  1. I got my Macbook a little less than a year ago and I feel pretty stupid because I haven't installed any spyware protection on it yet. Does anyone have any recommendations of spyware protection/removal programs? Thanks!

I love you. I really do. You are a mac user that KNOWS you need that shit. Not one of the arrogant "MACS NEVER GET VIRUSES!!11!!1"

Although you waited a year. Better late then never I suppose.

Cool beans Avast has a mac version!

  2. Hello. I'm Extr0py, and, although I have done some VG remixes and demos before (on other sites), I wouldn't count myself as an artist of any kind. I'm primarily a consumer of music, but I may release a couple of tracks at some point. I've been lurking here for around two years, but only to download the music. Sorry for leeching.

Welcome to OverClocked ReMix! Don't be sorry for leeching I'm sure plenty of people around here do :P

  3. do you know vaguely how much you want to spend? you could spend anywhere from $60 to over $200 on pickups, so you might be able to narrow your search a bit if you really cap how much you're willing to pay.

i realize this post is absolutely unhelpful and i apologize.

Naw, its absolutely necessary. I do the same for people when they wish to build PCs

I did find some Seymore Duncans: http://accessories.musiciansfriend.com/product/Seymour-Duncan-Hot-Rodded-Humbucker-Set-?sku=300030

But iunno, no more then $150 tops. a little less if possible.

  4. If you have a preexisting OS license you can buy Windows 7 pro 32/64 UPGRADE edition for 30 bucks. Upgrades also have option for custom install.

For some reason when my bro did this it placed everything in a windows.old folder even though he said custom install.

So all of your stuff is still there in that folder, but if you delete that folder it'll be as if your hard drive was brand new and you just installed a new OS.

He didn't click the 'Format' button under more options when it shows your drives.. Otherwise it will do that.

  5. Yeah I really can't bring myself to part with em... So many fond memories with the old games - I can look at the console and/or a game for it and usually remember where I was working at the time, where I was going to school, what time of year I was playing it, who I was friends with back then - it's trippy. Being less of a gamer these days by necessity, it's strange to look back and see how much games were a part of my growing up.

I can only imagine. The kids will have plenty to keep them busy. No?

  6. I've located some pics of my collection I took around 2005. Oddly enough, it ignores the thread topic completely since I didn't have any PS3 / 360 / Wii games at this point. If I ever put my stuff out again I'll take new pics of it, but for now this is all I have - and sorry about the small pic sizes...

Holy shit.I've never seen so many games and consoles in one place, (Other then MAGFest of course)

  7. The last forum I frequented, the name not important. Was full of nothing but asshats and trolls.

I came to OCR sometime in 2008, found the FF7 album and after that, I hung around here for a while, met some cool people. Heard about MAGFest. I can honestly say, when I came to these forums I never thought I would be seeing some of you in-person. It never crossed my mind.

I mean, not only do some of us come from all across the nation to hangout and have fun. Theres some that come across the sea to do the very same.

But it kinda is like a family, if you think of all the cons, and meetups as reunions. Hah.

  8. I've decided that even though there's already a thread for this, another one should be created in light of the retail release of SCII (considering that the previous thread was for the beta, that would just be confusing to use the same one). Just post your in-game name that you have displayed on b.net 2.0 along with which region your client is in. I'll make sure to check on the posts and update the list as often as I can. Your community name will be posted followed by your in-game name in italics.

Hope to see plenty of folks sign up!

  9. Release date delivery for less than 6$

Patching and installing was never this good. Would have taken me much longer to download on sattelag. Glad I got it. :)

    Good notepad, too.

Yeah, i thought that was cool the notepad.

  10. I has it! Went to the midnight release. Complete waste of my time, since I had to spend all day in another town fucking around for 8 hours. totally not worth it. Never doing a midnight release again. I'll just pre-order it, and pick it up the next day when i wake up.

  11. I'd be up for being admin if one, I weren't manager of another game already, and two, I'm off to college in three weeks, so there's no telling if I'll really have much time for Source anyways.

Also, sorry for not being on last night, thunderstorm came by and struck my internet off a few hours prior to the event. It's actually still down and I'm at a friend's house using the internet there. That said, until I get internet back up on my desktop computer, I'm outta the game for a bit. I look forward to dying a bunch when I return.

I'm kinda in the same boat, college soon, and I'm sick as a dog. I don't really play games when I'm sick. Can't concentrate.

  12. i'm missing something here. what instruments do you want? you need to identify what you're looking for before you can scour for it.

like, mitsuda, in chrono cross, uses a lot of wind instruments (flutes, oboe, clarinet), mallet percussion (vibes, steel drums, marimba), light strings, fretless electric bass, ethnic percussion (congas, shakers, tabla), and the like. don't look for a generic sample pack - look for good versions of these instruments.

squidfont is terrible for melodic stuff, but would work for background and harmonic stuff. most of the instruments have incredibly long attacks, completely unrealistic. i'd suggest finding something like florestan strings for an articulate violin, bhcello for a useable cello (that's what i used on Canvas of Dreams), florestan woodwinds for the winds, and then just browse hammersound or something for the bass and percussion samples. there's tons of stuff out there - but you need to know what you're looking for before you look for it.

edit: as for a soundfont player, FLStudio's soundfont player is good. i use that, since i use flstudio. if you're in a different DAW and don't want to switch, sfz's about as good as you'll find.

I'd have to buy the FL soundfont player the Producers Edt doesn't come with it, only a demo

    Thanks this is helpful :]

  13. I think a pretty popular one here is sfz or sfz+, both of which are free. I use the latter and it's usually more than good enough, but I've had some glitches with it when running more than two instances, but I figure that's an issue with Renoise more than sfz+.

Thats why I wont use sfz I will run more then 2 instance most likely. Any others off hand?

  14. Download Squidfont and the other soundfonts on Darkesword's page as a good starting point. Squidfont is an orchestral pack that has good voilin section as well as some brass and woodwinds. On the page there's also other sound fonts including a harp, a sax, a timpani, and more.

IIRC Mitsuda is mostly stuff like acoustic guitar, saxophone, harp, strings, but he also likes ethnic samples and orchestral samples too. You might want to download a brush jazz kit as well for light percussion. I don't think there's any "samples" per say that are exemplary of his style.

I'm not looking to copy his every instrument. But just to get the feel of the quiet, rhythmic side.

Could you reccomend me a good soundfont player as well?

    I'll check these out. Thanks
