That's a good idea, Ash. I'll have to consider purchasing one if finances allow it. Anyway, I apologise for those who can't make it, but hopefully those who will be going won't be too shy to drop a message here!
-
I'm sorry it was like that.... Well, I don't recall any free games last year; but then again, I wasn't looking for any... How I'm attending is because I live about 60 miles from the event and I have a degree in game design.
-
It was a dream of mine when I was younger, too. I'm sorry. It wasn't my intention to leave anyone out. I understand that only those in the game industry (or connected to it) can attend, but I'm sure those from here who can go would find it cool to meet others from OCR.

We all have exhibits we want to visit during our stay at the expo, but it would be cool to have a chance to meet others in the game industry who are also part of the OverClocked ReMix commmunity. Meeting a particular booth or place of interest could be the most reliable approach. Most likely, not everyone would be able to meet at the same time, so perhaps methods of contact would be practical. If you own the new 3DS, this could be a nice opportunity to get some StreetPasses or play a multiplayer game when needing a break from all the running around from booth to booth for the new products. So what do you think? (People call me Peach in the OCR community and in many other places, but I'll be going to E3 as Mathew Kirkegaard. Feel free to say hi if you see me!)

Does ProtoDome still need help? If there's something that I can do to help the process along, let me know.

So many remixers have created fantastic tracks for this project. Congratulations to those who have completed theirs so far! I just hope that my remix can be even half as good as some of the brilliance I've heard in this album. I uploaded a preview of "Cranky's Mojo" (a remix of Cranky's Dojo) to my YouTube channel, so if anyone is interested in listening to it, just click on the link below!

Thanks so much for the support, Emunator! It's been a wild ride. But hey, we're not done yet! Good luck to everyone here!
-
It's a pleasure, ProtoDome. Hey, are you Prot in the chatroom, or is that another user?

How would ye feel about an IRC channel servermove?
Peach replied to Draconiator's topic in General Discussion
Moving could be a good idea. It seems that the number of those unable to join #OCReMix is gradually increasing. If enough people approve of the notion, this would have to be proposed to djpretzel. -
Woo hoo! Thanks for officialising me as the remixer for Cranky's Dojo (GBA), Emunator. I'll do my best! ^.^
-
Great preview, Emunator. There are some remixes, such as "Chasing Waterfalls," that really caught my attention. Beautiful.
-
Great project concept. I look forward to helping you cover one of the dropped tracks, Emunator, as we discussed. ^.^

Zelda'esque - "Genesis of Zarkaine Kingdom" OFFICIAL RELEASE
Peach replied to Peach's topic in Post Your Original Music!
Thank you all so much! I didn't realise I had replies until just now. It was a slow day when I posted this topic. There will be more Zelda-related songs, since I am composing a soundtrack. This is just a bonus track. -
Inspiration for this composition came from The Wind Waker, Ocarina of Time, and Twilight Princess from the Zelda game series. Originally, this song was going to be part of the soundtrack for The Legend of Zelda role-playing sim in Second Life, namely the main overworld theme. However, plans have changed for the sim's setting from an original kingdom to future Termina. The kingdom name "Zarkaine" originates from the fictitious Zelda: Oracle of Secrets Poster project I developed years ago for school. This is my first song played on piano and refined in MIDI; so please, be gentle! http://www.HarmonyOfArts.com/original-music/Zeldaesque.mp3 http://www.designerpeach.com/original-music/Zeldaesque.mp3 Alternately, you can view the YouTube video with additional commentary at: Many thanks go to those from this forum and beyond for helping improve the sound quality of this piece.

Original Zelda-Inspired Composition WIP: "Zelda'esque"
Peach replied to Peach's topic in Post Your Original Music!
I present you the official release of Zelda'esque! The song is also called "Genesis of Zarkaine Kingdom," based on the fictitious Zelda: Oracle of Secrets Poster project I developed years ago for school. You can listen to the refined composition below. http://www.designerpeach.com/original-music/Zeldaesque.mp3 http://www.HarmonyOfArts.com/original-music/Zeldaesque.mp3 Many thanks go to those from this thread and beyond for helping improve the sound quality of this piece. -
MacGyver? Ah, I didn't spot the theme when I listened. I used to watch that show long ago. Well, you always have the option to prepare an alternate piece. I understand that the work is raw. My current WIP is still pretty raw, too. It'll be a challenge to refine such a long composition, huh? Good luck! ^.^

