  1. Balance is overrated... as long as my fave characters play well, I'm a happy camper. Actually it's even better if my fave characters play BETTER; it makes beating people who like other characters easier. Of course, when they screw up Ness and Kirby, and weaken Pikachu, that's when I get annoyed.
  2. I made one comment, and somehow this is interpreted as a maelstrom of complaints.. I like Sakurai, but I HATE how Nintendo constantly makes up some proposed date, and then goes back on it, TBAes, and then adds a year on. I've played Nintendo since the NES, they've ALWAYS done this crap, and with any other sort of enterprise, if you set a date, you have to make that date. I may not have 75 billion bucks in my bank account, but I do realize that if they really want to delay, just keep TBA on the Zelda, Mario and other major games, and just suggest something like 'we're targeting it for 03 2009' or something business-speak like. But they don't. They didn't do it when I played NES, and they don't do it with the Wii now. So needless to say, I'm not expecting them to change, but when I hear a Nintendo employee, or de facto one like Sakurai get smug, it's really, really annoying. I wrote like a month ago I'm actually glad they delayed, but, the fact they delayed makes Sakurai's smug statement a little outrageous. So yeah, they either need better time management, or to be more honest with us, their customers. And all they need is to just post 'TBA' on most of their major titles... as they will almost certainly be delayed anyway. Nothing of substance would change, just the trust of their customers.
  3. Ditto for Earthbound. And I want FF3 (6), FF2 (4) and Mystic Quest. And translations of the first Fire Emblems!!!! Oh, and since there's Sega, the Lunar titles (especially the Sega CD one). Lunar was the first time I realized a non Squaresoft company could make excellent RPGs.
  4. I'll probably use the 'ol gamecube controller, but I think I'll try out all four combos. the nunchuk+ wiimote combo looks interesting. This post was a little annoying... 'I hate to say it, but we've thought of everything.' Except time management... geez:nicework:
  5. Yeah... Nintendo has a way of lying to the consumer. They need a counselor, or perhaps a good friend to confide in so they can break their habit. It looks so bad
  6. Youtube is pretty sucky... it's decent on my laptop's speakers, but as soon as I put headphones on, I scramble to find a better sampled song somewhere. Anyway, since it's only 20 minutes away, who thinks a new character update is in store? And is everyone out there shopping for Christmas already?
  7. I didn't know him, but my heart goes out... This totally sucks, he's almost the same age as me. I hope his family is OK...
  8. Cool. I'm actually pretty shocked at how well Smash 3 is evolving, it's already exceeded my expectations, and I'll probably be preordering it after Christmas. I think Nintendo is somewhat partial to MIDI, though I don't know why... so it could be possible if they include some sort of converter in the game. If there was a 'music' channel available, I'd say we'd have a better chance, but as it stands, if they include a few other options but no customizable soundtrack I'll still be happy.
  9. I agree with Atma and Strike. The soundtrack seems amazing, but if I make a FF inspired stage for Ike and Link, I'd like to have music better suited to the theme. The same with that bomberman stage a zillion pages back... why not use a Hudson MP3 rather than finding a substitute in the hundreds of tracks in the game. Anyway, there still has to be one or two huge features they have left to 'unlock'. It'll be interesting finding out all the stuff they didn't include on the website come next February
  10. It's NorCal. Basically everything north of Bakersfield is NorCal. Sacramento and the Bay Area are the the largest areas. L.A. and San Diego are the SoCal metro areas (basically all the population in SoCal spreads out from L.A. until the desert and then there's a break in the mountains between San Diego county and the L.A. area)
  11. Yeah I agree. That ISN"T unrealistic, however, maybe expecting developers to listen to the users is nowadays.. I've used Windows Media, Real, Winamp, Itunes and probably a dozen other programs. I liked Winamp when I was back on XP, but I didn't like having to download everything and install plugins to get some of the functionality I had in Real and Windows at the time. I use Itunes now, and it's great, except for a few things. The 'shared' folders have a tendency to crash if you're on a big network (like at my university). There's also significant down time and buffering even though you can be on a very stable connection. I'm a visual person, and the fact that the 'album art' can be removed or added depending on the whim of apple's servers is really annoy. If I have a album label A, and they give me some generic art when I have the special edition, it pisses me off. Or if they don't have it at all when I have an obscure track, that nonetheless is out there SOMEWHERE also annoys me. Either support nearly all the art, or make it easy to manually add the art. I should be able to put any image there, if what they have doesn't suffice. ITunes also has some good and some bad presets for folders, but I have yet to ascertain if you can make specialized folders, for example 'all rock' 'all soundtracks' 'all artists with the letter 'a' in the title', etc. Other than those little quips I like the sorting features of Itunes, although I'd like a bit more customization, most of those things I can do from the media viewer in OSX.
