  1. Been dealing with some insane stress lately. Long story short, I'm leaving NYC early...next week. I drew this so I could have a happy place. Done in one sitting...4 hours straight. :\ Lily in the Wind
  2. Drawing of 6 year old Enzo...being cute of course. Cartoon show inside Ion Valley that Arlo and Enzo like to watch. Introducing Hyperdrive Helix and his sidekick Kitt Kepler! Join them as they travel the galaxy on crazy adventures. LOL
  3. Well, clumsy me accidentally deleted the thread I made from over 2 years ago, well over 11,000 views (thanks guys). I was trying to edit a post and I couldn't delete something, and the "thread delete' button was very close to the editing window...sort of non-descript. I'd at least expect it to ask for confirmation of what I was about to do. Anyway, David Lloyd was kind enough to provide me with the HTML backups of everything over that two years so the pages are below. He said he MIGHT be able to somehow restore the specific thread but no promises. In the meantime, I'll pick up from where I last left off. I really messed up huh? 4. Really digging the energy in the gesture work, plus the style is pretty neat. Really digging that "secret agent cigarette" drawing.
  5. ZOMG MAGFFAARST. Counting the concrete and windows is the best game yet! ;D
  6. I'm not through it yet, but it is wonderful so far. The game almost plays as if you're in a dream state. I'd say it is very reminiscent of Dust: An Elysian Tail, but even pushed further on the graphics spectrum. I will also say there are some SERIOUS challenges in this game at points. It definitely doesn't play happy grab-ass with you.
  7. I assure you....4chan has you beat.
  8. I think it's sounding great! It definitely has that American Beauty / Road to Perdition Newman feel. The piano, synth, and marimba parts are lovely. Some things I would recommend is to rethink the snare drum. It really throws the beginning with the tinny sound and is a stark contrast to the smooth tones and melodies. It doesn't really fit. It could also be your samples. Try finding some heavier thicker snares, or try concert or taiko drums if you have them, otherwise leave it out in those spots. Composition and orchestration wise, it definitely has some great promise, and there are some great moments in the piece. The samples unfortunately are hurting a bit of your expressiveness (primarily strings and brass), so I'd recommend investing in some better libraries in the future. Soundsonline.com is always running insane package deals on their orchestra libraries, especially during holidays. If you want some Thomas Newman goodness, pick up LASS Strings (the lite version is totally fine). They are some of the warmest and richest strings in any sample library. Just listen to the demos http://audiobro.com/demos/music/. There's also the newer Cinestrings Core (cheaper version) you can pickup which I hear is also excellent. http://cinesamples.com/product/cinestrings-core. Also their Cinebrass (actually ALL their libraries) are some of the best in the business. As a side note, I'd recommend pushing the bottom end a little more with your bass strings. Newman's signature sound is very full bodied and warm. You're getting close though. Keep it up!
  9. Haha this is really cool! It looks like a lot of work went into it. Keep it up!
  10. Phillip Merriman on classical guitar for FFX Zanarkand in the studio. Just in time for the Remastered release. Enjoy!
  11. I'm actually digging your artwork. Your newer stuff seems to not quite be anime which is refreshing. It appears you're falling into your own style, which I like. Character design, line art, and coloring are all pretty well done. Keep it up!
  12. djpretzel is definitely the big guy to hit up.
  13. Oh come on. It tours all over the country. Isn't a place near you listed on their website?
  14. Anyone in the NYC area thinking about attending the Zelda Symphony at Madison Square Garden tomorrow can get tickets half price off. Here's the link ya'll. https://www.livingsocial.com/events/cities/3-nyc-midtown/909249-legend-of-zelda-symphony-of-the-goddesses-at-msg?msdc_id=231-nyc-downtown
  15. I've never felt so passionate and assertive on choosing a product. The Xbox One is such a turn off. Back to Sony it is.
  16. I think the real problem is Nintendo's inability to market correctly. I think they're losing touch with a western audience, and continue to be the cranky grandpa that's "doing the thing that's always seemed to work." Well, the world has changed, and you can't keep doing this low investment / high profit margin anymore. People are holding their money tighter, and the reason people aren't getting a Wii U, is the same reason people don't buy as many point n shoot cameras. We have "all-in-one" devices, smartphones, tablets, etc. The other problem is Nintendo's kid audience from the 80's and 90's grew up. Apparently the company didn't. The main thing really driving Nintendo is the loyal fanbase, the fanboys, and moms buying the "cheaper kid system" for their young kids. I haven't seen a true hardcore market for Nintendo since the 64, and I truly mean that. Nintendo needs to get their act together. They are bold and innovative, yes, and are also my childhood nostalgia. It's just their marketing decisions that suck.
  17. I think the only thing I'm disappointed about from the conference is that the new xbox doesn't make toast.
  18. Watching the tech market, and essentially working in it for years, I must wholeheartedly agree with Zircon on all his points. I am however surprised a bit that MS jumped on the Blu-ray bandwagon, paying out all those license fees for what is pretty much a dying medium. But then again, I suppose we still need the physical market and 50GB discs for the increasingly massive games. Perhaps by the next generation, Google Fiber will have kicked the US into a new era of high speed internet, where the cloud is endless, and the speed is limitless. Aside from that, regarding games (PS4 and One), for anyone doubting, I believe we're just seeing a rehash of the launch days of 360 and PS3. Remember Perfect Dark Zero? Now look at Watch Dogs, Forza 4, etc. Right now, gaming companies are adapting current tech and engines in infancy to high specs, maxing them out for launch games. I think "next gen" for these consoles will start spreading its wings when we see the first Unreal Engine 4 game, and perhaps Frostbite 4 (post BF4).

  20. Young urban professional here in NYC....as the kids would say it. LOL It's kind of funny, because everyone I work with is not married or has any kids, and we're all in our late 20's. Maybe cities do that to you. So weird I saw this thread. Hey Jesse, I literally just got done yesterday working on a project with Dan and Brian (Elmo) with their SaikoLED stuff. TEP LIVES ON!
  21. First game arrangement/remix stuff I've done in a long time. Strings only for now. Fun stuff. https://soundcloud.com/jared-hudson/zanarkand-orchestra-wip
