  1. I'm on World 5 with several secret worlds unlocked. This game is legit as fuck.
  2. Hey, I remember when y'all shot that footage in the trailer! I was totally watching it happen XD can't wait for the release :3
  3. Lessee... Zelda - Last brand new game was 2011, even if you count OoT3D. Before that the last new one was 2009, and 2007 before that. Hardly an annual series when there's been two years between installments. Each game brings rather new mechanics to the fray as well, and usually a new visual flair as well. Metroid - Last new one was 2010 with Other M, before that (skipping Prime Trilogy since that was, well, a collection of the Prime games) was Prime 3 in 2007 and Prime Hunters the year before. 04-06 were the peaks of the Prime series, with several games released (including Prime Pinball), and before that was Fusion in 2002 with Prime the same year, and Super Metroid being a whole 8 years previous. With no new game in sight, this also is hardly an annual series. Several different visual styles here, and the mechanics change wildly between the main series and Prime due to the latter being an FPS. You could only compare Metroid to CoD in this regard, and that's only a subseries of the franchise, not the whole thing. WarioWare - 2003, 2005, 2007, 2009, 2010, 2013. These are the release years for WarioWare games. Innovation? This is where you'll find it; each installment is designed to take advantage of a key piece of hardware. The original didn't, but it was the first, and introduced the microgame concept. From there, we had a game that relied on a gyroscope (before any systems did), a touch screen (it was an early DS title), a camera, the motion sensors of the Wiimote, the creativity of the player, and now the Wii U tablet, among others. Really, when a series has THIS much variety in it, I fail to see how any comparisons can be made to the annual, barely-any-more-features-than-last-year's cookie cutter titles you've brought up. Smash Bros. - 1998, 2002, 2008, 2014. Four games. Each brings something new to the table, adding (or removing) mechanics completely for the experience of playing. Sakurai himself has said Smash is more of a sport than a fighter, so I suppose that's a comparison that can be made with FIFA, but only because HEY THEY ARE BOTH SPORTS. Which is a rather broad comparison. After explaining it this way, I guess you can indeed paint it any way you want. But only if you're painting your eyes first so you're blinding yourself to reality.
  4. Considering his post was in response to Rama and not you, I don't think you needed to do anything. But that's neither here nor there. This is a thread about the Wii U, not about attacking other people under the guise of it being on-topic when it's anything but. Plenty of indie devs on Kickstarter are looking at the Wii U as a viable platform to publish on; this excites me. Shows that Nintendo has learned their lesson from the abysmal experience that was WiiWare.
  5. well to be fair there really was no way to counter your post, bleck although because of that there was really no need for a post in response at all, especially not a petty one like that
  6. Don't forget to mention that Mario 64 was the genesis of the 3D platformer, and all other cameras took cues from that game's. Really, you complain that Nintendo isn't original when the large majority of modern gaming wouldn't exist if it weren't for them, if they hadn't been original back then. If they had never been original, gaming may have never recovered from the crash of '83; they decided to call the games "Game Paks" and the system an "Entertainment System" which are creative ways to say "video game" and "video game system" Nintendo's been creative for 30+ years when it comes to gaming, and far longer when it comes to other things. The Wii U itself is rather creative in its layout. So really, I don't see where all the complaints of "Nintendo needs to be original" are coming from when everything they do oozes with it.
