  1. Ugh, do I HAVE TO? lol Just kidding I'll get to it eventually.
  2. Okay, Snare and "desolate" soundscape. Desolation = forsaken or abandoned Could you find a better word than "desolate"?
  3. Yup... :/ Any other problems with the remix besides the drum soundfont I used?
  4. Yeah I was going for the big drum/rim shot stuff Shariq uses but I don't wanna sound like I'm copying him. He's already done Prime remixes and some of my ideas borrow heavily from his already. I don't wanna become the 2nd Darkesword, if ya don't mind. (If Shariq took any offense to that then let me restate that: I don't wanna become a 2nd ANYONE.)
  5. I don't understand why you're kicking yourself out. You get no sympathy from me. I'm mean to myself enough. Anyways, my next version if up with some minor velocity tweaks, I also increased how long the synth stuff holds out on the end for an interesting ending.
  6. Alright, enough of your reminiscing. First of all, don't curse on my WIP thread. I don't appreciate cursing. AT ALL. Alrighty then: "Then don't ask for our help if you're going to be that way." Eeeeexcuse me? Since when did I say "Well I can't EQ so this remix is good to go!" Never. Never ever. Never ever forever never for never ever. I do agree my mix velocities tend to become a bit... overpowering. If not a lot. I need to lower some stuff. Or just heighten the drums. Anyways, I may be having a sort of problem. Is my melody mixed up? Are the first and second halves switched? Because in Shariq's Torvus Clockwork remix, he did it completely reverse of what my Prime 2 melody is. (I'm talking about the C E F as oppose to High-C D A)
  7. I got some new free Asian instrument samples (The drums are external, they aren't part of the samples) so I played around and got this. Should I do something with it? The sampler is called DSK Asian Dreamz
  8. YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY SOMEONE ELSE DOING A PRIME REMIX. Onto the crit: Well first of all your choir sound is really... fake-ish. And the rhythm is completely different from the drum (not in the sense of time signature, but it sounds like you created a drum beat, and then you just pasted it together. Doesn't really fit, ya know) All of your sounds are kinda fake-ish for the first half. I liked when you got to the actual theme, but it sounded just like the source. I like when it got to the trance though. HOWEVER A very recurring problem is your rhythm, your leads and your drums don't sound very cooperative with each other. I agree *nodnod* It's no fair Shariq gets the credit for doing Metroid Prime remixes, it's no help that his little brother gets it either. We need more people (unrelated by blood is preferred) on the Prime Soundtrack. :/
  9. I think I might use more Eastern drums. :/ EDIT: HOT OFF THE PRESS!!! ..er, FRESH OUT OF THE OVEN!!! ... whatever. Added some harmony for the Prime 2 Theme (in the second half of it) NOTE: I AM STILL WORKING ON TRANSITIONS... BEAR WITH ME. As for my snare, I gave it some thought. As much as it pains me to say this I'm gonna keep it the way it is for the final version (You can flame all ya want on how I'm ignoring good advice but remember it's my remix not yours. :] ). When the final version is done and submitted and the judges have a problem with the snare, then I'll give it a go. The Galaxy is Saved by The Hope, The Hunter is The Hope Too long? How about: The Hope of The Galaxy I think that's a suitable name. Skip 2:10 for a gong strike, kinda eliminates some of the transition into Prime1 problem (if not the whole problem)
  10. I don't know what to fix though. You say "Fix the snare" I ask "how?" You say cut out something I don't know what to cut out. :/
  11. I already said previously: I can't EQ. I can't hear this magical stuff you find a problem with.
  12. Yeh I know it's always up top because you guys always bump it with your drum crits and your EQ issues...
  13. ??? ... Again: ??? I just noticed this WIP thread has the most posts, besides James The Composer's FFVII and Essence of Lime. Maybe people aren't used to seeing Metroid Prime Remixes... (BECAUSE WE NEED MORE OF EM! GET TO WORK PEOPLE, THERE'S A WHOLE UNTOUCHED SOUNDTRACK THERE)
  14. No I mean stuff that people like, not music like his. xD :/ It's spelled "special". xD You actually wrote more letters in the misspelling which is kind of weird.
