  1. I distinctly recall trying to join a server that made me download navigation meshes, so that can be worked around. (Make a mesh on your own, ensure it actually works, then include it in whatever magical folder you use for this sort of thing.) However, because they're associated with bots, it'll probably give some people pause for thought if they see it in the download queue. True on Viaduct, which makes sense because KOTH as a game mode is nice for a quick tiebreaker due to small size and easy deathmatchability, but...they couldn't spice it up a bit with Nucleus, Sawmill, or Harvest? Really? The rules in question refer to planting stickies underneath the floor of A, where they can apparently be detonated to damage people on the point itself, and building teleporters in RED spawn on top of those computer consoles. Both are banned for the tournament. I expect the achievements use some master server connection back at Valve HQ to prevent just this sort of thing.
  2. According to the Highlander site, they expect to release the playoff schedule and seedings sometime today. (2000 CET? No idea what European time is like.) The first matches then need to be scheduled by Sunday, November 14. Presumably this means the matches are actually played as well, but the news post was rather vague on that point. This would be a good time for the Highlander folks to note when they'll be available over the next week so we can have an easier time of this. Map Schedule: Round of Two Hundred Fifty-Six: 1. Upward 2. Gravelpit 3. Viaduct Round of One Hundred Twenty-Eight: 1. Badwater 2. Steel 3. Viaduct Round of Sixty-Four: 1. Steel 2. Goldrush 3. Viaduct Round of Thirty-Two: 1. Gravelpit 2. Upward 3. Viaduct Round of Sixteen: 1. Steel 2. Goldrush 3. Viaduct Quarter Final: 1. Gravelpit 2. Badwater 3. Viaduct Semi Final: Both teams pick one map, possible Decider Map by Map Elimination Mode Final: Both teams pick one map, possible Decider Map by Map Elimination Mode
  3. Meanwhile I still only have 3 of the masks. On the other hand I do have a spare Mining Light and a Puglist's Protector I'm not terribly attached to. (Hint.) I met you at ScrewAttack, I believe. (BLU Spy ring a bell?) Even if I didn't, I doubt anyone would consider me to not be a regular here.
  4. Maybe I'm just paranoid (spot the pun), but I'm not a fan of trading with some random Joe that I found on a website.
  5. Strange, I thought Upward et al. were still marked custom as recently as the Halloween Event. Meh. And I still only have the Soldier and Pyro masks. It's mostly the Sackston Hale achievement I'm concerned about though. IIRC the Highlander stuff moves forward this Monday. Also NO MY SAHARAN SPY SET. ;_; (Wait, it's only for like an hour and a half and I'll be in class then anyway.)
  6. Does this mean that the older new maps like Upward also show as non-custom?
  7. I'm only really interested in the watch, lol. For obvious reasons. Like I said, trying to decide.
  8. Given that the Lugermorph is among the items, they're probably all reskins. I guess a brand new method of cloaking was too much to ask for. Sadface. Trying to decide if it's worth buying/preordering.
  9. Oh, damn, I forgot about that. Um...later tonight then? Powerlord/FireSlash: Is Nightfall still on the server? If it is, RC1 is out.
  10. Nevermind that the admins are able to do it surreptitiously. However, I've only actually heard it play once. Probably something on my end, but I'm not sure what. Also, I won't be on the server much until Thursday, when my Scheme project is due. Programmers may know what I'm talking about. Yay metacircular interpreters. Only not because they're evil and eat kittens for afternoon tea.
  11. I'm more proud of the reason for the ban I used. I try not to use the stock ones provided, if only because I can't resist being snarky. In unrelated news, Frogg has 99,663 points in HLStats. Second place, Scythe-Messiah, has 57,381. Hands up if you think this is silly.
  12. I haven't heard any music, although that may have something to do with the fact that my TF2 is currently set to not download anything. On the Highlander front, the tiebreaker rounds are starting up soon and are scheduled to finish on Sunday, November 7. The bracket matches will start the next day, on Monday, November 8. Link. EDIT: I assume the password is "ocrscrim" still?
  13. Considering that my own computer enjoys having Critical Existence Failures, I don't exactly have much of a choice.
  14. I have an extra Mining Light... Also the Towering Pillar can't be crafted except for the generic random hat recipe, which makes it somewhat more rare than the class-specific hats, which you can use 4 Refined + Class Token to improve your odds of getting.
  15. Why are the Billycock and Stovepipe low in popularity? o_O
  16. I'll be mad if they do, since the Panama was the first hat I ever got (and promptly crafted away since I hardly ever play Sniper), I have my own Billycock, and my friend has a Stovepipe. (Although he loathes Demoman so I could probably relieve him of it for practically nothing.) But I'd still be missing that Panama.
  17. In that case, my money's on a Thursday update this year. Haven't the major updates historically been on Thursdays for the most part?
  18. Don't forget that all but one of their flagship products has its roots in either fanmade mods (TF2, Counter Strike if memory serves), student projects (Portal) or ideas bought from another company (L4D...maybe? [citation needed]). Only Half Life was made in-studio from scratch. So Valve has a long history of being very willing to implement the ideas of others and general acceptance towards the modding community. Hell, look at Garry's Mod.
  19. It probably wore off in midair then, since Uber/Bonk blocks all damage except certain environmental hazards, like the train. Knockback still works perfectly fine though. Although considering Bonk blocks afterburn from a flamethrower but not from a Flare Gun, it may be yet another weird bug. Meh. EDIT: After some deliberation, I decided to craft together my Old Guadalajara and Napper's Respite, since both are pretty dirt common. Got a duplicate Mining Light. I swear the crafting system hates me sometimes.
  20. List of healing candidates is truth. That is all.
  21. I heard that the contributors got a 25% cut, so that means Valve made (40k * 4) * (3/4) = (40k * 3) = 120k per contributor, minimum. Just on the Polycount items alone, they've made at least 600k. More if you take into account that the highest paid contributor got 47k. (The lowest was 39k, which I rounded up for easier math in the above calculations.) So yeah, Valve is officially rolling in money.
