  1. Pay me, and I"ll write the story. Or if this is a free venture, give me credits, and I'll write the story. Just be warned it will be strange... forewarning over.
  2. Anyone else guessing there's a new character update this morning? Let's hope for Captain Falcon, or, against all odds NESS!!!!!
  3. I love Japan. The more Japanese-styled games to me, the better. Even though the name is corny (Demon blade? Geez...) I like the character. I am so tired of seeing princesses run around with a smile on their face, destroying all. If you have a heroine, make her look tough, and not like a stick. Someone who looks closer to a woman is more appealing than the constant unrealistically propoertioned men and women populating video games. Maybe if people had more types of groups and body types represented we would have a richer experiences, but even if not, it wouldn't be as boring and monotonous...
  4. According to Wikipedia (and I wouldn't trust this for stock picking, so take it with a grain of salt), Activision is worth 1.4 billion, Blizzard (which is a unit of Vivendi Universal) is worth 1.1 billion, and Vivendi Universal worth 20.4 billion, with 4.4 billion in revenue YEARLY. So I would guess its buying Activision out, having them invest some in the reorganization of the company, and merging the two companies/units. A direct press release from the companies would be nice.
  5. From this story it seems more like Vivendi is eating Activision and giving their shareholders some money. If we get some concrete details, we could know what the organization of the company is going to be, but right now it looks more like Vivendi taking a stake in Activision through a subsidiary and getting bigger.
  6. I was hoping to see som SSB stages when I saw that 'update', but alas not. Maybe they're tucking that away for another 'update' or leaving it as a snippet to fill space on another day. We would be past speculating at this point (except to how great/badly it would play) if they were releasing it on time. Oh well.. I have too many titles to play this break as it is, without adding another in.
  7. Fair enough. Bad things happen to good people, and bad people.. I guess I'll post back if there's something concrete that comes up. It would suck if someone was fired for being honest... crap like that needs to stop.
  8. It's not my site, but if I had a setup this nice, I would probably cash in. Make it look elegant, and get paid, man!
  9. OK, I'll apologize for starting the spoiler-fest. Next time I'll put it in white. Anyway, yes TP looks the best. If we can get TP Ganon, with his LttP or OoT transformation, it would be AMAZING. Of course some purists would cry foul, but it still would great. If Ganon gets a bit more speed, and keeps the fast throws with a few other moves, he could shoot up to first tier. We have 3 heavys now, five if you count Ike and Wario (I have no idea why Sakurai called Ike heavy...) so with 6, the game would finally have some weight-class balance.
  10. It's a great show. One of the reasons I continue to like Cartoon Network is their picking up the show. Other than Adult Swim (is that still on?) they sold out and are just another kiddie station. Matt Groening must be so rich by now. Futurama, the Simpsons... it would be seriously nice to produce 2 major series going on for multiple years.
  11. I don't know. Honestly before this week when he met with Kanye West, I thought he was dead already. I hope he made his peace and R.I.P. 69 is pretty young to die now, but he did... extremely crazy things. I guess that cuts down on the years. At least his family should be well-taken care of. I know his son is a stuntman also.
  12. I think, regardless of whether Eidos explicitly asked for the guy to get fired, they certainly were pissed, and after they informed GS they were pulling money, THAT got Gerstmann fired, then the result is the same. He was fired for cutting into the bottom line. There doesn't need to be a conspiracy for it to affect the 'reporter'. I don't really hold game reporters in high esteem.. but if we're going to take them seriously as members of the press, rather than privileged gamers who got a nice break, then they need to have the same freedoms extended to them. If the N.Y. Times fired a reporter for bashing a product by a major advertiser, they would take flack. If there was any reason unrelated to Gerstmann's job performance that got him fired, that's wrong. We may not have any explicit proof, but with the odd blog posts by some of the editors, something strange is going on there. This isn't really surprising though... it seems like the media is more in bed with journalism each day. I'm just surprised it happened to a major editor.. I've never heard of this guy before. I generally go to Kotaku, IGN, some Nintendo sites and 1UP occasionally. GS always seemed crappy and full of spin, like what GamePro turned into... just more popular now.
  13. HAHA I fought both the dudes. OoT would kick both their butts at the same time. TP and WW were both too easy... so looking at it that way (rather than how cool they look; TP takes the cake there) OoT Ganon would win. He was harder, a lot harder actually, and didn't die so easily. TP had a few transformations, but none was really harder... the last fight was interesting, but it was more like "Wow, if the game had fights like this the whole way through, the game would be a 10!" way, not "THAT WAS THE BEST BOSS FIGHT EVER" way. Of course my fave, LttP Ganon was tougher than all the others.. except for maybe Zelda II and IV... I never beat/played those... I want PH now...
