  1. Looks like you only chime in on votes regarding projects you managed these days...
  2. Here is the link to the song: Sorry I haven't submitted any songs in a while. I've been busy in the mix of developing my music career since I've graduated. I went to Japan for a month and have been building my portfolio, trying to find a decent job. As far as this song goes, it's a jazzy twist to a few of the Super Metroid tracks. It was done on a Yamaha motif 6, that I received as a graduation present. I hope you enjoy the song. Please let me know if there are any problems like before in getting the song. Thanks and have a happy holiday. Marc Star

  4. I'm going to actually move this to the judges decisions forum and associate it with the mix, even though it was a DP, really, as the comments provided are insightful and explain the lack of source material we had to compare with, etc.
  5. Hey there, Pretzel. Hopefully the third submission gets through. Try, try, try again, right? Well, here goes: DJ Name: Toxic Soul Forum Username: Toxic Soul My Name: Kevin White Website: N/A Userid: I tried to find this, and couldn't. Song Remixed: Chrono Trigger Battle Theme by Yasunori Mitsuda Song Title & URL: Breaking Point OC Remix Comments: I felt this was an improvement from previous works, and I love the sound of a choir. Mixed with slightly jazzy breaks and the muted trumpet, I think this is a fairly good mix, and carries a lot of originality. I enjoyed the double bass and "mission" feel to it. Thanks for taking a listen, and I look forward ot feedback. Also, the IDv3 tags are a little messed up, so if you could fix those, that'd be funtastic. -Kevin

  7. Hello! As the subject line implies, I have a little something for you to listen to. Not sure what to say, really. This is the first song I've ever finished that I have been more than satisfied with. First, my info... Real name: Lynn Soboleski Member name: MakoServitor My Site: http://www.deviantsun.com Now for a bit of song info. I've always been a big fan of FF7, and judging by the number of remixes done, so are a ton of other people. This first contribution to the remix gene pool is intended as a sort of alternate opening theme for the game; more specifically, based on the very first musical sentence you hear upon first turning on the console. That little tinkling "oh man, here we go." I attempted to give those first chilling measures their own tribute, which then fades into a few bits from the opening theme itself, then finally to Aeris' theme -- but only at the very end. I'll shut up now, as the music will speak for itself from here on out. Thanks for listening! -L
  8. Greetings, djpretzel! Remixer CountCurt here. I do a bit of arranging/remixing here and there, but I haven't posted anything up on OC, so I'm new. Here's a little something I cooked up for myself that I thought the community might like. I was playing the new Zelda: The Minish Cap for the GBA recently and the Minish Festival song from the beginning of the game really caught my ear. I'm a fan of Renaissance music and this song really captured that feel. I decided not to stray too far from the original and used instrumentation to mimick that of the Renaissance: guitar, oboe, bassoon, pan flute, cello, bass, and tambourine. I added in the cheer samples for fun as I thought of what it might have been like to be at a Renaissance festival listening to live minstrels perform. It's a fun, short, straightforward piece and I hope you like it. The link to download the song is found at Take care and God bless! Curt

The melody's played out on a slightly muffled guitar(intentional) and accompanied by what was originally a piano. But I've since changed the right hand part to pizzicato strings and the left hand to a dual track of harp + woodblock. The whole thing was arranged in Finale 2004, midi-exported then re-imported into FL, soundfonts applied, velocities adjusted, reverb & eq applied, etc. All in all this is about 5 months of on-and-off work, this being version 344 that I've finally decided to get off the fence and submit. After exporting from FL a little post-processing was done in Cool Edit.