  7. Okay, after taking a short break, and taking into account a few things from the previous attempt, here's draft #2. ---- *whistles* Sometime before Dr. Thomas Light created Mega Man, there was a different robot he worked on. Unfortunately, the project hit a snag as the robot was nearing completion: a critical problem with its power generator. The robot, misunderstanding Dr. Light's intent and fearing any operation would destroy its identity, fled from Dr. Light's lab. This robot, Proto Man, lived a life of solitude as his core slowly died, and right as it was about to fail completely, the evil Dr. Albert Wily, rival of Dr. Light, found him and repaired it. The core that once ran on the energy of the sun now relied on atomic power, and Proto Man was free to live again. The repair also gave Proto Man some battle gear; under the alias Break Man, it was put to use in an attempt to stop Mega Man in Mega Man 3. Despite the initial confrontations, he stopped helping Dr. Wily out in Mega Man 4, when Wily kidnapped a young girl to blackmail her father. Proto Man saved the girl which allowed his "little brother" of sorts to stop Wily. From here on out, Proto Man took a neutral approach to the continuous conflicts, only interfering when he feels it is absolutely necessary. Proto Man wears his trademark black shades that were given to him by Dr. Wily to help hide his identity; he also rocks a yellow scarf and uses his whistling abilities to announce his arrival. Although he seldom removes his helmet, his hair is known to be brown and occasionally has been seen styled into a pompadour. These facets of his appearance work collectively to uphold the aura of coolness he continually projects. He feels conflicted in regards to the ongoing war between Dr. Light and Dr. Wily; one is to thank for giving him life and the other is responsible for saving it, yet the two are constantly at odds with each other. He enjoys his life of solitude, and consequently seldom keeps in contact with those concerned about him. Despite this, he always looks out for his Mega Man; after all, isn't that his duty as the older brother? --Sources-- http://wiki.themmnetwork.com/index.php?title=Proto_Man http://wiki.themmnetwork.com/index.php?title=Proto_Man/games
  8. Considering their target demographic is families, which generally have multiple people living in the same house, local multiplayer makes the most sense. And pretty sure that will work out quite well for them.
  9. I'm thinking about reworking a Crash Warped Cortex Battle mix I've been working on with Tuberz for Volume 3, if you'll have it. Mostly cause Cortex needs some representation in this trilogy.
  10. Damn, I want details on that "epic win" now XD
  11. originality, much like the words "normal" and "natural," is but a term which has a rather fluid definition in that each person who uses it does so under a different personal meaning. what one deems as original another may deem to be a rehash, and vice versa. so really, originality is a moot point. especially when we're at a time in the industry where comparisons with "new" ideas can be made with old ones with relative ease.
  12. Funny that you're shutting down everyone else's opinion so strongly while being so defensive of your own. There are those who are satisfied with Nintendo's offerings. There are those who aren't. So you fall in the latter category, so what? Your view isn't any less right or wrong than the view of the former category. There's no need to be so incredibly defensive about it.
  13. Pretty sure they said that if X/X-2HD do well, XII is next on the list. Perhaps we'll get the IZJS too. Even if FFXIIIZJSHD is quite the acronym XD
  14. DusK... you were the first person to reply in last year's thread too lol
  15. i did not expect to find a cake that said "zircon" on it and yet, lo and behold... Happy happy birthday, man! Hope it's a phenomenal one~ blackpanther, here's a cake for you and anorax... hmm... HAPPY BIRTHDAYS
  16. It's already confirmed that a new Wii U Zelda is in the works, and we'll likely see it in a Nintendo Direct before the end of the year. They just didn't bring it to E3 that's all.
  17. also this guy look, i'm just happy he's returning, okay?
  18. You can preorder Beyond: Two Souls for $35 at the Sony Store. Much better than the $60 you'd have to plunk down elsewhere, and even though I lack a PS3 this game and its story intrigue me. However, unlike the previous game from quanticdream, I don't think you'll need to press X to Jason in this one.
  19. Upon further reflection I might pick it back up... I've been thinking about how to word it this time, one that isn't as unintentionally close to the source.
  20. I was born as the SNES was beginning to be made and yet... I still grew up with NES and SNES those were fantastic systems. so many great games with so many great memories on them.
  21. he tried but the future refused to change wait that's chrono trigger
  22. I just hope Flame Man gets some great representation.
  23. they actually can't handle the fact that that Shinesparks track is still sitting under "conditional on production" after 5 long years seriously, is that just gonna sit there forever?
  24. whoa whoa whoa slow down there that's moving a bit too fast, don't strain yourselves
  25. I think the question of why Xenoblade is held in higher regard can be answered with but a single word: opinions. Some prefer FF12, some prefer Xenoblade... and then others like myself like both because they don't compare the two endlessly and enjoy each of them as their own game. Really, it's all a matter of personal taste.