  12. Meat, fat, and too much food. Sleep. Happy belated thnksg1v1ng. 10 chars.
  13. I forgot what I did... I gave weird answers for the Boy's special move... and it is freaky pulling hamburgers out of the trash in an RPG... and eating it. And hitting hippies with baseball bats. And 'erasing' statues. Dude, that game was out there. It was like the creator was permanently on something very, very bad for you... but comical to watch. I think I had PSI Ultima once... I loved that game... and PSI Space Invaders or PSI Ultra 64 (anyone know what that means? ) Yeah whatever... I've played games for a long time. All games should let you name the 'big spell of ultimate destruction' You could change Meteo into "Happy Stars of Niceness" or Omnislash into "Clouds Storm of pretty colored slices" or Bahumut into "Barney Attacks Godzilla!" And now to bed!
  14. I'm from So Cal, but if you want to fly down in the winter at some tournament, you're more than welcome Ok more seriously there has to be some group that plays. WHich school do you go to? There's always smash player at a university... assuming you're in a university. Also, try to check out smashboards.com. They seem to set up a lot of BBS related events you could look into
  15. I don't know. I thought it was just ripped from Squaresoft games that often had lame assist spells.. Anyway this update is great. I don't hate Lucas anymore. I still want Ness, and NOT a broken Ness like in the 2nd game, but I'm pretty content now. The last 2-3 weeks have been immensely lame, but they have to stretch out the updates somehow, with another 2+ months before the first release in the game. Oh, and LEVEL UP! (cue Final Fantasy level up music, FF battle victory music, and a lame Sega CD announcer stating how much awesomer my character is now)
  16. Have you ever played one? At Gamestop or a friend's house? It's great... there just aren't enough good games yet. Well outside of Nintendo, anyway... If you really want one, get familiar with the stores in your area, and call them, ask them when shipments come in, and BE THERE WHEN THE STORE OPENS. I just sorta fell onto my Wii; I had joked with the clerks about being pissed at Nintendo for not having any, and just said 'so you guys don't have any, right', but they did. That was the coolest moment in videogaming history for me. Ok not really, but still it was sweet... If you want one, you have to get out there, or hope somebody can get one for you.
  17. The white thingie looks like a volleyball, but it could also be a dodgeball. So now we have Will Ferrell confirmed...... BOOOOO!!!!! Perhaps well see AT from a bunch of older Nintendo sports title coming after this? That would be cool..
  18. Hmmm, well that's a position I'd like to be in, having more games than I could play. I have like 4 here at my college on Wii. If you can rent the game a bunch of times, you could probably beat it w/o paying the full price. You might try that. Anyway, peace.
  19. I wanted more difficulty with OOT, but Majora's Mask fulfilled that to the point I never finished it. Anyway, to each his/her own. I don't like every highly rated game out there... it doesn't make you any less a gamer, just a different breed.
  20. Have you checked out the VC? I know it's not the same as getting a brand new game, but if you can afford $5 or $10 maybe you could look up some classic games until you save up enough?
  21. There should be stiffer people who endanger others on the road, period. I know drunk drivers have gone to prison for like 3 months for crashing, gotten out, killed someone, etc. The sad thing is so many college parties, people never discuss this, and then everyone could be drunk, or the 'regular' driver isn't the one who's been sipping water, or whatever. 50,000 + people dead on the road each year, and the fact that some people literally get away with murder is appalling...
  22. wow, you went/go to a Cal State? Awesome. As a sidenote.. my last post might sound like I'm advocating psycho driving. I'm not. I'm advocating responsible driving......... ........ .... with some venues for more enjoyable driving. I don't want anymore school buses run off the road by psychos anymore than anyone else, but I don't want driving relegated to nothing more interesting than getting from point A to B at 55 MPH. That also would be the loss of a great outlet for fun.
  23. I like the Snorlax pokeball... this actually seems pretty cool too me, and more effective than Yoshi or Diddy Kong's final smash... I may use them now. Drop a big piece of ice on everyone, no aiming required.
  24. I'm from Southern California, so I know crazy driving when I see it. I know driving can be crazy in a lot of the country, but when I went overseas it was at least as crazy as the things I saw driving in Los Angeles. For instance, if you're in China, all the drivers are pretty much new, due to the economic boom, and now streets are clogging roads with WAY too many cars, and traffic gridlock can be filled with people walking, scooters, motorbikes, and bicycles. I've seen some insane things on roads in California, but I never saw people walking on a freeway, crossing it. That was frigging insane. I agree that driving is a pretty dangerous sport, but it's fun when you're speeding so fast, you're basically praying not to crash.... not that I would know about any of that. Driving is part of the American character. You can choose to drive safely, or in an entertaining way. I don't advocate drunk or reckless driving, but driving is far too much fun to see it as just transportation, it's a form of exhiliration. Oh well, Cali bias rules... drive fast.
