Actually we have three Metroid Prime Remixes, and all of them by my brother (you can see why I want to do one as well) And as for the name, how about "A Hunter's Journey" because it is the themes of all three Metroid Prime games which is her entire journey (as for as Metroid Prime goes) Or how about "Hit The Start Button You Moron..." And don't feel like your knowledge is inferior, it only took me like... three months to learn the basics? XD There's my standard "quiet" problem again. XD I have that problem a lot... whether it be remixing, socializing, or answering questions. XD I dunno how I can make it louder, it's at normal FL project level and I just added two Stereo Enhancers to the master track, see if that's any better...

Hah, thanks! But, I would use something like "A Hunter's Beginning". But thanks anyway, your insight helped me in the name decision! The cutscenes in the opening of the game, "A Hunter's Beginning" fits because like you said it's the cutscenes in the beginning (plus the songs I used are played in the very beginning of the game) Also, I'm thinking of subbing once I get a few itty bitty problems fixed...

With or without reviving the originals, they are good songs (which is why we rearrange them. It's fun to listen to an interpretation) XD And you are misunderstanding. It's kinda like a chicken sandwich. The original source song from the game is the chicken... we just add the bun, the lettuce, mayonnaise and whatever the hell you put on your sandwiches... But like you said the chicken could be good by itself if you just bread/fry/broil it. (But the chicken by itself isn't what OCR is looking) You're thinking of it as replacing the chicken with beef, which, while it is good, is not what OCR intends to do. Well, some people do that and it's still enjoyable. XD ... Oh great now you got me hungry. :'(

Well when that bitrate goes down it's gonna sound different. We should crit the version you're going to sub, because if you don't make THAT version sound good there's no point in us critting this one.

I'm sure there are some cases with exceptions, but when it exceeds it THAT MUCH, there's no leniency whatsoever. Won't even go to the panel.

REVOLUTIOOOO- *ahem* Actually I'ma go with Shariq on this one. It makes a lot of sense that the patterns should work together in rhythm, not be separate parts put together. Okay, I see what you're saying about the chords. Now that I know the chords I can write more original stuff. I don't know where you got the idea of a-minor chord, it doesn't really fit. :/ I think it's just Dm CM Dm, played like the bass and background choir. (Oops never mind I just checked again I didn't place the A-minor chord in the right place it does fit) I won't put the chord progression in the song, I'll just use it as a guideline for writing new stuff. I'm in the middle a of adding in a trancy synth to do the chord progression as an arpeggiated background section to make the song not sound empty. definition of cliche: Something, most often a phrase or expression, that is overused and has thus lost its original impact; a trite saying; a platitude :/ The only one who's done Metroid Prime Rearrangements is Shariq and he has not used this rhythm. I don't understand how you can overuse something for the first time that's never been used. XD

Don't forget snare. Not just lows and hi's but mid's as well. And don't ignore that bitrate, you could be rejected not a first, not a second, but a THIRD time for that. Actually, you would get rejected every time for that.

I could put it through Fruityloops and export it as 192 bitrate mp3, I'm not sure if that would change anything but still XD.

Hmmm, nope. Bitrate and file size is too high. Lower bitrate to maximum of 192 and file size limit is 6 MB. Everything else= gold. Well no... I don't like that constant kicking at the kick drum in the beginning. It's like your drumming that with a sewing machine.XD Try varying the velocities on that one.

Nothing's wrong with a fading ending "if it's done right". (quote of judges I saw in a discussion where someone said fading endings were abrupt) "DJ's hate fades. This track could be performed." I don't think Gario intends this to be played by a DJ. xD But I do know one thing. Not everyone in this community is a DJ and has the same interest as a DJ, so it's fine if DJ's hate the ending as long as some people do like the ending. Also, not all of the judges are DJ's either (well I know at least one isn't unless he has some sort of secret side activity I don't know about) so they won't reject it just because the ending doesn't fit to a DJ's taste.

*ahem* "(except for the voice clips - they stay 'cause I love em')" - Gario I have to admit Gario your mix has gotten quite enjoyable... if not for the un-enjoyable quality. XD You could send me the MIDI... but it won't have your synths. Does Reason use soundfonts in .sf2 format or.wav format? If so you can send me the sounds if you aren't using a sampler... but it won't have the effects (if you didn't put effects like delay and reverb that would make things easier). We would have to go back and forth trying to get the right sound. And that's not fun, considering I'm already doing a collab... So... sorry. XD

Bumpity! Also if anyone wants to suggest a name for this remix, please feel free to do so! And some people say that this remix sounds "empty". Any suggestions? And also as of now I don't know the chords of this song (There is only ever one note being played at a time within a single instrument, no chord progression at all) If someone could tell me the chords of this song or tell me how to find the right chords for a melody, that would be great. (This arrangement is in D Key by the way. Whether it's major or minor, I can't help you there. XD I don't have a good ear for that stuff. It sounds happy, which my music teachers tell me means major. XD)

That sucks, I use FL and it lets me use whatever bit rate I want (since OCR draws the line at 192, I just use that for my default mp3 deporta- *ahem* exportation. Yes, that was a terrible joke on illegal immigrants; these illegal immigrants being the clipping and popping and such.).

" The whole point of the tune is to do cool stuff with the very same set of samples that the composer of the OST used." Try saying that in the beginning. That might've stopped this whole thing from happening. XD And contrary to what you thought I'm not implying that I know what's best for your song. I'm not very good with socializing so I often have bad word choice. XD I was offering some suggestions on how to make the song sound better, but I'll leave you alone now that you said you weren't planning to change it. And in no way did I intend to raid your thread and say "This is a bad remix." And as for the "expect it to be intended for the front page"... I normally would put this in the Originals/Other forum. But that's just me. XD

I don't have a "General OCR mindset." Only judges have that. And by the way, the assessment is poor. You don't know me, and you have never spoken to me before. Don't assume what people are like. What you "think" is wrong. Whether I'm a newb or not shouldn't matter to you. I'm just saying I wouldn't intentionally put something on the WIP forum and say it's bad. The samples are poor quality and it's a big medley. I don't know if you have any intention to fix those problems, but I'd like to hear this when those problems are fixed. No one cares if you support an assessment of how people act. We're not critiquing me. We're critiquing the remix. "former judge/OCRemixer/musician extraordinaire" Have I heard your music? No I haven't. Do I care if you're a musician extraordinaire? No, not really. Do I care that you're a former judge? No. If I was just like Nase, I would say that you're one of those guys that just thinks they're awesome and their wisdom is unrivaled because they used to have a high rank in society. But I didn't say that, ya know why? You can figure it out. A musician "extraordinaire" obviously isn't stupid. Right? Because you were a former judge and you know best? You're the only one here who can tell right from wrong, right? We should all stop critiquing and let you do it, because you know more about music, right? Anyways, enough about you. I'm trying to help Nase. I was feeling a little heated when I said "come back when you're serious". What I meant to say was that you have something nice here, you should continue to go with it instead of just slapping a "failure" tag on it. This song is not bad. It just could be much greater if you weren't just messing around. I actually can't write something as good as this if I was messing around. I'm just offering some ideas on how you could make it better.
