  1. I've actually been working on that one, outside of the compo. I can give you the link to the source I used: http://www.vgmusic.com/music/console/sony/ps1/Freya's_Theme.mid P.S.- I love this piece, so please do it justice... Also, I'm going to reroll on mine. It's a little too sparce for me.
  2. Haha... so zircon, how do you like your brand new VotL CD?
  3. All entries are due next Saturday! It's the final stretch!
  4. That would be the first time I've seen a non-judge make a decision on a ReMix before. How often does that happen? Who do you go to, and why, for those situations?
  5. I take it this was shot down... btw, since when did YouTube videos play in the threads?
  6. If you send in a different version, I'll just negate the previous one.
  7. I haven't seen Usa online recently. Do you know if he's gotten anywhere with my piece?
  8. Has anyone tried contacting the site's administrators yet?
  9. Uh... since when do pants tan/get sun-burned?
  10. I actually had initially thought that, but then I went and listened to the music and it didn't sound like it. I suppose it's been a long time since I played the game...
  11. There is no size restriction at the moment. Just know that people will need to be able to download it, though.
  12. You do know that bonus tracks can't be voted on, right?
  13. Yes, because you'd be plagarizing John Cage's 4'33.
  14. CMC: Conceptual Music Competition This competition is based on the rules of the classic TOMC (Thematic Original Music Competition). The CMC (Conceptual Music Competition) is designed so that each participant enters a piece of music based on a set theme. The participants take the theme and interpret it as they will to come up with something that fits. Any style can work, as long as it portrays a sense of what the theme is. Feel free to be imaginative! Each successive theme will be chosen by the winner of the previous competition. For example, say the theme of the last competition, CMC 24, was "Supernova" and the winner, Nancy, submitted a piece that knocked the socks off of everyone, so she won. Nancy then gets to decide the theme for CMC 25. This competition is open to registered members of the forums of OverClocked ReMix, VGMix, Ormgas, VGMusic, Gaming World, and Young Composers. CMC 17: Armageddon "They say the world will end December 21, 2012. There have been many theories about how this will happen, such as the eruption of a super volcano, a giant meteor, black hole, etc. This is your story of how you think the world will end, or if it will even happen. This is the story of your survival or the story of your immediate destruction and the annihilation of the human race... Will all be dead, or is there hope?" -Blue.Nocturne Results!: Text results and critiques There are 10 entries for this round... HoboKa - "The Cool, Cool Demise of Humanity" "It's a dark day. Richard Simmons has taken over the world and is systematically turning people into ass-shaking zombies of liposuctions retardedness. Contrary to this stupid theme, I made this awesome song to compliment it. Enjoy :D" quia - "Songmageddon" "It begins slow and get more intense. At one point when it's like most intense, Armageddon occurs and the song goes back to a lonely violin. Soon a piano joins in and makes the end sad." Nishant Pawar - "War-torn" "It's the end of the world due to a nuclear war and total chaos in countries." Blue.Nocturne - "Land of Solitude" "(0:00-1:00) As you awake, there is but a barren landscape with no one around in sight. Lost and unsure what happened, you decide to look around. You see the remains of your past, yet you can barely recognize it now. (1:00-1:50) Despite the odds, you try to find any hint of another human being. You begin running, frantically searching left, right, up, down. (1:50-2:07) Suddenly, you located the remains of your home. You head inside, yet to your dismay, you find nothing. (2:07-end) Depressed and lonely, you sit down. Try to remember what happened? You can't seem to, and you don't know how you're the only one that survived. Disappointed, you close your eyes, slowly falling to sleep... forever." Blue Gordon - "Herald of One Million Volts" No description given. Knives - "Mournful Last Moments" No description given. Spacecowgoesmoo - "Extinction" "I tried to write this as if telling a story, but I didn't fill in some of the specifics. I decided to let you all use your imagination with it instead of trying to interpret program notes. The gist of it is a grand, worldwide scale battle of Heroes XY and Z vs. Giant Sentient Apocalyptic Meteor, so just fill in the good guy's details and the ending as you see fit. I personally saw the instruments on Earth's side as either anime/video game heroes or as countries in general; massive armies and scientists trying to invent something to save them. I treated each instrument as a different and unique individual in this battle, so there's a storyline behind the instruments and their musical lines; for example, the piano that starts off the melody really depressed at the beginning is the first one to despair and give up on survival, before any of the heroes even start the battle. A few of them will die off by the end as well . Also, the volume should start where you can hear the very first note pretty clearly. It's 12/16 volume dots on a mac, in my case. (And good headphones, there's a helluva lot of bass.)" Alex Smith - "Our Souls Will Live On" "On the eve of 21st December 2012, a devastating virus wipes out no less than 94% of the Earth's population. Those who survive are filled with sadness, but must look to the future and cherish their lives." Virtualshock - "The Burning of Time" "It