  1. Out of all the Beams, Ice Beam or Plasma is my favourite. Ice for utility, Plasma for its power. Out of all of Samus abilities... I REALLY like the Shinespark. That, or the Morph Ball. :3
  2. What the hell? DarkeSword's posts were NOT there when I posted both previous posts. Weeird. Anyway, I totally agree with all points said. In other news, while I am unsure at this point whether it will be accepted (due to missing the deadline), Lone Star IS complete. So, back to the discussion of Metroid! What's your favourite utility/weapon in the Metroid series?
  3. If I understand correctly, the website and album work is all complete. I could be wrong though. I do have one more idea though: We COULD release the album through ShineSparkers on August 7th... and release it on OverClocked ReMix at a later date. Both parties win. Then again, that might start to complicate things. I just feel like it's unfair to both communities to have their work not released via their community. Then again, if both communities are just happy with the album being released, I suppose it doesn't matter. As long as we don't get into a great big fight about who did what, I'm pretty happy with whatever happens. Worst comes to worst, the album gets released via ShineSparkers, and those who want to hear their work on OverClocked ReMix, submit it to them as an individual piece.
  4. I hope I'm not reopening a can of worms here, but I must ask: Why can't this album be a collaborated release between Shinesparkers and OverClocked ReMix? For example, the Heroes vs. Villains was released between The Bad Dudes and OverClocked ReMix. I think both communities worked pretty hard here. The album wouldn't be nearly as filled up if it wasn't for Shinesparkers OR OverClocked ReMix. Besides, the more people who know about the release of this album, the better. I can understand OverClocked ReMix not wanting to make an exception by releasing this album infront of the rest of their hectic lineup. I can also understand if Shinesparkers.net wants to keep to schedule with the 25th Anniversary of Metroid. We don't want to miss that deadline. What I don't understand is if we're not releasing it as an OverClocked ReMix collaboration, simply not to. Is it the fear of one website dominating the other? I can only see both sites gaining more publicity with the collaboration. So, if everyone is okay with it, can we talk about how we plan on releasing the album, OverClocked ReMixers and Shinesparkers? To argue at this stage of the album would be terribly disappointing. That's my two cents.
  5. I do believe we are still submitting this as an official OverClocked ReMix album. Whether the judges accept it or not is another issue entirely. Regardless, if the album is not accepted, we still plan to release it through Shinesparkers.net in time for Metroid's 25th Anniversary. ShineSparkers did start the life of this project after all, and have organized everything up to this point.
  6. I never watched the second preview as I thought it was the first preview but with new art. Man, I'm so excited! Should we submit our mixes to OCReMix, or will the album be remixed? Also, should we post our comments for our song(s)?
  7. So that's it! The album tracks have been confirmed! So, will we see any artwork of the album anytime soon?
  8. Almost there... almost there... actually, I need help making a decision (aka, go with standard or dynamic instrument). Otherwise, they're pretty much done. Edit: Submitted my final copy of Melting Sun... but I'm not satisfied with Lone Star (aka Metroid Prime Epilogue). I've been working on it for the past month, but it's just not sounding right... it's too repetitive. I doubt I'm going to be able to complete it in a few hours time.
  9. Some exciting developments indeed! Though it's a shame to see no new posts since I last checked. While I'm still working on the Metroid Prime Epilogue, I will be unable to work on anything for the next three weeks, as I'll be out of town. Also, I noticed a minor problem with Samus vs. Rundas (incorrect export option with one of my programs has mucked up the stereo balance). I will see if I can export a fixed version sometime this week.
  10. So for all intentions and purposes, Samus vs. Rundas is complete! I'm just waiting on hearing the final bit of critique from my friends (who, unfortunately, are REALLY busy at the moment). Otherwise, unless Darren says otherwise, I give it the Green Light.
  11. EastWest/Quantum Leap (Soundsonline) is having a Two-for-One event. Hollywood Strings is also being discounted. http://www.soundsonline.com/EastWest-Quantum-Leap-Two-for-One
  12. The Metroid Prime series seemed to revolve quite a bit around artifacts, including the Chozo Ruins. However, as a whole, it doesn't exactly resemble the Metroid series as a whole (Fusion and Other M being the problem...) The Coming Sun is from Metroid Prime 3's Bryyo lore. But yes, I agree it doesn't exactly fit, and it's very obscure. I just thought the name was poetic. I like the Chronicles of a Galactic Warrior... it's a little... blunt? But it's a good description of what we're doing. Out of all of the names so far, that's my favourite.
  13. I'm interested. Majora's Mask has a fantastic soundtrack. I'm currently busy helping out the 25th Anniversary Metroid album, but I'll see if I can do something otherwise. I'm particularly interested in the Stone Tower Temple.
