  1. you know some people might think that everyone is heavily biased towards listening and making music for the final fantasy series, but listen to this track and i think its easy to see that it is done for good reason. A story like that is more than a game, its an experience. I know it sounds dumb but its true. If i die and there is a heaven, i will inevitably be thrown into that world which is so beautiful. I look back on that game with so many fond memories, its hard to shake. This track reflects everything about this game that is marvelous. Moreover, its like revisiting the entire game in 5 minutes because of how well balanced in diversity it is. It has the positive and negative in powerful contrast, with all the spirituality of a Hayao Miyazaki film. All i can say is thank you for the trip into memory. From a technical perspective, the dissonance between notes is outstanding, as is the tender attention to percussive dynamics. I agree with the writeup, indeed it was like watching someone draw a perfect circle. I want this played at my wedding. To be honest, i really might *listens to it again*
  2. Man this guy is right up my alley of taste. You know i like a lot of things, but at my core im definitely metal. Goat i gotta know how you get such good recordings of metal guitar! That is single-handedly the most difficult thing for me when i make music. Anyways about the track, i like the crunch of the guitars that gives it that sludgy effect which is executed nicely. Also, i dont know how else to describe it, but the solos are really nice and clean, almost like if eric clapton were to use real distortion OH! and the use of sound effects from the game was simply awesome. Let me just say thank you for representing metal on OCR. You got me inspired to do some kind of metal remix for the site and i cant wait to get started.
  3. i think the ambient noise is somewhat important to this track, because a lot of tomb raider was walking through very mysterious environments, which is what made the game so fun. Also, i really like the flute part which is rich in tone and though simplistic, is well fit. To me i think imagery of a song is always important. The first thing i thought of listening to this song was Ms. stunning Lara Croft walking carefully through a cave opening, gun poised for action, ready to jump through some crazy trap. All in all, nicely done.
  4. to be honest listening to this track made me wanna go play halo. I totally loved it. Yea its slow, but its grand and sweeping, just like the game which has giant environment and durastic/epic proportions, which the music reflects accurately. Kudos, it definitely painted an image of master chief running through the story. As a technical note, i have to agree with the writeup in that the brass is lacking, BUT having said that, i dont think its the composers fault. If someone out there has a program that can actually MAKE synth horns sound good, then number one its worth its weight in GOLD and number two PLEASE LINK IT FOR THE REST OF US! lol
  5. pardon my ignorance but what is the difference between this and an integrated blog?
  6. all i have to say is wow. This song puts a great spin on the original. This guy is definitely a man after my own heart and i can tell he uses reason. (if not id be really suprised) anyway, kudos on a great song i hope to hear more of this stuff
