  1. Are you looking for just something to write down ideas or are you actually wanting to write songs with virtual instruments?
  2. Didn't crash my firefox, it just didn't do anything.
  3. To get your metroid prime synth sounds, follow prophet's instructions (because you can actually UNDERSTAND them now)
  4. Gah, still too much for me. Thanks anyways.
  5. I DOOOOO Okay so in PLAY or Kompakt or whatever, you should have each instrument going to an audio output. (or two depending on if it runs in stereo) So you take those numbers and you click the Gear icon of the Fruity Wrapper (upper left) and click on Processing. There'll be a list, and naturally you click auto assign. Just make sure there are enough free mixer tracks after the one that Kompakt itself is routed to, because the numbers only symbolize OFFSETS. So if I set them 0 1 2 3 4 like the default, and I had kompakt in mixer track 6, the first instrument goes to six, the second to seven, the third to eight etc. And it won't matter if you move the physical mixer tracks around, because it'll still be routed to the same position (it's crucial to make sure those mixer tracks are free and you aren't going to be moving them around)
  6. Just PM him. Worth a shot, if he's busy you can skype me and I'll teach you. Once you learn the basics, it's just a matter of plugging in prophetik's instructions into the synth of your choice.
  7. That wasn't the point at all. The point was it doesn't take that long, Rozovian himself taught me basic synth 101 in like 1-1.5 hours.
  8. I can personally vouch for Audio Kontrol 1, it's an excellent small USB 2.0 interface with XLR, 1/4 in., and MIDI in/out. It's perfect for the single studio man, but if you need more connectors at the same time, I wouldn't suggest it. However if you don't, Audio Kontrol 1 also comes with lots of free software (Cubase LE, Kore Player, Traktor LE, Guitar Rig 3 LE) Also, it comes with a free $200 product of your choice from the following: Native Instruments MASSIVE Native Instruments FM8 Native Instruments Absynth Native Instruments Guitar Rig 4 Pro If you're more interested in recording guitars than synthesizers, I strongly recommend redeeming Guitar Rig 4 Pro as your free product. Like I said, this is what I use, so I can recommend it.
  9. I mainly just threw that in there because I felt like it (and I noticed you completely ignored the rest of my post, so yeah) I'm assuming prophet is talking about the cutoff of the filter which should be labeled "cut" or "cutoff" or something like that.
  10. Oh hey look a thread that has an asshole who can't capitalize his sentences and acts like a hero just because he knows his way around a synth. The OP already expressed he doesn't know how to use a synth, which makes your first and last (section of) post utterly useless. If you're not counting my useless posts, I don't count yours. SO HEY LOOK, that means we both answered the same amount of questions. I answered three: 1. I said find a tutorial on how to make a sine wave. It's a google search if you're that dumb, prophet. 2. A regular piano. Dude, I shouldn't have to explain where to find a piano. They're all over the internet. You provided more explanation for it, however you can't just ignore my answer. My answer is still legit and correct; it's a piano with reverb. 3.The choir. Choir soundfonts are all over the internet. So maybe I didn't link him to some, so what? At least I told him what to look for. As for Parasite Queen Battle, I was assuming he meant the percussion, which I answered to the best of my ability. I even said someone else here would have a better answer. And for the first one "learn synthesis", I don't get why you have such a problem with that. If someone learned how to use a synth then they'd be able to replicate sounds they are, which to me sounds like helpful advice. I even suggested a starting point synth. (Synth1)
  11. OMG IT'S NOT FRUITY LOOPS IT'S FL STUDIO aklsdhaksfjakjsdklajsf But yes, FL Studio is Windows only, and if you/your friend is more interested in electronic music over recording, FL Studio is a very nice production suite choice. One of the reasons being note entry by mouse is superior to other DAW's I've tried like Reason, Cubase, Garageband, Studio One, and REAPER. It's simpler, left click to write and right click to delete. And it's not like right click brings a menu to delete, it actually DELETES right from the click. This means you can just hold it down and fly over every note to delete it. This makes note entry/editing/deletion a breeze. That alone makes it a nicer workflow setup for all kinds of music. The only thing it lacks in is nice recording, but even now, that's being improved on very nicely.
  12. I don't think anyone is gonna get pwned by a guy who can't spell "scared".
  13. Synthesis is basically knowing how to use a synthesizer to get the sounds you want. Each synth works a different way, but they all have a general grand scheme of things. There are lots of tutorials, and there's probably one for Synth1. As for making a sine wave, you can just look up a sine wave soundfont if you don't know how to make one.
  14. okay in order: For the first one, you should learn synthesis and replicate them yourself. I don't think someone goes around and samples them into soundfonts. sorry Second, Metroid Prime soundtrack uses just a regular piano with some reverb. Shouldn't be too hard to copy. Third, these kinds of percussion sounds are what I think should be made into soundfonts. I don't know if there are any ones floating around the net, but I'm sure someone else here has an answer. Fourth, the voices are a choir, and there are lots of those floating around the internet. And lastly, the one from Torvus bog is a sine wave. And if none of your synths have a sine wave, then you don't have any synths. (meaning even the most basic synthesizers have sines. Don't have any? Try Synth1.)
  15. You can backstab someone, feign death and become invisible, and run to safety. Repeat.
  16. That's a very general question. What are you looking for? Synths? Percussive effects? The metroid prime soundtrack uses a lot of instruments.
  17. Also, note, the website says you get $100 worth of software for free. So it wouldn't be a total waste to go. xD