  14. It is exciting, isn't it? On a side note, is it just me, or is there an abnormally small amount of support for Super Metroid? Darren, how's the support for Metroid II/Metroid Prime 2: Echoes?
  15. Few ideas: Unidentified Distress Signal Metroid: Artifacts Metroid: The Lost Artifact Metroid: The Coming Sun On a side note, I feel that my Rundas mix is now a substantial WIP. I should my mixes completely finished by May 30th, if not sooner.
  16. As I suspected. That's fine, at least the majority are in FLAC. And hey, they're still fantastic remixes, regardless of the format quality.
  17. This a fantastic album... quick check though: The FLAC folder in the torrent seem to be missing a track or two. Is this intentional? To be specific: 1-01, 1-08. 1-09, 1-10, 1-13, 2-05, and 2-06.
  18. You know, you're absolutely right dude. Those will do me just fine. Thanks. Edit: Actually, I'm going to look into a standard home theatre setup. I'll keep my Mac to stereo for mixing with my Yamahas, and everything else surround sound for entertainment purposes.
  19. So I've been searching on the net, and it would seem an unbalanced signal is not really a problem for home setup / beginner studios. I would have to spend up to $2000, which is ludicrous. From what I can gather, my best option would be to purchase a set of TRS to Banana cables for each speaker, connecting them to a preamplifier, and bypass the amplifier itself. Would this be correct? Edit: I'm starting to feel like that isn't an option either, as I'm not finding anything...
  20. Actually, for the most part, I've got a great stereo setup right now. You would be correct in assuming that I have two TRS cables connected to the analog 1/8 jack. Not exactly desirable, but it's been fine so far... for the Mac. Right now, the PS3 and X360 are connected to a separate entertainment unit that I will not have access to in the new house. While I won't be tight on space in the room I'm setting up in, I only have one room for everything to fit in. My main problem is that the speakers are all ready pre-amplified. Is there a preamplifier that can... well, bypass the amplifier? I'm pretty much looking for a box that has multiple HDMI/Optical Inputs, one (or two) HDMI Outputs, and x5 XLR/TRS outputs, all while transmitting the natural signal without any amplifications until it reaches the speakers.
  21. Okay, so I'm really confused about setting up an environment for surround sound. I have quite a few stupid questions. Anyway, here goes. I'm hoping to setup an overall entertainment/music production room, but I'm starting to think that this is a bad idea. I have the following right now: Mac Pro (early 2008 model), with Optical Out.* Playstation 3 & Xbox 360, HDMI Out or Optical Out x2 Yamaha HSM50s, with TRS or XLR. Now, I was considering completing the Yamaha setup by purchasing two more HSM50s and the subwoofer. I am not looking for a 7.1 surround setup, nor am I looking for a DTS setup (unless you consider it to be important). The problem is... well, how would I go about hooking everything together? With a sound card? Receiver? Preamplifier? Is it even possible? What I'm trying to ask is... what should I be looking for? That, or should I just give up, and separate my entertainment purposes with my monitoring purposes? I'm also very likely going to purchase a TV sometime soon. I don't know if that should affect anything... Anyway, hope I don't sound like too much of a clown asking all of this. I really wish surround sound was an easier ordeal... Edit: I'd also just like to say, I'm not looking to "boost" the signal in any way. I just want the most natural sound.
  22. I LOVE this mix. I have very minor criticism, things that could probably fixed pretty easily. Firstly, I think there's a bit too much going on at one time at the moment. I think a little level reworking is needed. Specifically, bring that guitar down for starters. I think the orchestra needs to be strings need a minor adjustment too, but fixing the guitar might fix those issues. It is fantastic mix though, and is definitely OCReMix quality. Edit: Rozovian's post didn't show up when I posted this. Go with what he said. After those adjustments, let us listen one more time, and it will hopefully be ready for submitting to the judges!
  23. Two quick questions: What sample libraries do you have? And do you have any tips for recreating the sine wave heard in Yellow Valkyrie? I'm working on a Metroid project, and that sine wave could really help out for one or two songs. I own Logic Studio, and will be acquiring a collection of EWQL libraries soon to give you an idea what I have access too.

    Thanks.

P.S. You rock. I LOVE your music, and you're a huge inspiration. Keep up the fantastic work.

  24. It's a very chilled song. Few issues: It's a little repetitive at the moment. Change up the bass line every once in a while, and change up the drums. I realize the drums shouldn't be intense for a mix such as this, but they need to carry some form of energy, and they're just not doing it for me. I'm not sure how to help here, as I have little experience with drums. You also might want to introduce a break of some sort, as the mix is a little short at the moment. You will probably need to get a little creative here, as the source material doesn't change up. The nice thing is, you DO have something to work with: The other versions of the song. Maybe a throwback to the Past version of the song could help spice things up. A very good start, so keep working on it.
