  1. This typo made me lol I'm surprised they haven't decided whether or not to include online play. Seems like a no-brainer. Or maybe I misunderstood and he just meant to say that they haven't decided how they're going to do online play.
  2. This seems like a great idea. I always sorta liked DBZ, but could never keep watching it due to the slow pacing. This may be exactly what I needed to enjoy the show.
  3. Seems like someone has posted the soundtrack to YouTube! http://www.youtube.com/user/WiiC24#p/u/7/Z2GHF8icAXI
  4. Heh, thanks I'm not too worried honestly. I think the euro has been doing much better than anyone could have anticipated when it was introduced. As long as Spain and Portugal stay out of trouble I think we should be fine. But I'm not an economist and I haven't even been following the situation with Greece very closely, so hey what do I know. To a certain extent, yes. But in the end it's all about supply and demand. At some point there are so many GTA clones, or Madden games, or whatever, that not all of them will sell well at $60 (or whatever price). Blaming piracy and/or second hand sales for diappointing results seems an easy cop-out. edit: typo
  5. Funny how everyone's complaining about the $60 price tag. New games are 60 euros over here, which is currently about $75 (and the Euro hasn't been doing too well lately with all the trouble in Greece). The 60 euro price tag does include 19% tax. Still, video game prices have barely changed, and actually gotten lower in case of Nintendo's systems, over the past 20 years, so I can't complain about that at all. On the other hand, statements like "the second hand market is killing the industry" are just completely ridiculous. The right to sell property to somebody else is such a basic right, that it seems insane to think it could be "killing" anything. Just like with anything else, second hand sales have been happening with video games for as long as they have existed. The only thing that seems to have changed recently is that stores like Gamestop have made buying and selling used games more convenient, and they've found a way to make money off of it. Good for them? To me it's baffling how widely spread the attitude is that used game sales are now an evil which needs to be fought, not just among video game publishers. Everyone suddenly seems to think that the publisher somehow deserves to get a cut every time a video game changes ownership. This is just not how the concept of ownership works. Edit: wow this thread is really moving. I enjoyed GTA4, but not every game has to be like it. Much, if not most, of the development cost of developing a game like GTA go into creating high-resolution textures and extremely detailed character models, and of course developing or licensing a game engine that can display them. I think the success of the Wii, XBLA and indie games proves that we've reached a point where many gamers just don't care about that. Also GTA4 was a huge commercial success. In spite of all the second hand sales.
  6. I did. But you're right, I guess I exaggerated on that one. Although when I'd taken out the ME2 disc to play some other game, I'd often forget which disc I had been playing on, so I ended up having to swap more often than that. Anyway, I was trying to say: I don't really mind games with multiple discs if you progress through the discs in order. I even kind of like it since it gives you an extra sense of progression. But if I have to swap the same disc in multiple times in a single playthrough, it tends to annoy me.
  7. I generally dislike reboots. On the other hand, I don't really keep track of the Castlevania series story, I just enjoy the stories of a few individual games, so in this case I don't really mind. The trailers so far seem really cool, I'm keeping an eye on this game.
  8. Why would anyone want install all of the discs anyway? Like with the old multidisc Final Fantasies, you progress through them linearly. Whenever I had to swap discs I'd just uninstall the last one and install the next one. This isn't Mass Effect 2 or Baldur's Gate 2 where you have to swap discs constantly.
  9. I didn't need any more reasons. But holy crap that is awesome. Did you even hear the music? Too bad the game won't come out until June over here
  10. Apparently Nomura was also against FF13 itself going multiplatform, and it still happened. He's not the only one calling the shots at Square-Enix. If there's enough money in a 360 port it could very well happen. Also, calling a game designer a "fanboy"? Seriously?
  11. So any news yet on Versus and Agito's stories? Now that FF13 is out, I'm curious how these games will fit into the FF13 setting. Are they prequels or sequels? Do they take place in Gran Pulse? A 360 version of Versus would be nice, since it would mean I don't need to buy a PS3 to play it, but it's hard to get excited about the game without any more info.
