  1. Ahh, so that's what's happened to Jazz Jackrabbit!
  2. Haha, thanks for the backup That's an interesting ending, but it still doesn't sit quite right with me. The story of Abraham and Isaac was much, much different than this, with a very different message. Also, the game actually does call it the voice of God. Watch the video in my link at 1:13 to see. edit: Here, at 1:13:
  3. But you'll buy it anyways Personally, I really hope they really distance this from Black and White. Not that B/W were bad, far from it - I actually think they were the best in the series - but why do we have to be the same character? Why not a completely new person, in a new town? You could meet up with old friends, allies and rivals from the last game and see them in a new light. And of course, it would lead to an epic confrontation with the B/W Trainer. Or, and here's a REALLY insane thought...what if we play as or alongside N in his continuing adventure?
  4. So, after a lot of debating inside Nintendo, they've decided to refuse to sell Binding of Isaac on the eShop, because of: "questionable religious content." The IGN article goes into a little more depth, and they have a trailer posted for the game, which is currently available on Steam. I had only heard about the game before this, but had never seen any footage or screenshots of it. After watching the trailer, all I can say is I'm glad Nintendo turned it down. As a christian, I do find the premise to be offensive, but even putting my beliefs aside it's a pretty sick premise for a game. Some people have asked "why can't we, as the consumer, be allowed to decide what we want to buy?" It's Nintendo's eShop, and therefore it's up to them to decide what to sell and what not to sell. I respect their decision to turn something down for having what they believe to be of questionable morality. Regardless of whether you agree with their decision or not, it's notable that they have the integrity in this day and age to reject a game based on content, when most publishers are money hungry pigs who will sell anything that could make a buck. My respect for Nintendo has gone up because of this. Others have asked: "Games like Resident evil, which are much more violent, are fine, and Zelda has religious influences!" Yes, but there's a difference between 'Zombies and mutants attacking you!', 'A goddess people worship to keep them safe from demons,' and 'A MOTHER TRYING TO KILL HER SON.' The game is messed, I have no desire to ever play it, and I'm relieved that Nintendo has some ounce of integrity left to turn it down. In the end, any arguments against Nintendo are pointless: if you're posting on the internet, you probably have a computer, and it isn't hard to get steam.
  5. I still can't get over the fact that the PSVita has NO internal memory. I mean, come ON, sony! None at all!? Not only does the 3DS have 1.5G of internal memory, but it also comes with a 2G SD card included! And upgrading is inexpensive: I got a 32G card for $20 for mine, and it's awesome. Meanwhile sony's got the proprietary cards that cost $20 for 4G, and $100 for 32G! Say what you will about Nintendo, they got this one right.
  6. how do we know that's not already the plot of every game? lol
  7. WHAT IF... You could transfer your save data from the first games and LITERALLY continue the story?
  8. Seriously, the screen and back touch are so large where would the skin even go?
  9. All right. Something I've learned about MGS demoes: They are weird. The whole stealth thing? Yeah, it didn't really work for me. I just ran past the guys and punched them in the face and killed a crocodile. Then, while everyone was chasing me and shooting at me, I left the area and a cutscene happened and everything was cool again.
  10. So I tried out the Vita at a GameStop yesterday. It was a lot lighter than I expected, even when tethered to the wall. It was also pretty comfortable to hold, but the buttons would take some getting used to. The D-pad is nice, but the smaller face buttons and the larger shoulder buttons were kind of weird. The analogue sticks were tiny! They hardly moved at all in any direction! However, they are incredibly sensitive: In the uncharted demo, you hardly have to breath on the sticks to make him move, so that makes up for how little they move, I guess. I still prefer the slider pad on the 3DS. The screen was nice, big and colorful, and the games looked great. But I didn't like how all the games and menus demand you use the touch screen for navigation. Seriously, and people accused Nintendo of being gimmicky when they added a touch screen? I don't want to let go of the system with one hand and smudge up the screen just to change a setting or two. Plus, they put all the menu options in the middle of the screen so you have to let go with one hand. That would get annoying fast. I didn't have a chance to use the back touch panel, but I'm sure it works fine. The system was outputting sound through some external speakers, but I could already tell the speaker placement on the system is terrible. While playing I constantly covered up the speakers with my thumbs while using the buttons. That was a stupid design idea. Overall, the system is really nice, but I wouldn't pay $250 for one.
