  1. Oh, well, okay. :/ It kinda feels empty without a drumbeat, because all that's there is just thump... thump... thump... thump... I just think it would sound better with drums. (I guess that's kinda subjective)
  2. PRODUCTION [X] Generic/cliche sound choices [X] Drums have no energy [X] Mixing is muddy (eg. too many sounds in the same range) STRUCTURE [X] Not enough changes in sounds (eg. static texture, not dynamic enough) [X] Too repetitive [X] Too short [X] Abrupt ending PERSONAL COMMENTS (positive feedback, specifics on checklist criticisms, any other thoughts) Well first of all you need to provide a source material... Also, that melody does not match the background at all (it sounds like random notes and random notes are not good) You need to make that melody work with the background. If you don't know what I mean, then send me a MIDI of your remix and I'll change it to show you what I mean. As for drums... I didn't even hear drums. Definitely NOT good. You need a drum beat... Also it's repetitive (One thing, then another thing with that thing, then one thing with those two things, then another thing with those two things, then one with all of those things, etc.) At 2:16 is very short and you don't have much freedom for what you want to do with it. The ending is to abrupt and even though that MIGHT be okay you can't even loop it so it's NOT okay.
  3. Snappleman crowned emperor would be the worst. Sure what he says is true... but still, there's a greater chance of losing confidence than actually getting something out of him... (don't even ask me to name one time someone lost confidence over him. *points at self*) Anyways, to my question. What does "Unrealistic" sequencing mean?
  4. Edit your first post and "Go Advanced". If it's just a project you're working on it's fine. You don't have to change the title. I just thought it was an OCRemix Project, that's all. (In which case you don't just remake the songs with different instruments) But hey maybe when you're done you can start an official OCRemix Project for it.
  5. Oh well, okay. Well the way I see it is: "Who cares?" They're characters, no matter how many people play them they are meant to used. Anyways, I guess Jin is like a Ken...
  6. I think don't Jin and Ken are comparable... they have different moves and work in totally different ways. Ken throws hadouken and shoryuken one after the other Jin freezes the opponent and slashes him away. comboing tatsumakis and hadoukens.
  7. Hey guys I just beat Arcade on hell mode! Hehe maybe I should get XBOX Live so I can play you guys? Does anyone here use Jin?
  8. I will tell you right now anyone on this website that plays 360 would get murdered (and brutally frozen) by me. I am IMMORTAL with Jin Kisaragi. xD I should start playing hard modes on the game, I'll do that later... Don't worry it just takes practice... go in training mode, look at the command list. Also, set up a level 100 CPU of the character you're using. If you can use your character, you can beat your character (well actually by that time you can beat anyone)
  9. Update: Instead of the Sine Wave holding out notes (I never really changed the notes of the Sax when I replaced it with the Sine Wave) it's now arpeggiated and panned left to right. Now it's a completely electronic sound. I think it adds a cool atmosphere. Update 2: I added a little fun "ending" just so the "Rain Dancing" title won't go to waste... NOTICE: For some reason, when I work on my remix in FL it sounds fine, but when I export as mp3 it sounds a little louder then it was in FL and it's clipping and it sounds bad... (the bass and sine wave clip with each other) So I had to lower the song's volume a teeny bit. Oh jeez... I think I'm too tired right now... my mix has raised its pitch and sounds faster (in my head)... I really need to go do something else...
  10. My advice: If you like quick combos, GO WITH JIN. He can be the easiest person to use if you know how to use him and the most hellish person to fight if you don't. I can kill everyone, I've not died once with him (except against Shariq when he got real frustrated and ended up mashing Noel's drive attack, in that case I couldn't move in between her chaining moves... if I just got one freezing move in, Shariq would've been toast... er, well whatever you would call him after being frozen and slashed...)
  11. No, when I export it as an mp3 it sounds fine. It's just that Primary Sound Driver makes it sound worse. And sometimes my sound doesn't even work at all when I'm using ASIO, I'm not sure if I can continue working on my music with Primary...
  12. I don't give Shariq time to get out. I do crazy combos with Jin. Heck I don't even need to freeze him, it's just that freezing is more powerful so I do it anyway.
  13. 0.o' Try playing as him. If you know his moves you can learn how to beat him (and me).
