OverCoat 2: More Stories from the Megatropolis released!
liquid wind replied to OverCoat's topic in General Discussion
on my second listen now, I like this a lot more than the first cyberpunk adventure EP, good shit -
zelda looked pretty disappointing but HOLY SHIT DKC4 haven't been this hyped for a game since metroid prime, about time nintendo took this franchise out of the gutter epic mickey and kirby yarn also look good, I love yarn's art style
-
they got rid of faulconer's music? **** I had been interested in this before! :/
-
I'd probably be among this group too if I weren't diiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiirt poor atm, don't really like the direction FL has been going in and I always enjoyed using modplug and psycle, just too inconvenient the way modplug handles plugins and psycle is underdeveloped. I'd also highly recommend renoise based just on messing around with the demo
-
noooo I slept in D: oh well, I'll try to actually vote this week lol
-
people have gotten posted on this site using impulse tracker and modplug, AFAIK madtracker is a lot more modern than either of those so it shouldn't be a problem as far as tools go
-
if that's the only difference then it should be good. just hoping it doesn't do some foolish all touch controls like phantom hourglass/spirit tracks...spirit tracks could have been so good ugh
-
have to agree with this, I tend to dislike games that over emphasize DS or wii controls and I'm hoping this doesn't take that route. I LOVE okami but I'm not really expecting this to be as good

liquid wind replied to Bahamut's topic in Album Reviews & Comments
I've had the whole album on loop for the past couple days, GOOD SHIT EVERYONE should put up lyrics for the vocal songs on the project site IMO -
DKC2: Serious Monkey Business Listening is finished!

DKC2 is IMO the best platformer game ever, there are no adjectives that properly describe how good it is -

hyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyype -
so apparently these were deleted, anyone know of a free filehost that doesn't suck? I could upload all the individual files to my tindeck if nothing else... edit: trying sendspace now, original post updated with new links
-
thanks, that's pretty much what I was going for with that, sleepy/meditative type stuff
-
some of this is from like 3 years ago so quality varies... http://www.oraclechallenge.com/b8compo/liquid/the%20edge%20of%20okeanos.zip

although I don't buy into how accurate this may be, I'd really like to see another zelda in not-hyrule and maybe even a return to termina. I think MM had my favorite world in the series, I'd def like to see zelda explore that kind of territory again
-
yeah, given delays this is actually right on schedule although if you'll remember MM was made pretty quickly because it reused the engine, it's not impossible
-
you should look into renoise/other trackers, very good for pattern based programmed music
-
meh @ FFA, I was too rushed too and my entry was really incomplete, spent a little time this morning working on it after I got home http://www.tindeck.com/listen/wspi not as bad as I expected for how little I ever try anything like this, have to go back to metroidcore next time though
-
The track list makes no sense, no hive totem, thardus, tallon overworld 2, prime credits, torvus bog, dark samus, chyyka, bryyo...probably a few others I'm missing, yet tracks like phazon mines which is just the series' main motif and some percussive effects, or the riff that plays when you beat meta ridley are included?

Aside from these obvious things, you can't even sign up at VGMixX as of now, it shouldn't be brought into this discussion at all.

Besides this from the engineers I've heard from they seem to know better and simply over compress it because they are told to, doing the right thing doesn't pay the bills and if a label wants their music to look like a brick they can get someone else to do it anyway. That being said I think how loud is loud enough is entirely dependent on what kind of music is being made, some of it does sound better heavily compressed, some of it would be better not being compressed at all. But the music industries "louder louder louder!" tunnel vision is definitely negative, and completely retarded...if we wanted it louder we could just...adjust the volume.

no, lots of close ones though, end of MGS3, false end of ICO, cele's in FFVI, a lot of credits especially in zelda games, it makes me sad when the game ends and they always have great music. I'm kind of strange, I get emotional very easily but rarely cry I agree with a lot of what taucer said. the game soundtrack always has a large impact on me and I think that, aside from production making strong melodies less essential, it's even more marginalized by voice acting much of the time. I remember reading something once where it was said that they actually try to make it less of a focal point because of voice acting :/
