So for anybody reading along, we've got a trio of new directors for the Secret of Mana album project: yours truly, HankTheSpankTankJankerson and TheNikanoru. We're already discussing how we'll run the album, orienting ourselves and setting some things in motion behind the scenes. Somewhere in the next few days, we'll probably create a new topic with all the good stuff and get things moving again. See you on the other side

Don't feel too bad, I BARELY made the deadline. Some reason I thought it was the 2nd as well. Frantically put mine together at the last minute. Lol

Just briefly going through the song, with my laptop speakers: 
Production:
The main synth you open up with sounds like too much resonance. Was a little jarring at first. The lead that kicks in at 0:36-0:49 is not separating itself from the background synth and percussions. Your synth is being overpowered, and on the cymbal crashes the lead sounds like it is being distorted. Same issue at 1:01-1:16 with the synth being drowned out. Feel like overall there is too much happening in the high frequency range and not enough elsewhere. Those background synths sound really sharp. My ears just may be sensitive. Arrangement:
I'm not sure how far along to this WIP you are, but I feel like it's pretty by-the-numbers until 1:22. Play around with the fills some more and see if you can come up with some more cool twists on the melody. The ending was a little abrupt. Sorry if this isn't helpful enough. I've just briefly went through it and my Macbook speakers aren't always a good judge of sound (I need to get some production headphones). Doing a good job with this so far. Loving the energy you're bringing to the track!

If you fancy the second part of the mix, I suggest you check one of my favorite artist of all time (a fellow frech guy) going by the name of The Algorithm. I really wanted to imitate his style for a long time, and this ReMix seemed to me like a good occasion to try a lot of new things.

I'm about to submit mine. Going to be more unpolished than I'd like it to be, but it's not terrible or anything. Pretty straightforward upgrade in instrumentation.

Haven't really had a chance to the past couple of evenings, and tonight I was at a Bible study most of the night. I'll probably be working on more music stuff Friday, so I'll see what I can do around that time.

Yeah, I looked at the MIDI for Technology and was thinking "nope". XD I do really like the track though.
Technology Revisted - I enjoyed the sound design choices you picked, Starphoenix. The hi hat sounds so chill, and combined with the string pad is sounds really smooth. The lead at :50 brings out the 90's feel in my ears.
The Lazy Furniture - While Starphoenix's was more 90's based, yours sounds a lot like the 80's to me, HoboKa. The string pad with the sax and electric piano come together really well here. Additionally, I like how the drums are more on the dry side of things and more mellow.
And thanks to both of you! I bought an Air Music bundle a few weeks ago and wanted to try out Strike 2. I really like it so far, and I think it'll be my go-to plugin for traditional drum sets; it has practically all I need for drums in one convenient plugin.

I vote for HoboKa this round.
Just listened to both of the tracks:
The Lazy Future - I love the synth you chose for the beep fills (very technical term, I know), does a nice job capturing the "technology" feel. The strings do a nice job capturing the chill tone of the original track. I don't blame you for not trying to fiddle too much with the source. lol
Gettin' High on Rails - Love the guitar work! You did very well in keeping the spirit of the Sonic Adventure series with its love of guitars and rock sound. Going to echo what HoboKa said: you did a great job with the drums.

If someone hasn't already indicated they're working on a track, then it is likely you're going to be the only entry.

Bonus track submitted! I noticed the midi has an incorrect hi-hat pattern for the beginning of the song, so I matched it to the original track. Also added some bass slides in the intro and chorus. Also also changed the instrument for the last pattern before the song loops again. So, some originality (sort of).

Have majority of my bonus track done. Not going crazy with the arrangement because, honestly, I love the song as is and only want to bring the instrumentation more up-to-date. Trying to focus my attention more on productions this time around. I'll have it submitted by Saturday.

I will be submitting my bonus mix tonight, just have to touch up a couple things. I got distracted by Titanfall 2 and Dishonored 2, but I was able to get a lot of the mix done over the weekend.

I'll take a listen to the track at some point this week and see if I can figure out the scale and what not with my midi keyboard. I assume you're needing the scale?

If you know the principles behind how to make the lead, you should be able to make it. The main difference between synths is the approach to making certain sounds, except for sounds that are particularly complicated (such as some FM sounds, or metallic sounds).
Try going for a detuned saw lead with multiple voices, and a slight envelope depth on a low-pass filter's cutoff frequency. Further tweaking would be needed to get it exactly, but that should get you most of the way there.

I don't really have a lot in the way of critique, but I just wanted to say you did an amazing job with this track! I love how clean the instruments sound, and I'm always a sucker for jazz arrangements. I can envision myself kicking back on a beach sipping on fruit smoothies to this track.