  14. ditto, but also OoT was a great version. That Ganon seemed truly evil... the last few ones have been too wimpy. A Link to the Past and the first two have songs, so maybe something from Phantom Hourglass? The game looks pretty interesting.. I might pick it up next year.
  15. Well, I don't know if he was canned for reviewing the game or not. If it's true, it's horrible, even if he was a bad reviewer. People shouldn't be fired for political reasons, but it would be naive to say that never happens. Gaming magazines are biased, period. I don't know what the extent of that bias is, but before I was in college I made a point of ignoring reviewers who I knew made crappy or slanted reviews. Over time that has been more and more people, and now I basically just buy the games I like, because at this point I know what I like well enough. That said, I wouldn't be surprised if people do get fired for writing bad reviews. Maybe it wasn't this guy, but these companies have billions of dollars... they have to have some sway whether if it's with the reviewers or otherwise. Maybe in a few weeks we can know for certain.
  16. I hope they kept the previous version. I prefer that to the new mix, although the new one is OK. Maybe on the Wii it'll sound good... I think Sakurai added a bit too much 'crazy' to the cauldron for the in-game music. But crazy tastes good, as we all know!
  17. All games should be like Japanese games... this may be the first Russian company to 'get' it. Seriously though, it seems pretty lame, but who knows? With the right concept, and something like... a magic ring, kidnapped lover/family member, and a large array of weapons it would be 100% like all video games. And isn't that what we all want? Nope... but still I like the main char design.
  18. He's the guy who gave TP an 8.8? I'm seriously peeved about that again... Getting fired for giving a bad review to another crappy FPS is a pretty lame excuse, but I'm sure it's happened several times before. Gaming mags, online or otherwise are horribly biased, and have been that way for at least 10 years. It sucks he got fired but it isn't like he can't go to another mag, after being editor-in-chief. Hopefully he'll find work soon.
  19. Write down your ideas, it should allow you to sort them out better. As a name: The Dragon Mecha Extermination Squad (D. Mech) I see mech, so I'm going to 'draw' from Gundam a lot... You need an adventurous rouge. Hopefully a jerk, who for some contradictory reason, is also someone with vast leadership skills. You need an even greater rebel who only sticks to the cause because of his rugged warrior code Ideally you should have at least 1 mechanical genius on the team, for when disaster inevitably strike. Bring in one woman, and someone who isn't white, because tokenism is the name of any great anime-derived work. And 1 Japanese looking guy/girl. OK I guess I'm too sarcastic to help, but I like the name. You can use that if you like
  20. Well I'm assuming smash balls are on the options screen. If you've ever customized battles by turning the frequency higher or lower, and turning certain ones off, you can lengthen melee's entertainment value.. It looks like the basic options are more or less the same from the first two games, so the only question is will they include the smash ball in the menu. I totally agree about repetitiveness, but that's why I'm trying to see how they're putting the game together, to allow different customizable scenarios. Now with the level editor, my music, the previous options can take a dramatic shift on how level will work. I imagine it'll make an excellent game for parties.
  21. THe variety of ways the FS works is going to make this game insane. I don't know if two can appear on screen at once, but maybe you can do a 'FS only brawl' by changing the items like you could do in Melee and Smash Bros. with the hammer. That would be nice. I want this game now! I like Wario's moveset change... perhaps they figured going old-school would resonate with older gamers, and not just people who play minigame collections?
  22. I hated previews of MP because it looked like they lost the 'adventure' nature of SM without having intense FPS action.. But the game was insane, insanely fun, insanely hard, and beautiful. It really made me rethink of Metroid in the echelon of Nintendo series... for a while I was going to put it in '2nd' after Mario itself. I didn't really get into MP2, but I'm certainly getting MP3. I would have the next Metroid series go closer to the 2d roots, or have a lot more enemies to make the pace frenetic. Super Metroid had a way of being hard, without having to give you too many enemies, that seemed to be lessened in the MP series. Back to Zelda... does TP beat Oot, and why?
  23. Work through it. Usually when you have any kind of creative block, your mind is trying to work through something complicated but can't reach the solution. If you have time, take a few days, or even weeks off, then go back and work hardcore. If you keep working after giving yourself a bit of a rest, eventually the floodgates will break open. If you been working pretty consistently on something... go do something different. Experience something new, learn something... anything. Inspiration can come from the strangest places. Again, take a break, and then go and try to put some substantial work in. If you just do a little, it may not be enough to let your brain work through whatever's blocking you. Good luck!
  24. Best wishes to his family. I lost a cousin about his age. It's terrible to die young.. actually I"m about his age. A little coincidental how the most recent remix is entitled 'clairvoyant eulogy'... eerie.
  25. That song is psycho... but it is nice to see the music will be random... why didn't they just show a new player?
