  1. I was thinking about starting a forum generating interest in a Mario Kart record, but then I saw this. Really, really, really would love to be a part of this. It seems the first post was over a year ago. Are we going slowly? Not sure where you guys are on this and I don't know how active this project is. But I'd still love to be a part of this. Mario Kart is a fav for me and I know practically every song front to back and back to front. Crud. Two people have stolen RR GCN. Let's see... Menu Theme of GCN is most certainly something I'd do (the one with the piano, right?). If no one's signed up for that one or calling it out (I haven't been looking at previous comments), I'm totally up for that one. Double Dash is my favorite game in the series, and I'd love to remix one of the songs from one of the most nostalgic games for me. If you need "auditions", just check my SoundCloud in the link in my signature. Thanks! Also, this: Listen, I totally want this to happen. Like, for real. I will in no way help direct it, though, and I do not mean to say that in a way that means "why would I direct this??" I simply just am not one who can easily direct an album like this. I can take two remixes, if that helps. And somehow spread the word (not exactly sure how I'll do that, though)
  2. Hardly have read what anyone else has to say about this mix, but overall, it's nice. I think that the drums could've come in with a much stronger presence. In meaning of maybe a bigger fill and then some crash cymbals or something? Not sure. Just something to make the drums go "Hey look I'm in the song now". The drums can totally change the direction of the song, and you're off to a good start. I'll admit, I was sorta hoping for a more half-time beat. Saying this practically changes the direction of the mix, if you were to try that out. I wonder if you could have that double-time beat going on for some time later in the mix, but begin with a more heavy, half-time beat? Not sure. I just felt it was needed at the beginning there. The synths sound great, though. I wonder if maybe a bit more low end on the EQ for the bass synth? If you were to do that, though, the beat would have to match of with it. Because, you know, bass and drums are like best friends. Great mix overall.
  3. I had played them for years. Never really understood why I didn't get one myself (probably because my friend across the street had one). Well, after it's 22 (or something like that) years of existence, I actually got one.
  4. Girls, nature, Michael Jackson, and Paul McCartney, and an action-packed movie. Weird combination. Seriously, though, everything and anything can be an inspiration.
  5. Yeah I sorta did. That was about the only track on the record that had a brighter feeling to it, which balances out the record a bit, so that it's not completely and utterly dark the whole entire way. Seriously, though, best remix project I've heard in a while.
  6. EARGASM. Listening to "Terrible Fate" right now, and found myself singing along. Really quite a great remix record. Especially for not being a 100% real orchestra. OOH MAH GAWSH. "Time's End" and "Majora's Wrath" are absolutely amazing. Sent a chill down my spine.
  7. What is it that you're working on? I could possibly help.
  8. No, no, I'm not talking about a studio with a whole bunch of instruments. I'm talking about pro recording studios. Ones where you have more compressors and EQs and such with maybe one keyboard or something.
  9. Tons of pros build a simple little studio for only 20,000 bucks. Dude, that's a lot of money. Of course, there was a time when studios were big and everything was recorded on analog tape and they would spend half a million bucks making a big studio. There's still some magic about those recording studios (some which still exist now; it's just all digital recording now, of course)...
  10. It all depends. Sometimes I'm so into the mix that I can get it done in less than 2 days. Other times I take breaks and work on my original music, and sometimes I won't get it done til 2 months later. I am able to quickly just start putting something together. It's how I work. I hear a piece I like from a OST and I just open up a new file in Logic and start screwing around. Hardly any of my remixes ever actually are arranged beforehand. I do have those, but hardly do I do them. Most of the time I just feel it out as I go, just having a simple idea of what I want the mix to sound like.
  11. I love jazz and I'm decent with jazz chords, but I can't really play jazz piano all that much. Don't worry. If I am of no use then that's ok. Dude, go for it. Jazz waltz? My gosh I want to hear this. But hey, you can give me what you got and I could just help you out with some stuff, if even needed. Whatever you want. I've already got a remix I'm working on, I just pointed out that this one I was cool for helping out with.
  12. I like that one. I could help with it. I've already got one I'm heavily working on, but that song is cool and I think I see some cool remix potential in it. It just depends on what we're looking for. So yeah. I'm open for collabing on that one.
  13. Yeah what I meant was that the song hadn't even recorded the whole way through. Not about the mix, I just haven't even recorded the whole thing. But I'm guessing that's what you thought I was saying, so ok.
  14. My WIP is nice, but not even done with the track. Could I just send you what I *do* have tomorrow? I have about 1 and a half or 2 minutes or something. I really don't know.
  15. What he said. ^^ EQ and compressor are wonderful tools and I use both a whole bunch. I don't think I hardly ever go without at least somewhat EQing a track. If done right, you can turn down that guitar without losing any of sound. Same with the synth. I also really think that the drums need to come out a billion times more. I'm a huge drum and beat fanatic, and when I can't hear the drums, it can frustrate me. I'd say do some compressing on it to pop it out and give it much more of a kick. And speaking of kick, really compress that kick to bring it out. Really want to hear that. You played very well, though, and if the mix was really good, I think this would be a great remix.
  16. I'm working on a remix for Quartz Quadrant right now, if a "bonus" remix of it is still available.
  17. Anything analog is more likely to sound like that synth sound, probably.
  18. Basically what he said. ^^ I don't know what software you're using, but lots of times, depending on the synth plugin, you can find the sound easier. In Logic, the best bet would be ES1. It is a more low quality synth but it can do some really cool stuff and I bet I could create that synth if I spent enough time on it.
  19. I think the reason no one's done any of them is because every single song is actually the same tune except in a different style. And it's totally clever and nostalgic to me and I love the soundtrack to death, but I just don't think it's a very easy soundtrack to remix and say the remix was specifically for this specific track. Remixing one track by just keeping the melody is basically remixing the whole soundtrack, if you understand what I mean. But hey, challenge accepted. ^^