  14. I've been using Jin Kisaragi, I'm almost surprised at how easy he is. I can string together combos so quickly that the opponent can't even move before I strike. (I use a combination of freezing moves and slashes) One of my fav combos is where he slices upward with ice that freezes the guy and then thrusts at the frozen opponent (the timing of the slash depends on how long you hold the button) while the person is recoiling I do the move where he lunges forward and slashes. Again while the person is recoiling I do the move where he slashes continuously, then I do something similar to a shoryuken and then repeat the process, throwing in the occasional freeze version of those moves. Am I being cheap with him?
  15. Hehe, sorry. I unbinded the right stick shortcuts so I have to do the combos the normal way. (ex. the lunging move where he rides the ice into you and slashes you is actually a tatsumaki sempukyaku) But since I looked at the command list, I've been coming up with all these crazy combos... maybe I should stop using him...
  16. The main "problem" in your feedback is that you're asking Shariq to come in here and help you. That's just plain annoying actually because he's right next door he doesn't need to post his feedback he can just tell me. I'll ask Shariq about my remix when I feel that there's something new to show him. Until then, I'm asking fellow artists rather than a judge (he's just one judge while what he says is true he's not speaking for every other judge) And thanks about the volume. The Bass textures... well, I don't find them that annoying. I understand where you are coming from, there are two basslines that are assigned to each melody (when the Requiem plays you get the slightly creepier sounding one.) And there are only two basslines. The thing is, I'm really lazy when it comes to makin' original stuff. Are you asking me to alternate between those basslines a bit more? Or are you asking for MORE basslines?
  17. Okay, when it said project I thought it was an OCRemix Project. (that's when remixers on this site are invited to remix the soundtrack of a gameA good example is Rise of The Star, which was directed by Shariq http://kirby.ocremix.org/) And if you are successful with your Cover project maybe you should send it to Sega and ask them if they want to use it. Ya never know when Sonic The Hedgehog 1 HD will pop up.
  18. Hello, I noticed while working in Fruityloops on a remix (titled Rain Dancing at the Spirit Temple in the WIP forum) that my remix was sounding clippy, and when I saved it before it didn't do that. I was baffled and I thought I must've been deaf to bring my WIP to the forums like THAT. I looked in my audio settings and my output was set to Primary Sound Driver. I thought I had set it to ASIO, so when I set it to ASIO again the mix sounded fine again, no clipping or bad sounds. Does anyone know why?
  19. Well actually, Gario, you STILL haven't listened to my recent version. It's louder (it's actually standard volume for FL Studio Projects now, before it was half) So that just leaves me with two problems, one problem is to just drag the drums master volume higher. So that just leaves ONE problem!!! HOORAY. And what do you mean " the texture doesn't change"?
  20. Uhm... That's good, but you see, OCR isn't looking for remakes/covers (in other words just changing the instruments) They're looking for rearrangements, which is stuff like changing the original song and interpreting it a different way. It's kind of hard to explain, but what it sounds like is that you just changed the instruments of the song and that's not a "rearrangement" it's just a cover.
  21. *facepalm* I can't believe it's not butter. He does EQ. I just don't see him using EQ so I thought he didn't. He told me not to bother EQ'ing, so he's either shrugging off my problem or he's suggesting that you can make good sounds without EQ'ing. Anyways enough about him. *facepalm* Gario you know that WIP checklist? Can you fetch that instead of your usual paragraph or two because I can understand when you guys tell me a problem, but then when you offer a solution I'm not sure if the problem was what I thought it was... So just tell me the problem.
  22. Well Gario I dunno what to say. It's insanely long and it feels kinda repetitive. Maybe that's just me I couldn't focus too much on it because I was watching videos. But it IS kinda long...
  23. Can do, Gario. But you see... I didn't do anything to the drums in EQ Test so I can't help you there. I opened two separate Fruityloops (I'm amazed I could even run that many!) And compared the effects tables side by side. Volume, reverb settings, it's the same in both versions. Maybe it's because my EQ version was at a very low master volume. However, I did bring it louder, I was baffled when I found it wouldn't clip when I brought it to standard FL Studio project level, and I made it a little higher as well. My EQ'd version was in a different file, so all the stuff in the original file that you just listened to is intact. (I'll discontinue using the EQ'd file) http://neblixsaber.googlepages.com/RainDancingAtTheSpiritTemple.mp3 Hey Gario do you remember my first WIP? That terrible version of the Megaman 7 Intro stage? I don't even have the file anymore XD I'll try remixing that when I have more experience, as well as that Electronica Megaman Zero 3 Battle song. And Gario I don't what Neblixsa is. It's this song, but I didn't make Neblixsa up. Explain what it is.
  24. Well yeah I didn't really know a better word for it.