  12. Personally, I love it, but can we get the original just for due diligence? Michael - got a link? Also, I'd love to hear more about the samples and where they came from... - djp Hey djp- got a new mix for you. It's from a somewhat obscure PC game by Sierra called Shivers. It's a really simple little melody, but this was one of my favorite games growing up so I thought I'd try to do something with it. If it does happen to get posted- there I few changes to my profile: I no longer have a website and my email address is now mdover006@yahoo.com Thanks, Michael -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? 13. Hey there ! Name : Christian Pacaud Email : cpacaud@saintstudios.com Website: http://www.soundclick.com/christianpacaud Game: Final Fantasy 6 (again) Songs Remixed: New Continent / The Fierce Battle / Catastrophe / Dancing Mad Comments from VGMix : I've been working hard on this arrangement for the past month now. This is quite different than my first remix, a solo piano arrangement of Celes' Theme, also from FF6. Quite simply, it's just another facet of my musical interests, which is the heavy metal / progressive side... So, for those looking for screaming guitars and double bass, you've found the right remix ! I can't remember exactly how I came about starting to work on this. I just remember liking very much the themes from the flying continent part of FF6 and somehow I heard them recently and thought "New Continent" was screaming for a metal remix, and here it is. Actually, this is a melting pot of a number of themes from that part. I'll do a small breakdown for those too lazy to lookup for the references in the song. 0:00 to 1:04 - Obviously this is "New Continent", almost note for note. 1:04 to 1:47 - This is an extrapolation of the second, more syncopated half of "New Continent". 1:47 to 1:57 - The guitar riff and hits are inspired from the end of "New Continent". 1:57 to 2:16 - Now here it gets interesting... The guitar riff is inspired from the first half of "New Continent" and the lead is a somewhat transformed version of the first bars of the melody from "Catastrophe". 2:16 to 2:26 - This is taken from "Catastrophe"... This is one of the main musical themes from the game. The harmonization is slightly different though. 2:26 to 2:37 - Ha. This is completely out of context, taken from "Dancing Mad", but I thought it fitted so well that I put it anyway. 2:37 to 3:04 - This one might've been hard to hear. The guitar riff is actually the first few notes from "The Fierce Battle"'s melody (at 0:27 to be exact). Note that the guitar solo kicks major butt ! 3:04 to 3:14 - The solo's backing is inspired from the second half of "New Continent", or actually, from the 1:04 to 1:47 part, which is inspired from it This is getting complicated, sorry ! And most of the material from after the solo are repeated sections from earlier in the remix, with some new stuff added, especially at the end for a last nod to "Catastrophe". If you actually listened to the song up to here, congrats for being able to stand my horrible amateur guitar playing ! --- So, thanks to everyone who gave me precious feedback, positive or negative ! Maybe I didn't follow all of your suggestions, but every single one of them helped me. Also, sorry for everyone who posted feedback on the WIP, I had to delete it because the description wasn't up to date anymore. Oh, AND BIG BIG THANKS TO MARC-ANDRÉ GINGRAS FOR THE INCREDIBLE GUITAR SOLO (you'll know which one I'm talking about) !!! I'm sure it'll be the only thing people will remember from this song ! 14. Nov. 8. 2004 Hey OC Remix, djpretzel, and judges: Alright, here we go again… Here’s my second submission (after the doomed to crash-and-burn “blazin’ island” mix… I choose to forget that one). I was going to wait a while to submit this one, but after the comments I’ve received, I feel this piece is as ready as it’ll ever be. URL: Copy and Paste the URL if you receive errors… sorry for the inconvenience! Contact Info ReMixer name: JefF Real name: Jeffrey Roberts Email Address: userid on the forums: 10963 (jeffreymroberts) ReMix Info Name of game ReMixed: Zelda: Link’s Awakening Name of individual song(s) ReMixed: “Face Shrine” (31/96 & 88/96 in GBS), “Ballad of the Windfish” (47/96), “Richard’s Villa (64/96) Okay then, time for me to get into the spiel about how I made this mix… It was a boring day… I was home from school with a major ear ache and chest infection… I was bored… I broke out my GBA and started playing Zelda Link’s Awakening… I was bored… After I got about halfway through the game, I heard the song from the “Face Shrine” dungeon… I suddenly was not bored… despite the major earache, I went to my good old Yamaha PSR 290 and umm, diddled around. The birth of this mix! Fast Forward a few days, and the majority of this mix was complete. After several additions, I posted the first WIP in the WIP forum. I was pleasantly surprised: the mix born of boredom was actually liked! Thanks to suggestions from various people, the mix improved, went through 7 or so very similar WIPs, which leads to this version…. I was going for a dreamy feel (to match the game), hence the use of the wind sample, high reverb levels, etc. Also, In my opinion, this mix sounds great on Dolby Pro-Logic or similar surround systems (despite the MP3 side-effects), so if you have access to such a system, you may want to try it out! Well, hope you like it! -Jeff PS> If you have any problems with the URL or downloading of the file, feel free to contact me using the above email address or this one: (remove address upon posting at Judge’s Decisions if you don’t mind!) I recall people having problems at first trying to download from Tripod.
  15. ReMixer name: Darangen Real Name: Michael Boyd email: darangen@hotmail.com Name of game: Final Fantasy 6 Name of song: Forsaken World Comments: I like the way this turned out. I'd been humming this tune in my head for the last few days, and I felt the only way to get it out of my head would be to arrange it . This is the theme that plays in the World of Ruin, and in Narshe in the world of ruin. When I used to play the game years ago this tune annoyed me, but after a while it grew on me to become one of my favorite tunes from this game. There are some Metallica - Orion influences in some parts here (mainly the harmonies). It also goes from normal volume to loud-ish, so don't turn your speakers up too loud (You've been warned!) While making this arrangement, my intentions were not to make it balanced out, or perfectly constructed. I was trying to emulate a destroyed world where nothing was in balance. Keep that in mind while listening . But it's ok, I like girls. Enjoy!

  18. Yo djp, Here is a remix I've done of the windfish ballad on LoZ:LA. I submitted it about a year ago, and I never heard about it again after that ... presumably, the website I had it on went down, and I can only imagine that was before you got to it. The 2nd time was a couple months back, but I think I had submitted it too close to another submission. So, here I go again. If this was judged the very first time (which I highly doubt .. I looked and looked) then I apologize. Remixer name: bladiator Real name: Karl Harmdierks email: bladiator@juno.com Game: Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening Song: Windfish Ballad This is the first remix I ever did, on request from a good friend who enjoys the site. He's the reason I first started checking out ocremix, and I at least want to give this a shot. ~Karl
