  1. Happy birthday, Jillian, and hope your next year's even more awesome than this last one!
  2. Haha, yeah, it's always like that. It took many listenings to fully wrap my head around the intricate lines of FX3, and this is gonna be no different. So. GOOD. And man, those melodic lines in 'Weapon' are just too sweet. You know, the kind of memorable, hum-able lines you find in 'Across Rooftops.'
  3. Yeah, I'd heard they had budget issues several episodes before completion. But that still doesn't wholly excuse the fact that the writers didn't plan a basic arc beforehand. The problem I see is that, unlike most American shows, which run with the intention of serializing over many years without much forward planning, many anime are designed to operate in smaller arcs, with a solid ending after 25-50 episodes. The fact that many of them don't seem to at least have sketched out the entire arc is what surprises and somewhat frustrates me. This issue isn't just present in serial anime, either. Miyazaki's work is beautiful, and I love it as much as many other people, but there's always something missing from his endings. Oftentimes, loose ends are simply either made irrelevant (without being resolved), or are resolved almost deus ex machina. Those films are aimed toward a younger audience, so I can understand that decision, but still, it's another example of the same pattern.
  4. That ending theme is still one of the most gorgeous out of any I've heard. Don't know what it is about it. 'Aura's Theme' is also a potent theme, IMO. There's a quiet bitterness to it that makes it quite potent. Most of the vocal tracks are excellent in their own way, but what else do you expect from Kajiura? The show itself is okay. I remember enjoying it, but wishing they'd take the setting a lot farther. The basic premise of the .Hack series really could be used for a whole lot more, but what we got was still enjoyable.
  5. Evangelion was a great setup. They did a pretty great job... right up until the end, when it did the equivalent of ding-dong-ditch and threw any good ending ideas out with the trash. Pretty disappointing to me, and I suspect it may be either part of the cause or just following the trend of animes that try to have overly philosophical endings. Darker than Black did something similar; despite the superb quality of the rest of the series, and all the conclusions they could have given it, they chose to go a route that didn't really tie up loose ends that well, and instead trying to sound profound. Those types of endings just usually don't end up that deep; it's like jumping into the 13-foot end of a pool only to find out the water's only 3 feet deep. Perhaps it's because they don't take the time to write the endings beforehand, or because they're forced to write an ending for an ongoing manga.
  6. I need to go back and follow/comment on a bunch of music from the last few months of poking around on Soundcloud, instead of just lurking. http://soundcloud.com/kenogu-labz
  7. A big part of why older people can have a harder time understanding the internet: They trivialize it in their mind, making it out to be a fairly insignificant part of society and business. (less likely) Computers take a very different form of logic than what they probably learned to use, and they can't simply change the way they think. At that age, you're usually pretty firmly set in the manner in which you reason, unless you've trained yourself to be flexible. Either way, though, DUE to the fact they don't understand how it works and what it is used for, they are bound to be misinformed by others on what its 'needs' are and what 'must' be done with it.
  8. Sounds a lot like Cromartie High School, which is probably a very good thing. I keep hearing this one come up, so will probably take a look.
  9. . Sword and Sworcery and Jamestown are fantastic, but the $10+ package also has Might Switch Force (!!), Tower of Heaven, Preschtale, and the Mashup (which has some pretty good tracks in it)! Hurry up if you haven't grabbed it yet.
  10. I've been trying to hype it to other people, but it feels like no-one wants to be excited about it. I, for one, can't wait to try it out; it's one of the MMOs I've most considered purchasing, day one. Definitely hoping they can make this all as good as it sounds!
  11. Oh; from the description, it sounded like they were saying that anyone who picks it up receives ammunition instead of health.
  12. ...That's a massive nerf to the Sandvich. This is gonna cause a bit of rage I suspect... And yeah, I'd call that ROT-13, but I'd rather just leave it at Cthulhu-esque chanting.
  13. Ooooh right, derp. Definitely agree with you on that one! I can already solidly recommend the Jamestown OST, and the Swords and Sworcery album is also solid (albeit a bit quirky). Machinarium's pretty laid-back. I'll keep checking to see what the last three optional albums are, cuz I might lay my hands on a few of those as well... And you got a pretty sweet first name yourself, bro.
  14. zircon isn't represented in the bundle. At least not yet, still don't know what the other three 'premium' albums are.
  15. Naw, they couldn't even if they wanted to. Having an app store inside of an app store isn't just redundant: it would also detract from sales the main marketplace could theoretically have, so they don't allow marketplace applications to appear.
  16. If you're talking about item creativity, you gotta bring up Oracle of Seasons, Capcom or no.
  17. No-one on this site makes money from any of this music. That makes absolutely no sense. Please, Jack, you really either don't know what you're talking about or don't understand how to properly apply it discerningly. The reason your last topic was shut down was because you speak to everyone as if you are the end-all and be-all of all copyright law knowledge, when, in fact, you have acknowledged that you are in or just out of university (correct me if I'm wrong, it's been awhile). More than anything, your attitude will turn people off, and no-one will listen to an argument when given with that condescending tone. Change it, or I guarantee you will be shown the door.
  18. Maybe we should temporarily make a thread for trading Valve coupons and games, similar to the sell/trade topic, if anyone's willing to manage that... EDIT: Might as well drop my list here. Free: Killing Floor + Defence Alliance 2 Free: The Binding of Isaac + OST 50% off X3: Gold(box?) 50% off Left 4 Dead 2 33% off Red Orchestra 2
  19. If you can, pick up Bastion (and its OST!) while it's on sale. It's an excellent game, well worth the purchase.
  20. Oh, haha. Username's 'Kenogu', then. Thanks!
  21. Just posting to see if anyone's willing to sponsor for the OCR whitelist. I've tried dropping in on the OCAD server a buncha times, and I've never seen anyone there. :/
  22. The overarching timeline is there for people for whom it would hold an attraction. It gives structure to the larger world-building process. And, quite honestly, does it hurt if you don't care? It's completely external to the games themselves, so you don't have to worry about it changing your experience if the timeline doesn't interest you. I personally find it neat, especially since it provides room for a lot of 'what if...?' branches and theories.
  23. Addendum: Cave Story+ patched today, adding remastered music. Rejoice!