is the future. Planet earth has been transformed into a lethal array of machinery and factories. This piece has 3 parts: 1. The preparation for battle, 2. The robots, men, and cyborgs march to battle, 3. Every one is nuked and the earths magnetic field sets its orbit to close to the sun, time is burning away." Gimgak - "Total Chaos" "Explosions in the distance. The city panics. The streets fill, riots form, shops and houses are trashed. For it is only in times of crisis that the true evil of our race crawls forth from within us. But some have hope. Some fight to stay alive and pure. But either way they will all perish..." Voting Rules!: Voters will be allowed to pick a first place (3 points) and any number of honorary mentions (1 point). Only one set of votes from any one voter will be accepted and a person cannot vote for any one piece more than once. Corrections to votes, from the original voter only, will be accepted, but corrections will void the previous votes. Basically, a voter can vote and correct the vote, but only the final form of that vote will be counted. Send all votes to Abadoss by PM. Please include any and all constructive critiques (not to be confused with bashing) about them with your votes as well, so that there's always a sense of growth in the artform. If you wish to remain anonymous, just state so in your PM. Thanks. The voting period will last from the moment the entries are posted in the thread to the Saturday of that week. The voting period for this round ends March 1, so be sure to spend some time really listening to the pieces. Any participant in the competition can vote, but not for their own pieces. However, in an effort to encourage voting among participants, any participant who votes will have 2 points added to their voting score. Official Rules!: Each piece must be originally composed for this competition. Arrangements and remixes will not be accepted. (Pieces composed by the participant prior to the competition will not be accepted.) Each piece must be 2:00 or longer and match the competition theme. Only one entry per person. Collaborations will be allowed, but each collaborator may not submit any other pieces. (This also means that a person cannot collaborate on two or more different pieces at the same time.) A link to the entry piece must be e-mailed or PMed to Abadoss prior to the deadline set for each competition. DO NOT POST THE LINK IN THE THREAD! However, feel free to post in the WIP:Other forum. Important: Each file must be labelled accordingly: Composer_Name_-_Composition_Title_CMC#.mp3 (For example, if Bernard Thompson submits a piece called "Dusting off the Souls of Texas" to CMC 18, then his filename would be: Bernard_Thompson_-_Dusting_Off_the_Souls_of_Texas_CMC18.mp3) MP3 file format is required. Know that even OGG will need to be converted into MP3. (If someone is unable to do so themselves, Abadoss would be willing and able to do it for them.) Entries should be accompanied by a description and/or story to help listeners understand what the piece is about. (Not required, though.) All entries must be submitted by Saturday, February 23, 2008 at 11:59 PM - PST, GMT-8. You can find the competition threads for each forum listed below: OverClocked ReMix: http://www.ocremix.org/forums/showthread.php?t=14568 VGMix: http://www.vgmix.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=395 Ormgas: http://oc.ormgas.com/forum_viewtopic.php?2.19763 VGMusic: http://www.vgmusic.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=10335 Gaming World: http://www.gamingw.net/forums/index.php?topic=68843.0 Young Composers: http://www.youngcomposers.com/forum/conceptual-music-competition-17-armageddon-13221.html Good luck and have fun! 16. As far as I know, I'm still eligible to suggest an OST... Game: Novastorm System: MS-Dos Song: Mission 2 Composer: Rik Ede Youtube: (Starts at 3:34)-It's the only thing out there at the moment- Background: Novastorm is a rail shooter developed by Psygnosis in 1994. The basic premise is that humans got lazy, so the machines want to take over the world. The pilot of a ship called Scavanger 4 is supposed to go through massive levels and take out these huge war machines. Standard fair for the average hero. The actual game itself is a little cheesy - although the graphics were cutting edge for the time. The gem about this game, however, is it's music. It's mostly New Age, but it's really well done New Age... I had played this game as a kid and really liked it. Granted, I rarely ever got as far as the level with the music I'm suggesting, but nevermind that. Anyway, I liked the music. The main problem with it is that it's really hard to find the soundtrack to it. I was very lucky to find the YouTube playthrough videos. I'm still looking for standalone OSTs, though.
  17. Past tense... well... past-perfect tense... or imperfect... I can't remember... Anyway, the lyrics fit the game and it was hilarous in the game, but I just don't like listening to the lyrics outside of that game. Oh, right. ilp0, I actually do like what you did the music. I'm always very fond of ethnic infusion. I've also been on an accordian high lately, so that's a definite plus. I really like how you treated it. You brought out a lot of the strong qualities in the instrument. Also, nice quote of Caravan.
  18. I'd love to do so, but there's a bit of a problem with a tie... I make the posts around 2 AM because I wait until midnight and a little after to make sure I've got everything, then I compile it, upload it, and post it. It takes about two hours total...
  19. Um... is there any chance of a lyricless version? I like the piece, but I've never liked the lyrics...