  12. This is a pretty useful overview. I didn't even know about 2., I'll have to experiment with that.
  13. Whoops, my bad, I hadn't noticed that. I sometimes read YouTube comments. I usually end up regretting it.
  14. I dunno, I think there's still room for improvement there. Just look at fighting games like Street Fighter 3, KoF 12 and BlazBlue. It's just that the game industry seems to think it's not cost effective to animate so many 2D animation frames, compared to the cost of developing a full-blown 3D engine. I have no idea whether this is true.
  15. Chrome is doing really well, actually. It hasn't been out that long and it's already more popular than Opera. If I'm not mistaken it's the most popular browser besides IE, Firefox and maybe Safari. It hasn't become the new IE, but I like to think that's a good thing. Personally I'd consider using it if it didn't insist on uploading my browsing habits to Google. Google doesn't need to know which sites I visit.
  16. Blasphemy! Really though, many early 3D games look really really bad, especially anything not by Nintendo, Rare or Squaresoft. Also 3D PlayStation 1 games tend to look much, much worse than N64 ones. But then, I've always thought this, so for me it doesn't have much to do with aging badly.
  17. It seems Capcom Unity (the official Capcom blog) noticed your videos as well.
  18. YES. YES IT DOES. Seriously, I'm amazed how well you're doing so far
  19. ... sum n00b? Also, happy birthday!
  20. More people seem to be complaining about this. I don't really get it, I didn't have much of a problem following the story at all. My biggest gripe was that it took too long to get going, and (as others have said) the ending was a bit of a disappointing deus ex machina. Overall I enjoyed it.
  21. What a coincidence, a coworker brought his Kindle to work today to show it off. It seemed pretty nifty, although I have no experience with other e-book readers (yet) so I can't compare. I think I'd prefer it over the iPad or similar devices for doing lots of reading. According to my coworker the Kindle does read plain PDFs without any hassle. EDIT: just had a little demo. It's pretty nifty, but as others have said, the low refresh rate and lack of zoom are a shame. You can change font sizes on Kindle books, but not on plain pdfs. Also personally I wouldn't be so keen on purchasing eBooks from Amazon.
  22. I'd heard the term before, but I also had to look it up on Shoryuken. It's short for priority linking. Basically, when executing a link, instead of hitting (for example) HP, you'd hit HP and then (very quickly, on the next frame) also hit MP. When you hit HP it registers. When you input MP as well one frame later, it registers as MP + HP, which effectively also counts as a HP (since HP is stronger). This means you have effectively hit HP twice in a row, meaning a larger chance of pulling off your link. The Shoryuken guy may be better at explaining it: DISCLAIMER: I have never tried this
  23. I remember liking Legend of Goku 2 (the Game Boy Advance action RPG), although I never bothered playing the other two games in the series. I always thought action RPG was a more fitting genre for Dragon Ball Z than 1-on-1 fighting, given how much the story tends to focus on the characters gaining more and more power. I might be interested in a new console action RPG, with the production values of the Raging Blast series, and co-op gameplay. That could be really awesome. I also kind of wanted to get into the Budokai / Raging Blast / other Dragon Ball fighting games, but there are just too many of them to know where to even start.
  24. I'm not that good with combos... the most advanced one I can pull off is the typical jump-in attack -> normal -> special -> super that almost every character has. That and some very simple combos into Ultra for a few characters. In my experience combos aren't as important as everyone seems to think in Street Fighter. Due to the extreme damage scaling they don't do that much more damage than pokes and specials. The important part of the game is getting yourself in a position to do damage, rather than doing the most damage in one combo. Still, if I want to get better I should probably spend some more time in training mode, learning some better combos for a few characters. The Ken version of that comic seems to be more popular than the Ryu one. Either way I love the last panel
  25. Mega Man hasn't been confirmed yet though. If they're basing this game on Tatsunoko vs Capcom, I'm expecting MegaMan Volnutt to return, instead of original series Mega Man.
