  1. No one here votes for themselves... Right?
  2. Oh yeah, damn, wondered why no one else was really saying anything... >___>
  3. Thanks very much for the comments! And DrumUltimA- thanks a lot! ^w^ Working on your suggestions now actually, good advice. I think I wanna push this to the boundries of liberal but still acceptable (as the source isn't exactly exciting stuff harmonically). Couple of things I wanna point out: That is actually in there, at :26 we get a Bb9+6/C (or something crazy- it's been transposed up 6 semitones) to a FM79+6 (which is really a VII to a IV cadence) but as it's the same interval as I V, I use the source in question because it fits. I think the thing that throws the listener off is the extra "C, E, G G G" section breaking up the source. (It's not those notes but I couldn't think of a way of explaining it). Hrm. Damn it- you're right. I'm in C for the whole thing- wait *counts up six semitones* F. Anyway, thanks for your feedback there, I've done most of your suggested changes/additions now anyway. (Oh, and glad you liked the drums! ^o^) This should be submission ready soon!
  4. Just a lil' update. I'm well aware that this is on the short side, but I've run dry of ways to express the limited source in other ways. Any ideas are very much appriciated. And, yay, thanks very much Acendancy! Glad you liked it! ^w^
  5. I'm sorry but I kinda have to agree. It really needs some work before you can even start putting the lyrics on. I dunno, I don't find them so bad- they sound very J-pop and happy which is cool seeing as the kinda mix you're going for. Sickly sweet and upbeat though, especially with the sound clip! ^__^ What SkyWay didn't pick up on was the presets you used. A lot of that stuff was straight from the "Arp" section of Sitrus which isn't too great. Try playing around with some of them to generate y'own sounds. Keep the lyrics, just focus on improving the mix itself.
  6. Hehe, okay, I've posted quite a few mixes recently- however this is kinda the one I'm in to at the moment. So I'm about half way through and it occoured to me that this might be a bit too liberal... Is it? Basically I've used the Route 1 theme and that Marching/Walking about theme too (y'know where you get taken to the Gym in Pewter City?), however it's been heavily interpreted. Also I'm a bit stuck for ideas, if you've got any please say. So, for source we've got this and this.
  7. Hey, I've never done this before and sounds interesting... Anyone can give this a shot right?
  8. Doesn't matter anymore, accidently saved over the project. I should really really start naming things sensible names so I don't do this again.... But thanks very much for the comments! It was a lil' cheesy huh? Ah well, gone now. TT___TT
  9. Right! You sounded kinda mad- didn't mean to be offensive or anything dude! 1. It's pretty damn neat, you should try it out. 2. Oh right, fair enough. 3. As in, they don't sound real. The drums and piano for instance sound fake. 4. That's fair enough, but you're using synth sounding stuff in your piece anyway. 5. And whoa! Seriously! Double check! Didn't mean that- I was just elaborating on some of your previous criticisms. It doesn't feel thick enough. I'm not so much an electronica fan as anything else y'know, don't assume. You can do what you like, I'm not writing your piece for you, these are suggestions. Yes, I am not a judge- but that doesn't mean I can't give my opinion. Surely this is what you're aiming for so it's part of the critique in itself; a quality barrier if you will. Next time don't take that so harsh, remember you don't HAVE to listen to anyone- and that goes for anyone, don't tell me what I can or can't critique on. Ah, finished. ^__^
  10. Don't wanna sound overly harsh, but most of the samples just sounded MIDI-ish, especially the drums, like standard soundfont stuff- I'm guessing you're using FL so why not play around with Sitrus a bit and see what y'get? Also I'd advise messing around with the "Love Filter" as well- awesome stuff. Reverb on the drums would be nice, how about a bit of distortion too? 'Part from that, nice atmosphere- definitely suits the part. I think if you submitted now you wouldn't get accepted- and you wanna make it a surefire YES. It's the soundfonts and soundscape really... How about some sweeping pads to fill the thing out too? ^___^ We need more prime mixes after all. As for a name... Hrmmmm... No idea, I'll edit if I think of anything! Good luck!
  11. Really? I thought it was glaringly obvious (in the BEST kind of way! ^o^)
  12. Agreed. It would be awesome to have a thicker soundscape further on- maybe filling out with strings or something coupled with a louder, more progressed, rhythm on the drums. Also you should do an epic drum fill into the new section. This would be cool with a kind of metal style guitar 'chugging' rhythm thoughout. I know you've kinda done that already but rather than have it in bursts, have it constant (not overpowering though). Oh! And a thick, church organ sound might go well too. Basically this could get on the repetitive side real easy, you need some more variation. Hope my ideas are of any use, looking forward to see what you do!
  13. Freakin' awesome stuff, liking the liberal bits a lot. We need more chiptune!!
  14. Don't say such things! You'll put Nintendo out of business!
  15. Pretty awesome. Like the start and the breakdown at 1:50 was sweet, however I really think there should be more "power" when the song starts to build back up again. It kinda needed it. Liked the ending a lot until it just cut out- you build up to something with the stabs at 3:35 but then just lose all that energy that was built up by the synth lead. Even adding in a final hit and chord would just give it that finishing edge. Overall pretty enjoyable, well I liked it anyway. ^__^
  16. Yeah, exactly what I was thinking. It just has that quality to the main tune 'n' chords.
  17. Y'know in a way I agree with that. While competitive battle has been fun- and very rewarding if you know a group of people who do the same- I sorta miss the days when you cared only about the "single-player" experience. G/S/C were my favorite for that; I remember playing intently, not to raise the EVs of said poké or even planning a specific moveset, but to get all the badges, raise your favorite team and explore Johto/Kanto. While I guess I'm just being overly nostalgic and I'm older now and all that, I just found the new games to have very little awe and adventure to them. *shrugs* Dunno, just hoping that the remakes are as good as I found the originals as a kid...
  18. It's intentional, like I said before, the samples are all SNES and NES samples- hence the experimentation of the piece. It's not that it clips, it's the quality of the SNES. ^^ EDIT- Sorry, I should've really explained that from the start. I guess to someone who doesn't recognise the instruments from the SNES games it just sounds poor quality!
  19. Yeah, the reason it was experimental was because all the samples are from Mario games (bar the organ- hah punny). Also, thought I'd just add that the underground theme is playing all the time in the bass- albeit a loosely interpreted one. ^^
  20. Okay, basically this was just an experiment however I guess I've kinda grown attached to it now... Anyway, completely stuck with where to go next and whether or not it's actually worth perusing further (once you've listened to a piece enough it just sounds right, which is damn annoying). No point in putting any source: Here it is. EDIT- Oh yeah, it's not actually finished, it loops- that was just so it didn't cut off abruptly. It's not meant to end there just in case you were wondering.
  21. On another note, anyone here play the metagame much? I dunno, I find myself rushing through the story mode so I can just create a perfect team and battle. Making more Pokémon games with a story just seems a lil' pointless in some ways.