Lacuna Coil - Closer (Cover Song)
Peach replied to James_The_Composer's topic in Post Your Original Music!
It's interesting how using distortion can create some interesting "illusions." Not bad, although using some controllers may be in order for refinement. I don't know the limits of the application you're using. Hey, I don't mean to be in appropriate by asking this, but did you receive my private message(s)? I never received a response, so I'm not sure. -
Familiar songs from Castlevania, Sonic, and even TMNT make cameo appearences in this fun piece.... I really enjoyed listening to this. The guitar work is good, but some of your samples are either low quality or require refinement (such as expression). You say this is not appropriate for OCReMix, but why? The classic TMNT theme song is in some of the video games. Are you implying that there are some other tunes that I don't recognise? Either way, many crossover ReMixes are valid. After refining this work, I suggest considering it for OCReMix. If any parts are inappropriate, create an alternate piece with omissions and look into submitting this cool remix.

Mystery and intrigue are words that come to mind when listening to this piece. I'd say that it's most appropriate for a movie scene that tells a story through visuals or as accompaniment for a radio broadcast tale. It has mostly a background feeling, so I suggest that such style be used in a complementary fashion with other forms of art, not alone. Other than that, this ambient song sounds professional for its implicative purpose. Good job.

Well done! Stickerbrush Symphony is a very familiar song to me since the release of Donkey Kong Country 2. There is a great feel once the snare starts. While you have a lot of original melody in the song, you maintain a lot of the arpeggios from the source tune, at least for the first half of the song. The latter half is also great, and tells a different story, so to speak. Shades (In the Rain) has quite a nice melancholy feel. Unfortunately, I have never heard the original song...until just now. You really brought the 8-bit chiptune to life. Good job.

Original composition inspired on Final Fantasy games and Zelda
Peach replied to Musiccat's topic in Post Your Original Music!
Of the Zelda games, this probably feels most like something that would belong in Twilight Princess. It has a pretty solid orchestral feel (although slightly MIDI) and emphasises a dramatic mood, which is quite good. My criticism is that although the composition is sound, the melody is not memorable. For some tracks, this is perfectly fine, such as when telling a story or accompanying a battle that you don't want to distract the player from fighting. Good work. -
Original Zelda-Inspired Composition WIP: "Zelda'esque"
Peach replied to Peach's topic in Post Your Original Music!
Wow. I am honoured that this song is generating so much buzz here. I need to establish (or re-establish) some facts, though. This piece is completely originaly except for the classic Zelda eight-note jingle played twice. The rest uses no source material other than the style and instrument selection, based on Ocarina of Time and The Wind Waker. One of the last parts that coincidentally sounds like Spirit Tracks will be changed. The work is incomplete in multiple ways. It's a rough draft, played by hand (with too much force from the fingers, at that). There is no refinement done at all; this includes instrument dynamics. I'm just now getting to the refinement stages. While this song is inappropriate for OCR, some tracks on the upcoming album for Zelda SL may be. So, yes; I plan to eventually submit remixes, and I know they must sound better than this currently does. Anyway, I am really new to non-rushed music composition from a keyboard. Almost everything on my web sites is the result of haste, because many songs were made for school projects and I had little time. With everyone's advice, I'm sure that I will reach the next level of music production. Thanks! -
Three in a Row- New Puzzle-Styled Original
Peach replied to JaredCowing's topic in Post Your Original Music!
This is a great composition. The dynamics and rich reverb are strong points. However, the appropriateness for a puzzle game is limited. I'd avoid associating the music with an action puzzle game, but a puzzle game requiring careful thought may work with this song. Also, the mood would be ideal for vast outdoor stage during dusk in an adventure game, a cutscene, or even a meaningful moment in a movie. Good work. -

Neblix - As a perfectionist myself, I see what you mean. I'll do what I can. James - I'm actually not completely satisfied how it sounds. The playing is sloppy, the orchestra is choppy, and even the composition is a little lacking in the transitional parts. Rozovian - Thanks! I have to say, though... This wasn't written as a MIDI. I actually played this by hand. I'm just not a good player. Composition is my field, as is MIDI work.
