  1. Bucking the trend of last minute scheduling, we have finalized our match to be on Sunday, December 5th at 9 PM EST. I'll schedule it in the Steam group. On an unrelated note, Chili's birthday is the day before, on Saturday. EDIT: Something we did for the first few matches and have since neglected is doing a walkthrough of the map and discussing strategy. Should we attempt to do this again?
  2. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Lumpy for engaging in dialogue with the other team when I've been preoccupied with the Thanksgiving holiday. Thanks. Lazytown would like to play the match between Thursday December 2nd and Sunday December 5th. My only concern is that it may be past the date where everyone's supposed to have finished their matches, but assuming the league doesn't mind I'm okay with it. What about you guys?
  3. Yes, I adore the Saharan set. The extra flicker time is murder though. Good thing the DR doesn't flicker to begin with. Also I can't use it for the tournament anyway. Sadface. For time, I'm thinking of proposing Saturday night, 9 PM EST or so. Y/N?
  4. With that in mind, it sounds like Gaunt will need to be extra mindful of the Spy. If it gets too out of hand, our Pyro may need to guard the nest with him, preferably with the Homewrecker. Depending on the map, the best Sentry location may be one that prevents the Scout from flanking our main front if a nest isn't needed at the front lines. (I'm thinking BLU on Steel here. A is the easiest flanking route ever since no one bothers to go there once it's capped.) Meanwhile, our own Spy would need to focus on the Sniper to keep him down, or at least distracted and paranoid. I'd bet money that he's Spy savvy and can pick out the decloak, but he'll need to scope eventually, which leaves him open to otherwise blatant flanks without the need for cloak. Then there's the Ambassador. On a related note, I'll laugh so hard if he turns out to use the Razorback. I heard through the grapevine that their Heavy isn't terribly brilliant, which I suppose is one less thing to worry about.
  5. That's fine, I'm already the team secretary anyway. EDIT: Also, the Lazytown Sniper is apparently really good. Lumpy will need to be on top of his game, likely.
  6. Possibly, depends if we can all get together. IIRC we've covered Badwater before, so that should be relatively short (or nonexistent), leaving us to focus on Steel and maybe Viaduct if we want to. Gaunt's been the one to get them organized in the group phase.
  7. Our next Highlander match is coming up, big duh, and I doubt any of us want to play on Thanksgiving day. Or the day after, likely. Or maybe you do, I don't know. My point is, what days and times work for you Highlander folks this weekend?
  8. Yeah, the scheduling turned into a total clusterfuck and I sincerely apologize for my numerous fails in that regard. Hopefully the next one won't be so bad since we'll all be in the US. Speaking of which, our next opponents are the Lazytown Regulars, aka the team that beat OCAD and the Immaculate Breasts. Any insights from that group?
  9. Ask Chili, I know I don't. All of my videos are Spy gameplay. (Shameless plug.)
  10. Good news everyone! I invented a machine that makes you hear the rest of this message in my voice! In all seriousness, we won the round overall. We won Upward, lost Gravelpit, and won a 9v9 Heavy Fist Fight to have the tiebreaker at our own server, where we won Viaduct. Scores and screenshots have been uploaded to the league site. Good games, everyone.
  11. So I just got back from a lovely conversation with the opposition leader, quoted below. Thoughts?(Stay tuned, further developments are possibly underway.)
  12. Yeah, my ability to write carefully worded walls of text is a minor point of pride for me. I just need to be in the mood and have a reason for it. TBH, from the conversation I had with Ota in Steam chat, I got the distinct impression that it wasn't just inconvenient, it was flat out impossible. Granted, two of their team members are going to be participating in an unrelated match at 10:00 their time (so an hour and a half prior), including Ota himself, but I'm not sure if that's enough to explain all of their reluctance away. I do hope that we get to actually play, but I'm not getting my hopes up.
  13. Okay, point taken. Forget what I said about rescheduling the match. My apologies for acting rashly. Regarding the server, how should we handle that? Something tells me it's not kosher to just show up at some random server they don't know about and go "lol you didn't show." EDIT: Okay, here's the skinny. Let's congregate on our own server (206.217.135.94:27015, password = ocrscrim) 15 minutes prior to the match time. (That's 8:15 PM EST.) Although I haven't been able to talk to the other team directly regarding the starting server, this should allow us plenty of time to get together so we can more easily move to their server en masse if that ends up being how they want it. To be honest, I'm expecting a forfeit win, but we still need to have enough of us show up at the designated time at an agreed upon location and document that we were there and they weren't. God, this is such a clusterfuck... D:
  14. But can they prove we agreed to it? </lawyer> I was actually unaware of that, although it makes sense in retrospect.
  15. I know it's absurdly short notice, but the other team flat out can't make the default time we were given. Even though it's only 11:30 their time. I find that odd, but whatever. It was either that or no match at all as far as I can tell.
  16. After talking with the other team for the Highlander match, they're asking if we can make a 5:00 PM Eastern match time. Date's still Sunday. Yes/no? Also they're checking if some people they know in Portugal can let us use a server there. EDIT: Due to the time crunch and no one chiming in to say they can't make it, I went ahead and rescheduled the event to 5:00 PM EST.
  17. If you mean the server freezing up for a few seconds, I'm getting that too.
  18. Reminder to Aero: Screenshots of me being ubered?
  19. Note to self: Preorder Poker Night, and while I'm at it get a few keys to open the crates I keep forgetting to trade away. <.<
  20. So I've decided that I'll get Poker Night at the Inventory eventually, if only for that sweet watch, but is the preorder deal still on?
  21. That's what I'm thinking, but I simply don't know of any we could use. =/
  22. Thought you'd already done that. Sort of. I'd expect their own server to have a ping in the same ballpark as the pubs they play on, at least.
  23. On a related note, I don't suppose anyone knows if we're tied to a specific server as part of the default time, or if we still need to figure that out? The Brazil guys suggested either alternating between ours and theirs for the first two matches followed by a virtual coinflip (Heavy fist fight?) to decide for the third if necessary, or finding some European server we'd have relatively equal pings on.
  24. Frogg informed me that he can make it on account of changing his hours so he doesn't work on weekends anymore. I can make it, as usual, although I'd rather not if I can help it on account of school. Um...idk about anyone else.
  25. Er, yes. Calendar fail. Steam event now has the proper date.
