Awww shit. I let this one go flying by without doing anything. Damnit.
I'll vote when I get home from school, hope to hear how you guys did!

Congrats Coaltergeist. Man, back in 2009, Larry merged 3 or 4 accounts I had into the one I use now, and it was still less than 50 posts. How times have changed! And merging accounts is nothing short of futuristic technological magic.
Why did you have three or four accounts anyway?
Wait, no, better not to ask.

So, how long is a "short solo section", in terms of percentages? 10~20% of the whole track?18 seconds of a 3-minute track (10%) seems about right. Maybe 15% as an upper limit.
I know I'm not involved this round, but personally I always thought that a "short solo section", would be (part of) the bridge of a song in between repeated choruses. But that's just my two cents. Time-wise though I can see that the % of track limit would be about right, so yeah. I'll leave you guys alone now, can't wait to see what y'all come up with!

OCAD comes back tomorrow night. 8PM. Ready your panties.
my pants are thoroughly prepared

So there will be no remix albums/EPs/whatnot for sale on OverClocked Records? Did I get that right?
I'm assuming "no", with the possible exception of OCR's first commercial remix album (selling remixes is a dangerous thing to do without said remix(es) being officially licensed by the initial copyright holder)

Hmm... I'm thinking that I might just join this. This sounds interesting
-
It's currently in the judging queue. I think it just needs one more yes vote, last I checked.
...I don't think that's what he's asking for...

Well that theme sure is interesting this time around. I honestly can't wait to hear what all you guys do with this!
Good luck to you all

Nice collection. I'm having trouble scrolling on the homepage, though. I can't see all the albums as they stack to the right, and I can't scroll to see them. I can only make the window bigger, and that only goes so far. I'm using Safari 6.1.1
edit: looks like that's how it's supposed to be, seeing as how you can access the albums on other submenus. nvm
There's also small little arrows in black boxes you can click on each row to scroll across on the front page.

and the fledgling album project ceased to be, as quickly as it was brought into the world.
THE ARGLE HAS SPOKEN!
In all seriousness, I really want to see someone pick this up and run with it. I'd do it myself but as I may have said earlier in this thread I don't know what kind of workload I'll have next semester to start it off, and then on to college and the likes after that.

After visiting this thread post-MAG, I'm making it my goal to attend next year's MAGfest if at all possible. Really want to meet you guys and experience the awesome that is MAGfest. Heck, I'll gladly welcome Post-MAG Depression if it means I get to go!

Current signups, with deadline in two days:
Esperado (Novice, flexible)
timaeus222 (Star)
The SamAreAye (Novice)
Flexstyle (Star)
evktalo (Star)
BrothaDom (Novice)
Hollow (Novice)
Argle (Star)
Anorax, I'm not sure whether your wishy-washy statement was a signup.
So right now we have 4 and 4, or if Anorax (or another Novice) signs up, Esperado switches sides and we have 5 Stars and 4 Novices! If that's the case, if no one else takes that last Novice slot, I will.
I'm almost willing to say I'll skip this round because the signups are even, but I want to do it, soooo...
MindWanderer, I'll actually leave that up to you. If you want to participate in your own competition and sign up as the fifth novice (if no one else signs up by the deadline), then add me in! If you want to let the signups be as-is, then that's fine too. My feelings won't be hurt either way, so I'll let you decide.

Server's down again. I'm getting a "bad login" error (followed up by a stream lost error) and my brother on a separate computer (while running the same account - he mooches off of me and it's about to get him in trouble) is getting a connection dropped error.
EDIT: ok, maybe the server isn't down (I get server information on the multiplayer server select screen incl. # of players), but I can't connect to it on either machine. May be my internet connection
-
That's not normal... hold on.
Woo! About to make a reply about the online map being down as well, and then a page refresh later it (and the server) came right up! Thanks!
-
While I'd like to sign up as a novice again, I've had a poor track record lately with actually getting stuff completed for compos. I don't think that this one would be a problem, especially with a new semester rolling in (I don't have many finals and the workload at the beginning of the semester should be* light)
*doesn't mean it will be

First time logging on in a while, and I gotta say some of these additions are awesome.
Although I have to ask, how do you use the chessboards?
EDIT: The server has been down for the past hour and a half, after a "Server restarting. You will be kicked" message appeared. Is this normal, or are you fiddling behind-the-scenes Aba?
-
Well this looks interesting. I think I'll keep an eye out for this!

hold up, one disc having 80 minutes worth of tracks? that seems like a LOT of tracks for just one disc. somewhere around 60 would make more sense.
that's actually a really good idea, though, jnWake. any other input?
I think that 12~16 tracks per disc is fine. An average of 4~5 minutes per song gives 48~80 minutes (4*12 or 5*16).Just regurgitating the OCR project rule that discs can't exceed the physical recording time limit of CDs. Less is obviously fine (and preferred).
What I'm getting at is if an entire game soundtrack was remixed (say, the entirety of SMK's soundtrack), how much time would those remixes take up do you think? I mentioned the "disc" length limit based on the possibility of the entire soundtrack being remixed and somehow collectively lasting longer than the 82 minute rule/guideline/thing
-
Oooh, I definitely like this idea! Maybe each game has its own disc (technically each "disc" should hold as much music as a physical CD, so about what, 80 minutes? Maybe two discs per game if necessary...)Maybe this could just be focused on the first 4 MK games and then if it goes well a second part covering the other 4 can be done? I don't know, it'd solve the issues some people habe with the idea sofar... -
Honestly, I think that if we were to emphasize on ANY game or just do one game from the series, Super Mario Kart would be the one.
Oh I agree wholeheartedly to be honest, and the only reason I didn't mention SMK over MK64 is that SMK is probably the most covered on OCR and elsewhere. Heck, the OneUps did an album (I think) on SMK. It's not that I prefer MK64 over SMK (I don't, it's actually the other way around), it's just that MK64 appears to be the lesser-loved of the two in the remix community (not exactly here on OCR, as ML64 has one more mix than SMK does, but still).
-
Hi, just jumping in to say that I'd be willing to jump in on this project if someone ever decides to pick it up and run with it.
I'm guessing that this isn't a project aimed to remix one or two games, but pick-and-choose from the whole series? While I'm not against the idea, I do think that some of these games could use some more attention as a whole (MK64 anyone?) and could actually make a decent project by themselves. Not to derail the current concept, but what if you did an album of the first few games, and if that goes well, you can continue from there (Much like the DKC, DKC2, and DKC3 albums did, albeit with different directors)?

That's pretty awesome dude, it looks great. Reminds me that I have to "clean up" my own desk at home, and this actually gives me some ideas.

Can I ask for a username change to "The Anorax Saga"? Couldn't pass up an opportunity to poke fun at king.com (especially since OCR's done so already on it's Twitter account
