This game is really fun. Definitely a must have for any 3DS owner. It wouldn't let me try your triforce puzzle! D: It said it was too advance for me... So I made one of my own. I didn't have any clue what I was doing and made it up as I went along.

Overflow replied to Arek the Absolute's topic in General Discussion
I'll see what I can do; i'm in a grand prix with 'Ben' and there's no way to quit D: Edit: Sorry guys! Looks like I can't change it to 150cc! I think the only option would be to create another community. And I need to get going to work soon, so I don't think I'll be able to do it. Sorry! Edit2: Haha, that was fun! I've got to get going, but have fun! -

BUAHA I got like 5 of them that time!! -
I think it's my favorite Mario game of all time. Next to World, maybe. I was never a fan of the Mario 64 gameplay and formula. Don't get me wrong, the game is fun, but it just wasn't mario. Mario is supposed to grab fire flowers, hop on goombas, break blocks, get invincibility stars and mushrooms. The 3d games just were too far removed from classic mario for me, and the NewSMB games were just formulaic. This is the first mario game that takes what I love about the classic games and combines them with of the awesome controls and platforming of the 3d games. The only thing that would make it better would be more levels and more pure 2d levels.

So Mario Kart 7 comes out tomorrow, and supposedly it's got a pretty cool community aspect to it. Anyone want to start up an OCR community? (Should MK7 get its own thread?) -
Honestly I've never been too interested in this game. But it seems to be something unique for Wii - plus, it would be a good show to support Nintendo for brining it overseas even If I never really cared much. However, I live in Canada, and so far it seems like it's going to be a US gamestop exclusive. So now what? :S

I didn't actually make it; it wasn't what I would've used if I had the choice, I'm just no good at image editing. Plus I don't really think it's an image anyone could take seriously I'm just tired of hearing everyone complain about the graphics. Even if the game was 8-bit it would still be just as great. (In before "8-bits would have made the game better.")

Game recommendations for a bright 7 year old?

Final Fantasy 4 (2 in America) was the first RPG I ever played. Awesome game, and it's on the Wii VC. And yes, all the Metroid games. INCLUDING Other M. -
To be fair, I do think that there is potential for the Zelda series to branch out a bit. After all, there are full on Mario RPGs! So I think that there's room for a Zelda RPG, or strategy game, or what have you. Spin-offs. As for the main games, I think it's the gameplay that makes zelda what it is. Namely: Sword combat, puzzle solving, item acquisition and exploration. Every zelda game has that to some extent, and that is the core of the gameplay, just as Shoot, take cover and lob grenades are the core gameplay for almost every shooter out there. To change these core mechanics would be to change the very essence of the game. If Call of Duty 16 was an run'n gun game like Contra, would it be Call of Duty? In name only: the game is so radically different that without the title it would be unrecognizable as being from the same series. Zelda 2 suffers from this, but to a lesser extent. Although it is a dramatic alteration from the standard Zelda series, it still retains enough of the core gameplay (sword combat, item acquisition and exploration) to qualify it as a Zelda game. Really, all it's missing is the puzzle solving, but some of the enemies and bosses are almost puzzle-like. My point is that you can change the dressings or even setting of the game, but if you remove the core gameplay, it stops being recognizable. If you don't like the core mechanics of the Zelda games, then don't buy them: if those mechanics were changed, it wouldn't be Zelda. Again, this is for the main series. As for any side games, I think they could branch out a bit and experiment, but maybe remove the 'Legend of Zelda' from the title, as it really wouldn't be a "Legend of Zelda" game. For quick comparison, the 'main' mario games usually have 'Super' in the title. Super Mario Bros, Super Mario Land, Super Mario Galaxy, you get the idea. A Zelda spin-off should do the same thing. Heck, they even have. You want a unique Zelda game? There you go.