  11. But why would you sell it? You already bought it, just pack it away until a game you really want does come out. Besides, there are plenty of good games for the 3DS, and the really good stuff is still on its way.
  12. I'm interested in trying one out, but right now I have no desire to buy one. I hardly ever play my PSP, and the only games I have for it are Rachet and Clank size matters (got the bundle), Final Fantasy 1 and 2, Wipeout Pulse, Lemmings, Gradius Collection and Castlevania Dracula X Chronicles. I also have Patapon 2 and 3, and Jak and Daxter lost Frontier, but I haven't played them yet and only got them cause they were $5 each new. Aside from the new Wipeout game, I can't think of a single Vita game I want. I waited until way late in the PSPs lifecycle until there were actually games I wanted for it, then bought them, played them, and was done. I bought a 3DS at launch, not because there were great launch games for it, but because I knew the awesome games were coming. With a Nintendo console, you have that assurance that you will be getting the Marios, the Zeldas, the Metroids, the Donkey Kongs, the Kirbys, the Pokemons, the Smash Brothers, etc etc etc, but with a sony console I just don't have that guarantee. I'm sure there will be good games for the Vita, but if it ends up like the PSP, then it would be wise to wait a few years until the 3rd revision comes out and all the games are $5 new.
  13. Don't forget about the cloud city in Minish Cap.
  14. While it could be better, I find the browser to be quite handy. Facebook actually runs pretty well on it. I just hope someday we'll get dedicated Facebook and Youtube apps for the 3DS. So did anyone else get the Circle Pad Pro and Resident Evil Revelations? So far, I'm enjoying the game. I just finished Chapter 2 last night and I quite enjoy the cheesy episodic recaps the game does. At first, I really disliked the Circle Pad Pro. From everything I'd read about it online, it was supposed to be really comfortable. But I have small hands and never had a problem holding the 3DS, so the extra bulk actually caused me to cramp up a bit. I'm adjusting, though. The second slider will be indispensable for games like MGS3.
  15. Hey, thanks! Writing the music for Isis 2 was a lot of fun. The music for Atroxian Realm is less so, simply because of memory and music format restrictions. It gets really annoying. That said, I have been able to get some pretty cool stuff written. Don't spread this around (as the guy I'm working with would probably kill me if he found out ) but here's one of the songs I'm more proud of. Security Layer. As you can hear, I'm working with ye olde dos music, so I can't get very elaborate, and the song still needs some touching up. But I'm still pretty happy with it. Remember...it's a secret to everybody!
  16. It was more to do with figuring out how to beat the enemies. For example, with the Skulltulas in the first dungeon, you have to fight them in 3 different ways: one when they dangle from the ceiling and you have to spin them around to expose their belly, one when they're stuck to their webs and you have to get behind them, and one when they're crawling on the ground toward you and you have to flip them upside down. Figuring out how to do all these things was quite a fun challenge my first time through. Of course, once you know how to do it, it's pretty easy. It's like that for most of the enemies and bosses, so it's more like a puzzle, which I really enjoyed. Oh, but there was that one room where they set 4 stalfos after you at once. That was pretty tough.
  17. As annoying as Fi was, I will still take her constant nagging over the easy bosses and dungeons of TP. SS actually had some really challenging enemies and puzzles so Nintendo gave us a character to point out the obvious to ease the difficulty a bit. I will accept this. It's like with NSMBWii or DKCR, or even SMG2: by giving us the super guide and the ability to skip any level, the developers can make unbelievably challenging and difficult levels for the hardcore gamer, because they know that any less-skilled players can just choose to skip ahead. In contrast, a game with little to no assistance would necessitate being easier so every gamer could complete it. (I'm talking about Nintendo alone, here. I know other games like Demon's Souls are stupid hard with no help.) Also, I kinda liked Fi.
  18. This. I cannot even express how much this this is.
  19. Bumped once and only once. I'm also doing the soundtrack for another Keen game, an actual mod this time. The music restrictions are extremely limiting but also kind of fun. It's called The Atroxian Realm and it's nearing completion. And here's the That's the kind of in-game music quality I'm working with.I'm actually really excited for this game: I've been able to help playtest and it's a lot of fun. The graphics are really cool. I've written a few HQ versions of the main themes. Of course, the actual in-game music is incredibly simple compared, but these were still great fun to write. And here's the thread for the game. The game's still a while away, but anyone with dosbox, fond memories of Commander Keen or into retro challenges should definitely keep an eye out for this one.
