OC ReMix Joins SquareSound for Uematsu Arrangement Competition!
djpretzel replied to djpretzel's topic in Announcements
You go! If you hear anything that sounds like it'd be great for OCR, take a mental note Good luck to everyone, but special wishes (OMG OCR BIAS) to da OC ReMixer entrants! -
Above user was prefixing links to videos with anonym.to URL anonymizer... for some reason... which messed up video embedding. I'll look into it, but... don't do that.

OverClocked ReMix Design ?'s and Issues
djpretzel replied to Liontamer's topic in Site Issues & Feedback
I changed my mind. Thanks to AnSo, this is now implemented - you can toggle between a mixer's main profile and their forum profile using tabs. Useful. It's likely the code to achieve the same thing in 3.7 is identical, so I figured I'd go ahead with it. -

It doesn't come with the plugin, so no. I'll request that as a feature for the plugin, but that's up to the author. If tons of people hate it, I'll just disable it; otherwise, Greasemonkey, etc. could probably be used to disable it - it's pure Javascript, AFAIK. -
OverClocked ReMix Design ?'s and Issues

Embedded video parsing has been added to the forums. We realize this is something that may be abused (and WILL be heavily moderated for abuse!), but the considerable pros outweigh the potential cons. Please report any issues here. -
Awesome. Any updates on that interview? Glad to know the OCR hoodie's insulary qualities are up-to-snuff for Troy...

Thanks - every little bit counts! The more people we can get using our amazon store, the better. I plan to talk about site costs in the State of the ReMix, so everyone can get an idea of just what's involved - using our store really will help!

OverClocked ReMix Design ?'s and Issues
djpretzel replied to Liontamer's topic in Site Issues & Feedback
I'm still trying to figure out how to access individual profile fields from within the user profile template in vB... Hate to sound like a broken record, but they changed forum profiles A LOT in 3.7, so customizing it now would mean having to redo it soon. 3.7 Beta 4 was released recently, though... they're getting close, and once we've upgraded, this is DEFINITELY on my list... -
Not bad at all. Stage 1 is my fav too; reminds me of the Socket soundtrack, in a good way.

Wow... really brief, but... it's there. I'm far less annoyed at lack of credit than I am impressed that anyone noticed - good ears!

Wow, Larry's on a thread-resurrection crusade lately January has been hell. Early February should be doable, and I HAVE been thinking about themes quite a bit...

I've spent some time redesigning our store and incorporating it more with Amazon. You can take a look here: http://www.ocremix.org/store/ The new layout and organization highlight certain items at Amazon that we either believe are excellent tools for ReMixing, or that we think just plain rock. You can also search the entirety of Amazon using our interface, and each time you buy through Amazon via our store, you help pay for our bandwidth/hosting costs. Our ads have decreased lately, bringing in less than enough to cover the costs of hosting the site, so we appreciate all the help we can get. I also redesigned the gateway links to eStarland for buying OC ReMix shirts and hoodies - it should be more intuitive now, with direct links to sizes that shouldn't present intermittent empty search result pages like we saw previously. We'll be restocking on hoodies soon, so be on the lookout! Thanks, djp

Playing against the computer is totally different from playing against a real person, because once you find weaknesses in the AI, they're consistent, whereas a real person would (hopefully) adapt, rather quickly in most cases. I haven't played MAX as much as I've played the PS2 anthology, DC, and PSX ports, but in general, SFA AI is very bad at getting up from being knocked down. There's a window between when they recover and stand-up where you can almost always fake them out, delay just a bit, and catch them with an uppercut or myriad other moves. Also key to the game, and most SF games in general, is the concept of air superiority and timing; weak moves might suck, but if they've got air superiority, that's better than nothing, etc. Basics like that should be good enough to take down the AI, once you get a handle on them. Real people are another story...

I don't know what you're complaining about, personally - that's EIGHT times the memory of a C64 you've got sitting there... the world is your oyster! Oh, you fixed it... Well, that machine is still solid enough to play MP3s, making it a candidate for an audio-only media center... plus it should play MAME and stuff, so as an oversized portable gaming machine, not too shabby... You CAN do things like VST system link, FX teleport, etc. to add extra machines to a VST setup and distribute load, but... complicating one's environment tends to kill workflow.

Thanks Corey; we had a blast - everyone was very chill, and the whole atmosphere was enthusiastic and full of awesomes. Hope the hoodie still keeps you warm, given its girth

Not much, considering few modern x86 OSs will boot to 80s era RAM specs OverClocked ReMix Folding@Home! Linux boxen? Learn Ubuntu? FILL WIT EMUS AND ROMZ! You could PROBABLY put Buzz on there and it would run, or a much earlier copy of FruityLoops, or perhaps Tracktion, which is supposedly pretty optimized. Then you could write a tutorial for us on mixing using low-spec machines, or OSS, etc., and become hero to thousands...

Everything makes me feel old

This has been up for awhile; I actually think I'm eventually gonna move my own blog off my homepage and here to OCR, so we'll probably be going ahead with this, FYI... ...BUT I'm going to wait until we've safely upgraded and templated vBulletin 3.7; there are enough changes, specifically to the interface, that I want to handle them and get us set on 3.7 before adding anything new (like the blogs).