  15. 0_0' Just think I'll be writin' stuff like Torvus Clockwork and Just a Little More in 5-6 years time. By that time I won't need the WIP board anymore, I think I'll just develop an ear for all this "jarring frequencies" stuff that you guys can magically detect. As far as the rhythm for the drum, I'm not really gonna change it. HOWEVER!!! I WILL change the snare's SOUND (EQ/Replacement sound). Also I might introduce some new stuff later with hi hats if enough people whine for it. My rhythm has a bit of a stop start feel to it, I'll put some stuff in to keep it flowing. As for the transitions, I'm trying figure out the gong sound Shariq used in Torvus Clockwork. EDIT: 1:45 That break of silence after the piano climbs down is intentional and I have no intention of changing it. Right now I'm trying to figure out which frequency to kill on my snare...
  16. I started seriously remixing half a year ago...
  17. It doesn't really go anywhere... It just: Really quiet intro... oh hey look some soft drums... oh nice, a flute... This is boring... it's the same thing and there's a little chiming thing in the background... same old drums... oh look he put a synth in now it's building up!!! ... where did it go there's just a little chimey thing... It does go somewhere. The whole song is like a really big, straight pathway, with the same trees and same bushes and same grass along the way. And it ends... with nothing. That was a good buildup you had going there but it was wasted when you brought the whole thing down again. IT'S ALL THE SAME. VARIETY VARIETY VARIETY!!! Change it up! Don't just add stuff, take stuff out, create different stuff! That synth in the ending was a little annoying, it was goin "Da-da-da-da-da-da-da" Really fast and it was kinda weird because the only thing with it was that slow celestia/ glockenspiel whatever.
  18. I'm very inexperienced, I'm not sure what to put where, I like how it sounds right now but... I can change it... but the changes I make aren't always for the better... they're usually never for the better. xD Unless this is something more objective than subjective, I'm not entirely having a problem with the soundscape. HOWEVER if you guys nag me enough I'll change it. xD
  19. It's 4:00. xD Taking out the 30 sec part will make it 3:30. I don't really want people to see what my earlier versions sounded like... so no. Sorry. :/ Can you explain more about the soundscape? It doesn't seem that frozen to me. UPDATE: I did some tweaking on the Prime 1 section, it's a little less annoying now.
  20. HEEEY GUYS I was just wondering that if you guys had no problem with it, I wanna take out the part at 2:30. Yes I know this will cut 30 seconds out of the remix but it just seems like that part is weird...
  21. I made you a GIF of my Gary Stue, NEBLIXSABER. . HAPPY BIRTHDAY DJPRETZEL. I couldn't afford candles so he just cloned himself and used his beam saber...
  22. ... I don't know what to say. You just put random audio clips of guys rapping about god knows what over the original songs. It's not even in rhythm. Not exactly something I'd put in Workshop ReMixes, I'd put it in Workshop Originals/Other.
  23. EDIT: Don't yell at me for reviving this thread because I DIDN'T revive this thread. It was up here, first on the list, it doesn't matter that I posted on it anyway since I didn't bump it at all. Jeez I thought I was being an idiot and was ignoring good criticisms... but this guy, his remix set aside, is just pure stupid. I hope I never turn into this (comment removed by author because I don't feel like even saying it). He should be taking your advice, not saying "Well I don't feel like changing that because I like it" when it's about a bad quality sound or something or saying "This is a bad community because it talks about what's wrong rather than what's right". Well Mr James the Composer two wrongs don't make a right... and neither do a million. No matter what's good about your remix if there is something wrong with it it WILL bring the whole thing down... So stop making rights and fix your wrongs. Even better: DO BOTH. Coming from a 13 year old kid: STOP BEING A BRAT. :/ I probably look like an idiot because he's not even here but let that serve as a little lesson to anyone who might have an attitude like James The Composer
  24. The reverb and delay are critical parts. :/ No choir is without reverb. My dulcimer needs delay and reverb to give it that string-y sound it has right now.
  25. Ooooh okay like I did before on my Zelda mix. That didn't turn out so well. xP I'll give it a shot, though. More than half of what you said is stuff I already know. I did hear you on that panning idea, though. Shariq and Rig were the only people who answered my question. -.- I know about the mixer, how do you think I use Reverb and Delay?