Well, yeah the lower resolution is a bummer, but they have worked around it. Metroid Other M (Barring your personal opinions on the game) looked GREAT for a 480P game. In fact, it LOOKED like a 720P game, but that's because of antialiasing and other visual trickery. If you were to upscale it, it would look awful, because all the tricks are visible now. I think that they chose not to allow the WiiU to upscale (as much as I wish they did) because all the little visual tricks and shortcuts they took would shine through.

While I was playing through the game, I was talking to the Kikwis and wondering how they might connect to a later race in the zelda series. The first, obvious connection would be kokiri or maybe Deku shrubs. That made me realize: what might these Kikwi, who are just little sprout-like things now, look like when they bloom and grow completely? And the Kikwi Elder has an awfully familiar looking mustache...! Spoiler: I was pretty disappointed with how short the final battle was. For comparison, TP had a final battle with 4 stages: Possessed Zelda, Pig Ganon, Horseback chase and the sword duel, making for a very intense and cinematic finale. Here...while the final boss was a great battle, it could have been much more. Flying was such a large part of the game, so why didn't they include it in the end? They built up how big of a deal Link's special bird was and how flying is so important, but they never really used it for anything important. The final battle should have had a stage where you chase the final boss through the sky on your bird. That would have been so exciting!

If you think the game is boring, just wait until you enter the third area (considering Faron Woods as the first, and Eldin Volcano as the second). They introduce a new gameplay mechanic that is incredibly inventive and wonderfully fun to use. That area is actually my favorite in the game, and the temple makes phenomenal use of the mechanic.

Yeah, that was interesting. Spoilerish: I'm actually pleased with Nintendo for not holding its punches with this game. They had demons, prayers, goddesses, Ghirahim going on about draining you of your blood and tormenting you for eternity: it was actually kind of brutal in some places. And I loved it. Nintendo is known for being kid-friendly and censoring anything that might be offensive, but here they went all out. Spirituality and spiritual growth, Batreaux referring to himself as a demon, etc. Big Spoiler: I loved the twist with Ghirahim, what he really turned out to be. When I realized it, I was like "WHOA"

I personally love the music! I think it's some of the best in the series, actually. Spoiler: So, after watching a hint movie, I found out that you can defeat Demise by using a special Skyward Strike! 0.0 I didn't know that! I beat him Punch-Out!! style: by recognizing his attacks, dodging out of the way and counterattacking, one slash at a time. It took forever, but man was it intense.

Tru dat, this game is a challenge. Just beat it this morning, and wow. I have to say, that ending was pretty powerful. Definitely this was the most story-heavy Zelda game, and it was better for it. It had a very intimate feel. I never really got the feeling that this was a cataclysmic event, like you do in OoT or TP, but really, it worked better because it was personal. The relationship between Link and Zelda is what drove the story. I'm not sure if it matched that strong point of TP when Ganondorf crushed Midna's helmet, but it was pretty close, if nothing else. And let's just say that you will never look at the Master Sword in OoT, TP, WW or any other Zelda the same way again. Major spoilers ahead, pertaining to the Zelda timeline theories and such. So we're to assume now that Demise is the root of all evil in the Zelda universe, I suppose, and villains like Ganondorf are re-incarnations of him. That's an interesting theory. Neither he nor Zelda ever got a piece of the Triforce, but clearly they were still chosen by the goddess. Speaking of, I suppose that implies that there were actually 4 goddesses, eh? Din, Naryu and Farore may have created the world and the Triforce, but it was Hylia that watched over it. I suppose since Zelda is Hylia reincarnate, then that implies that her children were the first Hylians. Obviously they stayed on the world below and created Hyrule, and the Temple of Time around the Master Sword. That was one thing that got me: If there was an actual temple of time in Lanayru Desert, why didn't the sword get placed there? I suppose the Sacred Grounds was a second temple of time? Oh well, it doesn't really matter. The triforce became physical in this game, which was interesting. Having the mark on your hand and possessing the physical item are clearly two different things, but I wonder what happened to them? At what point did they enter the Sacred Realm?
