music if you're a composer and have your music on a game that's notable enough (which is up to the judges/staff to decide). The Fat Man did it. That's not the same version as was used in the games tho. It's called "remix" for a reason.
  12. They're waay ahead of you. Don't think they've tagged everything yet tho, and it's not the mixes themselves that are tagged, just their review thread (and no direct link from review thread to remix, unfortunately). Tho artists filling out the tags themselves is a stupid idea. Then there'd be stuff tagged "epic" and "awesome" and "lol" and "shtyjdgfgts" and "oc" and stuff... Like on youtube.
  13. Should have suggested that it'd be posted on someone else's birthday. Like, this month. Anyway, last month was a great remix posting month. So far, this one isn't looking so good. Does that mean the pretzel isn't happy like he presumably was last month?
  14. I need a name for my track. Which is finished (hint). Project members, please login/register and login, listen, suggest something.
  15. There's borrowing, and then there's just personal style. I noticed my Braincooler mix (tbp) is a lot like my Eat Your Own Dust. I noticed I do a lot of the same things in remixes. I've noticed Disco Dan, DarkeSword, bLiNd, LuIzA, and so many others (but those come to mind as good examples besides myself and Will) have their distinct style, or styles. I've probably heard most of these, and I'll rather have them posted and be reminded than comment now and not have much to say in the review when they do get posted. In 2013...
  16. Don't be ridiculous. It'd be posted seven years after it was subbed. Yes, predictable joke.
  17. Metroid Prime Hunters: Hm... Used sharpen a bit. Too much? I want these. Dibs on Noxus. All 7. You don't have anything better to do, Liontamer or whoever's gonna add them. You don't have anything better to do. No. You don't. LT's comments: Kaden: Can barely tell what that is, but looks some sort of honeycomb thingamabobber. Sure. Sylux too, I'll live. Noxus/Trace: Doesn't look like anything. Samus: Too tight of a crop, but I'll live. Spire: Ugly.
  18. Just rip the survey questions from ocr's published interviews (like this one), maybe talk to whoever's in charge of interviews about makings yours an official ocr one?
  19. Short answer: no. Long answer: nooooo... Actually, that would be cool to hear. Make it, post it on the remix feedback board. But subbed, paneled, and posted on the front page? No. A mashup doesn't change the arrangement substantially, so you're just using someone else's work to get posted. That's not gonna work. But there's been mashups posted on the boards before. You should do yours and post it, too.
  20. Basically, it's the dynamics of the instrument. If it's patched right, thatis. Can be tied to just volume, or to cutoff and other attributes as well. I've only used it on tracks with sustains, like woodwinds and legato strings and brass, but I guess you could use it for anything. Nice way of humanizing volumes, give them that little extra in dynamics, but you don't want a piano to get louder on a sustain.
  21. Hey Nase, didn't see you there. Yeah, see if you find anything you want your name on.
  22. Sorry pu. I'm not gonna have you cage-fight Tauce over it. I don't mind having two remixes of it (tho I prefer having one of each of the other tracks first). Who finishes first? I like how you're thinking, Tauce. Welcome aboard.
  23. Or just show me you can work fast and good. And l99... Appreciating the plan.
  24. Updated tracklist. Sucks having to open tracks, makes me feel like the project is moving the wrong direction. Oh well... new tracks, ppl! Any takers? I also started a new sorting system for wips and progress demos. Should make this behemoth easier to manage. I would appreciate if you all dropped me wips so I can put it to good use. Especially if you haven't sent me anything the past few months.
  25. I wish I could make this a sticky but... oh well... The forums are cluttered with stickies. Couldn't some of them be unstickied, some be combined into "this forum's rules"-stickies?
