  1. Laptop AMD's are atrocious. Hot and slow, but I was specifically talking about YOUR E-350, which is so ridiculously low end. Kyle is right, you can get decent AMD's if you look for them. They're cheap, but just incomparably low-spec relative to what Intel offers. A computer is an investment, if you're not gonna buy something ahead of its time you may as well burn your money. Simplified example: Buy ok $500 PC this year -> buy ok $500 PC 3 years later Buy great $900 PC this year -> still have it 3 years later Of course this is incredibly simplified and unrealistic, but that's a basic demonstration of why buy a high end machine. This doesn't even factor things like end user happiness either.
  2. If he were to go with X79, yeah. Didn't know you were talking about those specifically, my bad. There's only 3 processors for LGA 2011; $300, $500, and $1000. Also, motherboards are twice as expensive. Just throwing that out there for the OP. If budget is a concern.
  3. I guess it depends on your preference for either a quick slapped-on bandage or a complete obliteration of the issue. The former is understandable if you don't have much money, but I don't think anyone should make guarantees it's gonna solve the problem.
  4. That is true, but I think the OP isn't concerned with that given he requested "the minimum required video card".
  5. Metroid Prime is the best game, hands down. Retro should do a Wii U Metroid game. They have to.
  6. I'm not talking about really expensive DSP Cards here. I didn't say they were not, I was saying they are negligible compared to the effect of upgrading a video card. You can not magically make your AMD dual core laptop handle more instruments and effects by buying a sound card without spending tons of money on one that has DSP, and even then that's only for effects. If you were going to actually spend that kind of money on a UAD because your processing performance was bad, you should realize that maybe that money should be put to a decent computer instead. Goes a long way and is a much more sound investment.
  7. To clarify, a sound card is not "like a video card, but for sound." That's a misconception. The purpose of a sound card is primarily good D/A conversion and desired I/O, and onboard DSP effects if it's real expensive/special. It does not however, have beefy parallel sound processing cores to ease up what happens in your DAW. There's no "nSoundia PhysX" to make acoustic modelling easier or doing two cards in SLI to process more audio data. They're very different things, and while upgrading your graphics card intensely ups gaming performance, upgrading your sound card does NOT up your audio processing performance NEARLY as much (maybe 1/1000th as much of an improvement).
  8. A sound card isn't going to make your processing go any smoother. Your processor is pathetic, and you need a better computer. Save up your money for something that can hold its own.
  9. Fiiiixed. Skip the video card ("but it's a music making machine! I HAVE TO SEE THE WAVES!!!") and put that money either towards an OS SSD or bump up to an Ivy Bridge i7. Like I said before, which no one probably read, the Sandy/Ivy chips have decent integrated graphics.
  10. "damn we need to come up with something different... LET'S PUT RANDOM SPINNING YELLOW CIRCLES! IT'S SO ORIGINAL AND UNIQUE!"
  11. To be fair, arguing that NSMB2 is substantially different from NSMBU is INDEED rofl. It's the game New Super Mario Bros. For Wii U. @Crowbar: A change in resolution and the number of players allowed is not substantial difference at all. If one read this thread alone they could assume it's actually even just a port based on what you've listed. The game is the same. 2D Mario platforming with bright art style, very low gravity value, and cooperative play. The music will probably be the same/similar. The only thing different will be the levels. You may as well argue that Super Mario Galaxy 2 was substantially different from 1. It wasn't; it may as well have been an expansion. The engine was identical, they added some new items and made all new levels and music. Some people have done that before; they called it Sonic 3 and Knuckles. I'm fine with all of that, though. I personally like the "more of the same" if the same was good. Just saying Brushfire wins here by a landslide.
  12. Yes.uh-huh Let's try this then. At Comic-Con all the GamePads worked for the duration of the con. Problem? Not saying your opinion is invalid, but your story, to me is one of those "damn that sucks" bad luck stories more than a "I thoroughly tested this thing and it's crap" story. There are 1 star reviews for the best-rated computer parts out there, for example. And usually, it's for reasons exactly like what you said: faulty unit. Not saying Wii U is the best thing ever. I've only tried it a few times at Comic-Con. I can say judging it on a broken demo GameStop unit is ROFL. I've seen broken PS3 and Xbox controllers. So freakin' what?
  13. "hatehatehate" ^ That's one more available Wii U for me.
  14. Add embellishments and chord changes. For example, if there is some sort of arpeggiated chord progression, make a new arpeggio that follows the same melodic pattern but to different chords. It's the source material, but give you way more material to work with.
  15. I made an edit of my Yang remix for this. Instrument change, slight extension, removed all the vox. SF4:AE is off the list. ^^
  16. 1. Install uTorrent. 2. Run Torrent file. 3. Choose destination folder. 4. Hit OK. 5. Wait for like 15 minutes.
  17. The Ivy Bridge i7 and i5 chips have Intel HD 4000 graphics, more than enough for low resolution high setting gaming. The Core iX chips have had integrated graphics for a LONG TIME now.
  18. OMG you mean the processor has GRAPHICS ON IT? AMD IS A GENIUS In all seriousness, an APU over an i7 is the worst recommendation I have seen. Why would you sacrifice oodles of processing horsepower for shoddy, intermediary level graphics? It is a MUSIC making machine. The integrated Intel graphics are all he needs.
  19. I am aware of the propensity to spend oodles of cash on a placebo-type effect that is prevalent in the industry, yes. By that I mean, Macs are popular simply because of fancy marketing and the notion that more expensive = better quality.
  20. Yes you can. It is all the available remixes from 1 to 1000. Don't overcomplicate it. In case it's unclear, each remix has an ID number. The number is whatever nth remix it is on the site. Remix 1000 is the 1000th remix to be posted. The torrent is all remixes from the first remix (remix 0001) to the 1000th remix (remix 1000). First to 1000th. 1-1000
